  1. Just had frozen yogurt with fruit and granola for dinner and I feel horrible because it wasn't a Protein packed dinner and probably had too much sugar...I follow the high protein diet closely and eat a lot of unprocessed foods..and I exercise regularly...why do I feel so damn guilty? I hate being so hard on myself but I just can't help it!

Don't feel bad. Yogurt is good protein. If you said you ate a pint of ice cream then I'd be worried. I actually eat 3 oz of choc frozen yogurt every night for desert with some PB2 powder on it. It's only 50 cals and tastes delicious. Been doin that for 4 months and I'm down 74 lbs... You'll be ok!

  2. Yeah! I was a 28 or 30 pant pre surgery. (Not exactly sure, as a student I basically lived in yoga pants) and while I stuffed myself in an xl yoga pant, I just went and bought a couple size L yoga capris, and size 18 jean capris a couple weeks ago. Woo! And I'm still in xxl tees from old navy, but they're looser, and I did buy some xl tank tops the other day. They're a little snug, but I wear em under stuff anyways, so it'll be ok. Plus I'll get more wear out of em. Jean shopping has been stupid. Old navy 18s are loose in the waist, but are like sausage casings for my legs, especially in the calf. Apparently that's a thing though, as a couple girls who work there said the same goes for them. But I love wearing colors again. No more all black for me!

Thank god it's not only me .... I LIVE in old navy clothes and I'm falling out of my 20 torrid jeans but I put on 20 old navy and can't get them over my calves :-( very discouraging

  3. Hey Guys, Hope you guys are having a great day. I was wondering...Is it possible to loss 100 pounds in 4 months with the sleeve, diet and excerise? I got the surgery almost two months ago and down 35 pounds...I want to keep this up. Any suggestions or ideas?

Rj is right.... Everyone is different as well. I'm 12 weeks out and have lost 64 lbs

  4. I am 3 weeks post-op. I was off pain meds four days out. One week post-op I was back on pain meds. I have this terrible burning, tearing pain to the left of my belly button. It has had me in tears off and on, knocks the wind right out of me... two trips to the office--no answers. Just wait a month and tough it out. The skin is numb and the pain underneath. I am thinking it is nerve damage. It really has me depressed! I cannot get dressed, move, sit down, hold my son with out it taking forever and being in some serious pain. Anyone else?!?

I had it. We have internal stitching in order to keep us from getting incisional hernias. I pulled a stitch at wk 3 getting out of the car. All day I was fine but the next morning I cried just to go to the bathroom 5 feet away. Take it easy and use a heating pad. It will get better. I'm 9 weeks now and every once in a while it's sore but no pain :)

  5. I am 3 weeks post op today. Still feeling very tired and like something is stuck in my throat all the time. I can eat yogurt, cheese, eggs and some pureed stuff. I am stil crying al the time because I feel yucky. Plus I have lost 12 sizes and cannot get used to being smaller. I feel like I am losing my mind. I went to my counselor yesterday and it helped. I feel like my doctor is blowing me off about how I feel so I quit calling and complaining about anything. Plus I noticed last night that 1 of my incisions has 2 little plastic things coming from it. I guess they are sutures but again getting the blow off and no return phone calls. I am so ready to just throw in the towel.

I'm 7 weeks out and I've lost 2 sizes.... How on earth did u lose 12??

  6. Hi all, Even though I know that every place is different, I am wondering how much of this is "normal" or standard. I am 2 weeks post-sleeve today. I had a terrible reaction to the surgery, almost uncontrollable vomiting for the first 24 hours. My doc said that about 1 in 20 people have that physiologic reaction to the surgery, and the only plus to it was that in her experience, those people tended to lose the most weight. The next morning, they finally thought to put the compression stockings on me, but never turned them on. They didn't squeeze once. So Zophran did NOTHING for my nausea, but promethazine (Phenergan) help immensely, but it knocked me out. They gave it to me through my IV in my hand. They sent me home just over 24 hours after surgery, not having kept hardly any liquids down, but thankfully, they did prescribe promethazine suppository and fentanyl and scopalamine Patches. And that was it. My left hand, the hand with the IV in it swelled up and the vein is hard now. I spoke with 2 of my nurse friends and they say that promethazine should never be used in a peripheral vein and that I was lucky I didn't get gangrene and need an amputation. It's real, look it up. I will likely never be able to use that vein again for an IV. One and a half weeks after surgery, when I was trying to start the full liquids and some pureed stuff, I got HORRIBLE heartburn. I called in and they said take Pepcid at twice the dosage and Tums as needed. My friend who had had VSG last year couldn't believe that they hadn't put me on something preventatively. It was so bad that even the day after starting Pepcid, I woke up spitting up blood. I tried Prevacid and Mylanta and the heartburn turned off like a switch yesterday, thank the good Lord. So then yesterday, I called them and asked how long before I should start using my BiPAP again, they had told me to quit using it after the surgery so I wouldn't get gas in my pouch. They told me a month after surgery. Yesterday was my routine recheck with my pulmonologist and she said that they were "trying to kill me." That the likelihood of getting air in the stomach was minimal and that it was even MORE important to use the BiPAP after surgery because of the lingering anesthetic effect in the body. Since the heartburn is being treated, things are looking up for me, a little better every day, but I am wondering how much of this was preventable. Did you go home on antacids? Did they give you promethazine IV? Did they have compression stockings on you during surgery and after? And did they tell you to keep using your BiPAP or CPAP? Thank you.

I was put on Prevacid as a preventative measure. I was given zofran once through iv but it didn't work so they quickly changed to Reglan. I was given rx promethazine to drink while home but I never had any reason to use it, and compression stocking were used during and after surgery until that night when I was up walking every hour. I had no complications. I don't have sleep apnea so I can't answer the cpap questions .

  7. Hello Splatt, as mentioned in this thread, being shy is not a good reason for not posting in the lady's room, but rather, it is against our guidelines. Note the stickies at the top of the Lady's and Men's forums: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/250198-attention-men-the-powder-room-is-for-ladies-only/ http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/250199-attention-ladies-the-man-room-is-for-men-only/

I was implying that he shouldn't be shy in general. It had nothing to do with him posting in the ladies forum

  8. I'm so sorry I'm just shy , truth be told I've read things from the lady's room , but was to shy to reply to any of there post

You shouldn't be shy... You're gorgeous!

  9. Hello all I have a question I think this is the test that they put a scope down your stomach?....what is it for..and I was wondering if their was someone who doctor didn't do one..the dr I am going to I don't believe he requires this? I am going to call the doctor office and see if this is true

I did not have one. My dr didn't require it a and I never had any heartburn

  10. This morning, in this forum, I read that someone was 'itmf' and they weren't. A cna is not itmf just as a medical assistant is not in the nursing field. Sorry. This one pushed me over the edge I'll shut up

What field would YOU say a CNA works in!?!?! The hospital is a medical facility .. They work in the hospital.... Ergo they are in the medical field! I'm in grad school to be a psychologist so I will tell people that I'm in the mental health field ... Should I not say that because I'm a psychologist and not a psychiatrist???

  11. Anyone having trouble with their brains making us feel like we are doing something wrong. I'm doing wonderfully. I'm 5 weeks out, down 42 lbs .. Walking 3 miles a day 5 days a week. I'm fortunate to be able to eat everything in 1/4 to 1/2 cup portions only. Currently eating about 700-800 calories per day. The problem is my brain tells me if I put something in my mouth that actually tastes good, it must be bad. For lunch I had a sourdough chicken Sammy from Jack n the box but I removed everything except the grilled chicken breast and cheese. It ended up being 200 cals and 31gms of Protein. Healthy right??? My brain says NO! What can I do to get my brain in order?
