Dr. Enochs in Cary did mine. I would highly reccomend him. He is the one that has set the standards in the Triangle area. So do your research. He did mine 2 1/2 years ago.

Yes the sex got better and more often! I think it has more to do with the fact that I have more self confidence and my hormones can actually do their job now the right way.

Alcohol is not reccomended at all for bariatric surgery patients. Do not drink beer. Beer has carbonation and will cause bloating and swelling. Alcohol in general increases gastric acid secretions and increases esophageal irriation. Number one you just had surgery, you are NOT healed. Think! Number 2 this provides empty calories and no nutitional value. I wouldn't trust any nutrionist that said beer was ok for lap band patients 2 weeks post op. I would refer you to your doctors post op instructions which clearly state what is allowed and not allowed in recovery period. This is a choice you made and you have to give up some things. This how life with the band is. I waited 6mos until I had a drink of wine but that is just me.
Wait until your body is recovered and post op swelling is gone before you decide to do things like this , and also discuss these things with your doctor not the nutritionist.
I wonder sometimes if people actually read pre op teaching and actually research things before they do them sometimes. Sorry to be blunt but seriously. This isn't a game it is your health and you don't want to take two steps back.
I am not trying to be nasty but I have seen several posts of yours that lead me to believe you haven't quite understood the purpose of the diet progression and the learning process that comes with the band. Did your doctor not give you pre op teaching and do's and dont's post op? I wish you luck and hope for your success with the lapband.

You have completed most of your post op healing, and now are able to eat more. It's necessary for you to limit your eating to the number of meals and the size of portions which should have been specified by your surgeon's post op instructions.

Until you have restriction with additional fills, you will likely be able to continue to tolerate most foods, including bread. Just because you can eat it does not mean that you should. Now is the best time to hone your will power and determination to resist eating more often than you have been advised to. I continue to get hungry between meals, but find that I am able to avoid eating between meals by drinking the "free fluids" (FF/SF) that we should be having daily. I keep a bottle of Water with me most all of the time, and sip from it frequently.

It is ok to eat out. Having the band teaches you moderation. I have learned in 2 /12 yrs that eating out is not a bad thing. I usually order something not fried and semi healthy. Eat 1/4 to 1/2 of it depending on the portion they give and take the rest home and get 2 more meals out of it. Having the band is about balance, not giving up everything.
Sometimes I just order an appetizer and that is enough to satisy me and I am not the only one still eating while everyone else is done.

You've lost 37 pounds and aren't happy with that? That's 9.25 lbs/week, and average weight loss with the band is 1-2 lbs/week. I would suspect that your body is now in a quandary because of the big initial weight loss and trying to readjust your metabolism.
It's way too soon to judge your restriction or your band's success. I think you need to work on your band eating skills. Read the article I wrote about that here:
    http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/support/post-op-support/how-to-eat-like-a-bandster-r58 )
Also, you need to re-think what "full" means to you. It's not healthy for anyone, especially a bandster, to eat and eat until they feel "full". Eating that way is overeating, and overeating is how we got fat in the first place. And when a bandster overeats, it overloads the stomach and esophagus and can cause esophageal dilation, stomach dilation, and band slips. So, don't go looking for "Thanksgiving dinner Full". Eat only until the physical hunger pangs are gone.
You wrote: I'm really think I'm wanting a bypass but, figure that sense I haven't had the band that long that I Probaly won't be able to get it and I supose there got to be something wrong like the cabs slipping before I can get a bypass ? As I said before, it's way too soon to decide your band isn't working. And no, you won't be able to revise to the bypass so soon after your band surgery unless you have a lot of cash and can persuade your surgeon to do it. The bypass isn't going to work like magic either. Weight loss is hard work no matter what surgery you have. I don't know what you mean by "the cabs slipping." What is "cabs"? If you mean that a complication like a band slip could justify revising to the bypass, you're right, but you can't assume that your insurance is going to pay for revision to another procedure because some policies allow only one WLS in the patient's lifetime. So your insurance might pay to remove your band, but not to do the bypass.
I was hungry at lot as a new bandster. It will probably take a few more fills for your band to start helping with that. In the meantime, hang in there!

You will hit many, many plateaus in this journey. 1-2lbs a week of weight loss is what is expected and accepted. Your body will come to a standstill at many points in this journey. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and exercising and the plateaus will break.

Thank you! Too many think the band is supposed to lose the weight for them. It is a tool. You have to make healthier choices and develop better eating habits. The band is a lifelong committment. I recently had to have my band revised as well as have tons of scar tissure removed and have a hiatal hernia repair due to a fill that became too tight and caused the band to slip. So be careful with the fills and any doctor that is has my vote.

Other surgeons will do the fills even if they didn't do the surgery. You just have to have your records sent to the new docs office. Just do some checking in your area and call and find one to accept.

When things go wrong during your weight loss journey, who are you going to blame?

I’m a control freak, so this is hard for me to say, but say it I must.
Life is full of unexpected events. Events that are good or bad, that you can or can’t explain, with effects that you may or may not be able to control. As much as I wish you (and myself) continued success on your weight loss journey, chances are that at some point, something’s going to go wrong. The fickle finger of fate is going to zap you with a surprise, a disappointment, a side effect, or a complication. It’s going to confuse, upset, frustrate, or infuriate you.
What are you going to do when that happens? Who are you going to blame? Your surgeon, your spouse, your sister, or the girl who won the spelling bee in 6th grade when you were the far better speller? And when the blame is firmly placed (preferably at a considerable distance from you), then what are you going to do? Wait for your fairy bandmother (that would be me, Jean) to wave her magic wand over you and make it all better again?
You might not want to wait for me and my magic wand, because we’re fully booked until March of 2044. That means that you may have to find your way out of the problem all by yourself, because even if you can get someone else to accept the blame for your stuck episode or band slip or weight regain, you are the one who’s going to have to either live with it or fix it.
Oh, sure, you can take your surgeon to court over his purportedly inept placement of your band or port, once you convince an attorney that the case is worth at least (say) $100,000 in medical expenses, lifetime nursing care, lost wages, pain, suffering, and hangnails. And some ten or eleven years later, after dozens of postponements and motions and hearings, as well as thousands of $$ in court costs (all at your expense), you may or may not be granted an award or settlement that you may or may not be able to collect before March of 2044.
And meanwhile, you’ll still be obese, confused, upset, frustrated and infuriated. You’ll be divorced because your husband’s pizza habit ruined your diet. You’ll be lonely because your sister lied about how easy WLS is. You’ll be doctorless because your surgeon flagged your name with the infamous Difficult Patient tag. And did I mention you’ll still be obese?
Wow, this story doesn’t have a very happy ending, does it? I think we’d better start over. So take a deep breath and click here to find out how taking personal responsibility for your weight loss will give your WLS story a happy ending.

Some of it is gas from the C02 they use to inflate your abdomen some of it is the postion during the surgery. It took 2 weeks for all that pain to subside. The pain from my back, shoulder and neck were worse than the actual surgical pain. Heat, pain meds and walking will help.

you aren't getting enough Protein if you are hungry. you need to be getting 80gm or more a day. Stick with the post op diet or you will end up with slippage or espophageal herniation.

ICUnurserachel got a reaction from debbied888 in Band Slipped. Anyone Had Good Or Bad Luck Getting Band Fixed?
Like marfar about 2 months ago noticed reflux, it got worse and noticed I could gradually start to eat more. I was due for my yearly visit so waited until then. When I got there I did the xray and boy had my band slipped. They had to remove all the Fluid and had to do 2 weeks of steriods and prilosec. The next month was hell. The pain, the reflux and bloating. This past Wednesday July 11th I went in for a lap band revision. The surgery took 4 hrs because of all the damage the slipped band had done. I had to have a nissen done to repair a hiatal hernia. the band had to be taken out and replaced, plus tons of scar tissue had to be removed from my stomach. I was released from the hospital today and am miserable. I don't know that I could go through this again. So my surgeon also did a embrication of the stomach to help prevent slippage again. I have had my band 2 1/2 yrs and lost 90lbs. I have to be on liquids for 4 weeks and we go from there.
