At my highest weight - 230 lbs - I knew I had to do something. I was heavier than ever, even than when I was pregnant. I got out of breath easily - walking to the car or the hallway at work, the market and my face would get sweaty easily. I avoided going places where I may run into people I knew because I was embarrased. After almost two years of research and "thinking about" having surgery, I took the first step and went to a seminar with Top Surgeons. I then met with a nutritionist for 6 months only to find out that my insurance wouldn't cover an out-of-network facility. In January I contacted Alvarado Hospital in San Diego. They were so quick to respond and so helpful. I sent in my paperwork and in February I went to my first Dr. appointment. Dr. Bhoyrul was so nice! All the people coming out of their appointments came out with a smile and making positive comments. I knew then I had picked the right surgeon. My post-op was set for March 26th and my surgery was on March 29th. I'm so excited about my new journey. Today I'm at 204 lbs...and this is just the beginning!
