  1. I can barely figure this site out yet - I am so sorry for not finding this sooner. I am 6 days post op and feel great. I actually ate 1/2 cup cream of wheat today after 7 days on liquid air - or so it seemed. I lost 20 lbs prior to the surgery on a very strict liquid and 1 meal diet and have not lost much since banding. I am excited and hope that you are well and doing welll - I will check "messages much sooner and hope you can write back.

  2. Hi - I am still learning how this all works - Since I am much older - 61 I was not born to the computer. However, I do use it daily for work. My surgery is scheduled for June 15 and the nutritionist Imet with last Friday said there is no special pre-op diet I need - yet. Just continue losing the 10-15 lbs required by the doctor at the University of Minnesota.

I will need to get pictures here oh ick - facing the truth.

I have to go make a calendar of all the hoops I am jumping through doctors, psyche evals etc etc blood work. And my daughter is about to return from a year studying in Ecuador and this is the hardest time of year for me - I work in a high school and have much to round up. I will stay in touch - when I learn how to do so.

    Take care

Hi - I am wandering about trying to figure out this sight. My surgery is scheduled for June 15th, so I am right behind you. I am trying to add protein shakes instead of full meals now - to a) loose the required weight before surgery and  to get ready for the reality of the surgery. I weight 282 so we are close in the process and the goal. Frankly, I am not sure how ever to get back to you but perhaps I'll learn. I sincerely really truly wish you well. I look at so many success stories and say - I can, I know I can I must. My personal email is bsayble@gmail.com - So far, I know of no other way to maintain strands of connections. Have you had surgery or just doing the prep? Here we go - I wonder what a year from now will look like? Barbara
  4. To one and all... My surgery date is June 15th and I am so glad to have found this forum. One prepares for change and hopes for change but.... in my head right now is the urge for a large hamburger with fries. I hope I can write this and drink my Protein shake instead. Driving past the drivethrus is my greatest challenge. It is where the weight has come from. Perhaps - as I loose - I should deliver hunks of fat to their doors?? Kind of give it back. At 62 I do not want to die young and do not want to die fat. I want to live healthy and enjoy my young children (21 & 27). I want to work (school psychologist) and maybe even date again (widowed, divorced). Can I give up the satisfaction that food supplies? Can I really stop killing myself? The idea of communicating with others is so sound and hopeful. My sister had the bypass 18months ago, but lives in California - while I reside here in Minnesota. She advised telling no one - she didn't even tell me for 6 months and then I saw her!!! If my baby sister can do this I can, if all of you can do this I can. Yes I can - said the little train. Right now, I feel like falling off the tracks and stopping the whole trip. Fear - not of surgery but of failing - maybe even fear of succeeding? Ah well, one step and then another.
