  1. Good luck to both of you on the journey. I am not sure how much a sleep study would cost and the insurance may cover a good portion of it as it is being ordered by the doctor. Keep us posted. I'm a Disney fan too! I LOVE DISNEY!! YAYAY
  2. i love that! What is strange is that when I put in my 1st goal it is perfect for what I want to look like. If I was better at attaching photos I would put up the original and the goal one side-by-side. TWO THUMBS UP!
  3. Viv, I have been totally bummed for you but you know what? I can count several things that are pluses from having to wait, such as getting to enjoy the holidays not in recovery mode which can be stressful, giving you more time to do a pre-op and possibly getting into a good eating/exercise routine and losing a few more pounds pre-surgery, you also are lucky that you have the option for the sleeve when so many people don't have the same luxury and lastly all things happen for a reason or from a christian standpoint "All things work together for good to them that love him and are called according to His purpose". So though I can feel your pain on the mix up and postponement, your future looks bright doll! HUGS
  4. I have to say you brought tears to my eyes! Your results are amazing and you have earned every bit of the success. You also scored big time for that amount of money. I bet it is indicative of how much cheaper it is to shop for small sizes then to find nice things in plus size stores. Not fair huh? Good for you and your hubby to experience that victory as a team. YAYAYAY.
  5. Congrats Bob, you have done amazing and your continued success gives me hope that I can continue to lose even after a year if I use my sleeve correctly. Best wishes. Keep us posted it is inspiration for those who are in all stages pre and post op.
  6. Good good I am not the only one who wants to share! I just know how many people don't have the insurance or financial options to have surgery that would love to have it done. It would change their lives. I want it available to everyone who wants it and to get word out about the procedure. I think with the recent media coverage of known athletes having it done that it is going to be as common as knowledge of bypass and banding very soon.
  7. Wow you look sooo much smaller! Especillay in the brown dress compared to the long sweater picture! Your face is so slim too, you have a very nice jawline with no wobbly neck. I just have great feelings about how your success is going to be. You are always so positive and upbeat I just know you will continue to be a huge inspiration and a shining light! Just look how much you have already accomplished. KUDOS
  8. Congrats Christina and Sleeve4me! I am needing to jump back on the band wagon. I have been carbing it up lately and the more I eat of them the crazier I get to have them. It is NASTY INSANE! Going to grocery store tomorrow to get more lean Protein and veggies. Bread can kiss my butt for a while. hehe I hit 41-42 pounds lost as of last friday but I am too scared too weigh this week after my indulgences. I will wait until next Friday and if I am at least still at the 42 pound mark I will feel good.
  9. Well I think this calls for me to try my own personal medical study! I will pick up some more Prilosec and try taking it and seeing if in the next couple of weeks my hunger gets under control. I know I have been stressing about some extended family bull crap so it might just be an anxiety comfort food thing that I am experiencing. Either way it can't hurt to try to add the Prilosec back in, I can enjoy coffee when I take it so that is almost reason enough to keep taking it. If it seems to be working I will continue until I reach goal then try to stop it then. Thank you all for weighing in on this though! Blackberry you are correct research is a PITA! information overload and sooo much conflicting. Tiffy I wish I had zero hunger....that alone makes me jealous girl.
  10. So I stopped all PPI's a little over two weeks ago and I have been getting hungrier more often. I don't feel any burning unless I drink coffee in the morning but I honestly seem to have the acid under control, but if it will help my hunger at least until I lose the remainder I want to lose then I am more then willing to go back on it prophylactically. Anyone have any info or experience to prove or disprove this theory?
  11. I bet that is a strange sensation. I was all bummed because I should have just chosen like 2 items to have a decent amount of, instead I chose to fill plate with a tiny bit of each food and I didn't feel like I was able to enjoy it because I got full so fast. I am being a Debbie downer, I can appreciate that I was unable to eat only a tiny bit but on the other hand my head was telling me to dig in! i LOVE chocolate meringue pie! My grandma used to make the best ones...nobody else I know puts meringue on chocolate pies. So glad to hear I am not weird that I love that!
  12. Your fears are normal and we all had them, I am sure we all questioned why we just couldn't lose weight the "normal" way and keep it off, but statistically it is close to being impossible for people. I am sure you could find some great stats online to help justify to your husband why you feel hopeless about doing it through some non medical method. I think you should sit down and write him a heart felt letter explaining why YOU want to have the procedure and offer to have him come with you to the doctor and that you are prepared to show him the stats regarding the procedure. I know when I was telling my mother who is in the medical profession and is of the mind that you only have medically necessary procedures, that she was not happy that I was choosing to have surgery and given the fact that I was a "lightweight" it made even less sense for her. But through a heart felt plea with her that I didn't need her to approve of my surgery I just wanted her to support me. I made it clear how bad I was hurting by being overweight and that it was affecting my quality of life. I left it up to her to decide if she would accompany me to Mexico or not. I then gave her a week before I brought up the subject again and asked her if I could get my birth certificate so I could get my passport, because it would take 6 weeks to get and needed to get process started. She then said sooo if someone is going with you they need to get a passport too?I said yes and that I would pay for her passport if she chose to go. She said she would look for hers,......so long story short. I didn't approach her in anger and I wasn't pushy. I just laid out my heart and let her know that I was going to do it but it meant it a lot more for me to have her to support me even though she didn't agree or support the surgery. Just give him some time to adjust, approach him humbly but with strength that you are making a decision only YOU can make. He is hurt you went behind his back so-to-speak but I think you can smooth it over with a little TLC and some information for him. Let him know you want him involved and that you need him but that you deserve to make your own medical decisions and that he would retain the same right for himself. Good luck.
  13. That is some SELF CONTROL! Your gonna rock your sleeve if that is your willpower.
  14. Ahhh thanks guys for the tips and for understanding how it is emotional to see my hair in clumps after simply running a wide tooth comb through it! I am going to pump up my vits for the sake of it and just roll with it. I lost quite a bit after both of my labors and it came back so I guess crying over spilled milk wont help. I run a straightening Iron through it daily so maybe I will try to do that less often. It was something I dreaded and hoped I could dodge but apparently it is out of my hands (actually it is all out of my head lol). If it gets noticeable maybe I will try a few of those extensions like Sleeve4me suggested, that picture was very cute by-the-way! I ended up with enough this morning after washing my hair to make a little rat to poof up the top of my hair LOL or I can pray for the head shrinkage.
  15. I ate too much...no weight gain though..so I will leave it at that. GRRR
  16. LOL I can understand what you are saying. You feel like you are eating so much less then pre-op, you are making better choices and of course you feel like you deserve some treats in very small moderation. However we justify it the body probably isn't in our justifications and just needs some more time of stricter dieting. You have lost like 30+ so don't be too discouraged but just put yourself back on a stricter eating phase even for a week or two along with stepping up your exercise and I think you will see results on the scale and that may be enough to help the motivation to hang off a little longer on the extra's. Chin up!
  17. Well tomorrow I am 15 weeks out (I think) and I have been finding hair all over the house in random areas. I know it is mine because I have two boys and my hubby around here, and I am the only one with long stringy hair. I was trying to act like it was just coincidence but today as I was fixing it and I looked down at a comb I had used was full of a huge clump of hair. I then ran my hand down my hair and a bunch of long strings came right off. D*MNIT! I was hoping to dodge this bullet. I can't tell yet because I have a ton of hair but I remember after the birth of both of my boys that I lost quite a bit. I know it is lame but it kinda makes me wana cry.
  18. I am still confused after all these posts...is Super Sleeve Gastrectomy a supposedly smaller more restrictive sleeve? Or is it the same as the plication with no cutting and the sewing together of the stomach onto itself? If it is a more restrictive sleeve could a person in theory have VSG and then if for some reason lacked full restriction go in and subsequently have a Super Sleeve done?
  19. Wow those are some great results. You have every reason to be so proud. Thank you for sharing with us, it is so inspiring for me personally to see these posts from "real" people.
  20. First off congrats your stats are amazing. Good for you. Secondly I stopped my PPI's about 2 weeks ago and I have noticed I am hungry more often and wondered if the PPI could actually help control my appetite, I think I need to go back on the PPI's at least until I reach goal. Anyone else have info to support this theory for me?
  21. Well there are plenty of Dr. Aceves patients on the site that will be able to give you direct info on what to expect, but know this you will have a great and successful surgery with him. I never have a second though when people mention having surgery with him. Good luck and best wishes hun.
  22. You are a 34/32 DD? HOLY COW that right there makes me jealous.
  23. Uhh do you mean Zicam? Zantac is for GERD and such...hehe
  24. I saw someone joke that he lost almost as much weight as the weed they found in his van. LOL. Good for him though. It helps get the VSG procedure out there.
