  1. Watch out for this one. I was constipated on the pre-surgery diet of Protein shakes and I pushed a little to hard causing an anal fissure (wikipedia has the info). I am trying to get over it, but it is agony. Wondering if anyone else has had this and what they did to heal it. On the one hand, I want to not get constipated, but when I go every day, I don't have any tim between BMs to heal. It really sucks. Good news is that I have lost 32 pounds in 3 months. I am at 272, only 47 pounds from my goal of 235. My Asthma symptoms are 90% gone and I just bought myself a killer mountain bike!

I am just about to go to my Orientation meeting, the person I spoke to didn't say much about pre-op dieting, so I am learning it here. I am sure as I get closer I will be told more. It looks like it varies from person to person and doctor to doctor. My BMI is about 36 and I have a large bone structure. I am 300 Pounds and 6'5". I am in good physical health other than my weight. Good cholesterol numbers and low blood pressure. Is there anyone else out there in my position pre-op? Any chance they will deny me because I am not Chunky Enough?
  3. So far I have only told my wife about my plans to have the surgery, she seems to be up an down about, mostly because she is worried about something happening to me. I am in Sales and I will attempt to keep it a Secret. Might even say my Appendix Burst, hahahaha. I am a big eater, so they will notice eventually. I am mostly concerned about people's perception of me taking the easy way out, but I have tried everything. I quit smoking last year so I know that it isn't only a lack of will power. If it is there, I eat it until it is gone.
