  1. I had the same question. Its seems as though you fully recover at the hospital with Aceves, along with him being more one on one and more attentive than some of the others. He's been a doctor I believe for the longest and has lots of accolades. That being said I'm going to Garcia on May 31st at Florence/Oasis Hospital. Garcia is just as qualified and I fill very confident in his ability to take care of me. I'm going to pray hard as I have done with every surgery I've had and hope for the best!
  2. You are looking amazing! Congrats!
  3. Yes he is amazing! I'm right there with you and cannot wait to get this band out of me and start my new life! My husband and I got married at the jp and would love to have a vow renewal! Hopefully I am looking pretty good for our 10 year anniversary trip to Hawaii in January and we could do it there! I'm wishing you the best of luck and congrats!
  4. Aww I will just be leaving when you get there. My surgery will be on May 31st!
  5. My dr recommended that I have an unfill 2 weeks prior to the revision which I did today surgery actually 5/31. There is some pretty rough side effects. I instantly had heartburn and my throat started hurting? I've been burping ever since and it does seem weird. I actually had 6.4cc when I thought I only had 5.9cc in my band. Hmmmm i just miss eating meat! this is going to be interesting.....
  6. May 31st is coming fast! I got my lapband completely unfilled today. Going to get a head start on my pre op diet on Monday! Only 37 more days!
  7. How long has it been since your surgery?
  8. @shielanotsheila My advice would be to go to the self pay Mexico forum. There you will find lots of good information on the doctors in Mexico if you decide to go that route. Posting here about Mexico opens the doors for people to give you negativity about having the surgery somewhere outside the US.
  9. My insurance will cover the revision. However, my doctor won't even consider sending to my insurance since my bmi isn't over 40, it's 35 with no comorbities. I have gone to another dr same issue. So off to Mexico I go!
  10. I'm paying $5500 for my revision with Dr. Garcia
  11. This is my life story with the band! Lol 39 more days for me!!!
  12. I had the same issue with being low bmi and my insurance won't cover it with me "not weighing enough". So off to Mexico I go May 31st!
  13. I totally understand what your going thru. I am revising from band to sleeve on may 31st and I cannot wait. I got my band in July 2010 and lost about 45lbs in a year and a half. But within the last year I have gained about 20-25 of those pounds back. This is also due to slider foods just so I won't vomit. All healthy food make me vomit (dense protein and fibrous veggies). Everything else goes right down. I have never gotten to that "sweet spot" so those 45lbs was all me not the band! I am confident that the sleeve will work for me. I'm sure you will be successful with it. Good luck on your journey!
  14. That's good to hear as I also wondered about this.
  15. I agree. I'm sick of this band. Congrats on your date! My revision is May31st... 45 more days!
  16. I'm revising from the band to sleeve in May. Had I known about the sleeve back then I would have never gotten the band. Lisa was dead on with all the band complications as those are all the same issues I have plus being on a liquid diet after getting fills/unfills. Every month when I went for a fill I had to schedule them a month out. I could never get in when I needed to. The maintence of the band is a pain and not worth it IMO. Also it will take several fills for you to get restriction so all the weight you loose those first months are all on your own! Useless! Can you tell I don't have a good relationship with my band? Lol Also the band is marketed as being reversible but the damage that it can do to you is not. Just not worth it to me! Good luck with whatever way you decide.
  17. I'm sorry to hear that. I'll pray that things get better for you.
  18. Oh ok. VST and LBT (lapband talk) are apart of the same. Hollis did my lapband so not sure why it did that but I will change it. Thanks Lisa!
