Approved! June 3rd is my date!

Jsbnme Congrats!! I am super exctied for you. I hope that my surgery goes just as smooth as yours. Congrats again, and stay in contact! It would be nice to hear about your success.
  2. Jennifer, Wow. I would LOVE to have something to eat at dinner. I could see how it is easy to cheat though. The opti-fast shakes are good, and they are doing their job. Its just the first two days my body was in major shock. I also noticed that some people dont need pre-op diet either. Which boggles my mind. Maybe im just hating on them for it??? lol. I def envy those. At the same time, I am grateful to have to do this diet, bc it prepares me for post op. Like Anne said, if you can do this then you can handle post op with a breeze! Anne, broth is DEF a blessing. lol. I enjoy my one cup... and look forward to it more than jello! haha

Jennifer, Aw! Well thats okay, just try and get through it as best as you can. If you make slip ups, try and make healthy ones. I have been good so far. I find that drinking 1 cup of chicken broth really helps me. I get so tired of having cold shakes, cold popcicles, cold Jello... COLD COLD COLD... so to have a nice warm cup of broth that tastes like chicken is a nice reward. Hang in there... its almost over! Jenni - yay! Congrats on your date. We will do great.
  4. Nean, Well, today is my 3rd day and i found that drinking 1 cup of chicken broth REALLY helps me. Today I woke up, and I am not starving. I feel like today will be a better day... I hope so. Congrats on being banded! , and yay for mushies on monday!!
  5. Trish, Thank you. I do look at the bigger picture... but geez! Who would ever think chicken broth is so damn good?! lol. I inhaled it.. it actually had flavor n wasnt cold. Anne, I have a wii and wii fit. I never thought to pull it out and do that inside during this time. Good idea, I will do that! Thanx. Tink, Wow. That has to be hard, but good for you for being strong! Congrats. These two weeks will drag, but willbe worth it. I love looking at the before and after pictures.. very motivating.
  6. Anne, I find it hard to exercise or walk while doing this. I get very sick to my stomach and I know a lot has to do with the heat outside... and being hungry. I dont do well with hunger... I pray this gets better. CONGRATS on not cheating!!!
  7. Reverie, thank you. I sure hope so... because I am struggling.

Bonitachica, I have insurance, but I am self-pay. BC my BMI is under 40, I did not qualify for coverage. Those 3 months will pass by quickly! Congrats on taking the first step. During those three months you will be doing different things to qualify you, so it will go by quickly.

Jennifer, Yes! I am also excited and nervous. To be honest, it really hasnt hit me yet. I think it will closer to the date. The only thing I am nervous about is the surgery itself. I think everything else I can handle. I also am nervous about the results. I want this to work... and I am 99 % positive it will. If I work it right, I shouldnt have any problems. However, I am not enjoying this liquid diet right now..

Maja, I believe my process went so fast because I am a self-pay patient. I only had to have a psych eval and I see my nutritionist on Wednesday (may 19th), to bascially discuss my pre-op diet. I attended 1 support group on my own... and plan to keep attending them. They are only once a month. My liquid diet is opti-fast and other liquids.. like Water /crystal light... sugar free Jello and popcicles. Your doctor isnt providing you with the opti-fast? I heard of a website called: Bariatric Choice. Best Bariatric Surgery Diet supplements, Bariatric Foods, Vitamins for Bariatric Eating When you click the link... look toward the top left corner and youll see a tab that says Bariatric Diet Kits. Click on the 2 week kit... and they give you a diet to follow for 2 weeks and also the kit to buy for 149.00 which is about the same amount i am paying my dr for opti-fast. OPTIFAST - weight loss, weight management, improved health, renewed energy and self esteem This website allows you to find an optifast clinic around you. It just kinda shocks me that your dr does not provide this for you... I can see how it would be hard to find anything. Let me know what you find out. I am super excited about the time closing in.. I am trying to get all my favorite foods out of the way... so I can mentally prepare for this liquid diet mess for 2 weeks lol. I am a preschool teacher... so cooking for them and feeding them will be hard. While at home, I live with a roomate... So at least I won't have to cook for anyone.

    confused

My surgery date is June 3rd and I have questioned myself as well. I think its normal. But somethings that motivated me was reading success stories on this site as well as looking at other's before and after pictures. I was going to have this surgery when I was 18 years old... but I backed out. If i would have gotton the surgery when I was 18... I would be in a much better physical state right now. So I am not waiting any longer... Im ready to have a new me! Try reading success stories... and any questions or concerns talking to your dr can really help. Or even talking to the people on this site is quite helpful.

WOW, I'm pumped!! Surgery in June.

Congrats! I have my surgery on June 3rd too  and I start my 2 week liquid diet next week wednesday. Looks like we are taking this journey at the same time.
  16. I am 25 years old and I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I called and scheduled my consultation for May 10th. The nurse was very helpful, and she took a lot of information on me prior to making an appointment for me. I am 5'6 and 235lbs. I have a hard time losing weight, and I have done several diets that have failed. My BMI is 37 or 38 I can’t remember which she said. However, I suffer from 3 herniated disks in my lower back, shoulder pain, knee pain, and my right ribs are a bit inflamed. My primary doctor tells me all these ailments will ease with weight loss. I am so excited about this surgery... yet so nervous the dr will tell me that I am not "big" enough. I know to qualify you must have a BMI of 35 with medical conditions or have a BMI of 40+. I wonder if my back qualifies as medical? When the nurse told me my BMI, she asked if I have any ailments due to my weight and I told her all of the above. She then booked my appointment. I asked her if he ever turns anyone away. And she said it’s VERY rare, and mainly because of severe medical problems. What do yhall think? Do you think with my BMI and ailments that I can qualify? I’m so nervous... I look forward to this. I have attended support groups / meetings, been reading on this website, and I even set up my psychologist appointment 2 hours after my consultation. Opinions?

    I need your opinion... please?

LeighaMason, Thank you, that does make me feel better. I do plan on being very honest, because I don't want to have any regrets. Thanx again!

    I need your opinion... please?

Happymom, Thank you for responding. I am not worried about insurance because I am a self pay patient. I am more concerned with the Dr. not approving. Maybe I am just too nervous lol.
