My name is Erika Roe. I have had type 1 diabetes for 5.5 years. In 2005 I also got diagnosed with a goiter and had a total thyroidectomy. I have been dependent on thyroid pills and that has made me gain weight due to hypothyroidism. Plus insulin makes you gain weight. I use a minimed insulin pump and a Dexcom CGM to monitor my diabetes. My endocrinologist says I should consider weight loss surgery because I tried Symlin for weight loss and it didn't work.
