  1. I'm laughing at sucking the salt off the fry. I can't hardly get my meal replacements down (3x/day), but I HAD to taste an olive the other day and literally sucked the thing to a little shriveled mess! Need salt! LOL.
  2. Sil you look amazing!! You lost a lot of weight already! Thanks for being such a supporter. I'll read your guys blogs..... I wrote one too, but I kind of look at it like a journal so we'll see. Have a great Memorial Day everybody!

    Ouch

Couldn't even imagine posting Thur or Friday and I'm up and doing really well this morning so here it is. Surgery and recovery was more difficult than I had imagined. I yelled at everyone when I got home -- mom, daughter, friend -- hated everyone and everything. So much shoulder and belly pain I could not function for about 6-7 hours after surgery. Then I just sat down in a chair and prayed hard. I should be grateful! And I did feel better after that, not a lot, but a little. Sipped some water and slept about 6 hours. Better. Thursday was great. Walked 20 minutes, drank the shakes, water intake good, felt good. Decided to nap late in the afternoon and woke up with terrible shoulder pain again. Took pain med and slept. Friday was not great. Didn't feel great (shoulder and gas pain), but managed to walk, drink, shower. Fell asleep last night praying again. Woke up really early and laid in bed and got rid of gas for like 30 minutes. Sitting here putting on makeup to go to WW and the store this morning! I've been given a tremendous gift. Insurance covered this procedure and God saw me through the surgery. Its my turn to stand up and make the most of this!!!:frown:

    Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

I read your story and thought about waking up. I think I was talking (under an oxygen mask) but I don't remember what about? The last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist asking me about Cayman Islands. I think??? That was my first general as well. Strange.

    Banded Yesterday and . . .

I feel all of you. Yesterday was a repeat of the day before, but this morning I woke up and nothing hurt. I went for a 20 minute walk and am drinking the first of three Meal Replacement shakes of the day. I guess maybe the rest did it? Last night I slept about 7 hours which is the most I could sleep after surgery. I love to sleep on my left side and that just isn't possible right now :-). I got banded Wednesday afternoon, so I'm four days out (about). I'm not gonna push it today, but I definitely feel I'm turning the corner!

    Banded Yesterday and . . .

I feel you on the mac truck, but I just got back from walking 15 minutes and I feel pretty good. I'm two days ahead of you, so there is light at the end of the pain tunnel! Take it easy on yourself today -- let us know how you are doing tomorrow :-)
  7. I'm glad you are doing well, Palm! Keep in touch :-)

    Banded Yesterday and . . .

Hi Queen! I got banded Wednesday too, and was a little up and down. Better today though. I'm with you all the way on the excitement of the journey and what is to come! Thanks for your uplifting post :-)

    Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

My surgery was scheduled for noon on 5/26. It actually was about 1 :30, and I had a major hiatial hernia repair on top of the banding and I didn't get out of surgery until around 3:30. By the time I got out of recovery I was the last patient in the post-op center and I got more attention than I really wanted. I didn't feel good at all in recovery. I got a bunch of pain medication (as much as they could give me) and I remember this guy next to me asking to go home (yes, in recovery) and saying "that lady next to me is really bad". The nurse told him I had more major surgery than he did. Anyways I spent almost 3 hours in the post-op center before I was able to go home. I had some water and green jello and went potty but I was just in terrible pain -- primarily left shoulder -- and I asked to be admitted but they refused. Shorten the story -- within 12 hours I was pretty much back to a 1 or a 2 pain wise. I am walking, going to church and doing a couple other things this weekend. My biggest recommendation -- take the pain meds they prescribe for you the first day -- it will make you feel better, enough to walk around and eliminate some of that gas. This is by far the biggest thing I've ever done for myself and my health and I'm looking forward to the rest of this story!!!:cursing:

    Its the day!!!

:thumbup:I didn't sleep all that well but I am organized that's for sure. I have everything ready for coming home and spending a couple days just resting and recuperating. My surgery is at noon, but I'm leaving to be at the center at 9:30 for a 10:00am checkin. Its only 3 hours away. Had some time so I decided to keep a pictoral journal of this journey. Loving life!

    Four Days Until Surgery!!

I can't wait! I'm traveling for business and I'm not eating well or exercising, but I just want to get this done! There are little bumps in the road -- wierd insurance and a different reaction from my friend who I thought was taking me and picking me up from surgery. But these are just bumps. Read someone's blog today about being 11 days post op and losing 20 lbs. I need to do that. I'm so sluggish. Tomorrow I'm flying home so that should go by pretty fast. Monday and Tuesday I'm working so that should help too?! I can only hope!!!

    Looking for May Bandsters

I'm the 26th too. It seems like this month has taken FOREVER!! I just want it done and move on already! LOL.
  13. Now it seems like it is zipping by -- many things to do before the surgery! I'm SO ready though! Email me anytime: sandy.devine@cox.net Good luck!
  14. Hey everybody, I'm more at the end of May, but looking for a person or group to bond with over concerns before and issues afterwards as well as motivate each other! Let me know!! I live in Southern California............ 5-3 and will be about 260 before surgery. No big pre-surgery diets but need to lose 10 lbs by then and well on the way.

    Two Weeks and Counting

Yesterday was the pre-surgery visit which went fine, although I'm realizing that for some reason I'm always at the back of the line? I get to the office first and have to wait for other people and then they get done before me with the same people and procedures! I need to let this go -- stupid. So I need to lose 5 more lbs before surgery and I was pretty honest yesterday -- lack of significant weight loss is due to "last meal" scenarios with friends and family. I started doing 2 Slim Fasts and 1 meal a day (and a better one at that) today, so we'll see how it goes after Saturday. Don't want to weigh every day and just be disappointed or down for any reason. Loving life!!!
  16. I was scheduled for 7:30 am which was great. They moved me yesterday to 1:30pm which means a long time without water! I hope I don't have to stay over night!!!:scared2:
  17. Absolutely! Shoot me an email and we'll stick together! sandy.devine@cox.net Tomorrow is my pre-surgery visit with doctor, nutritionist, etc. I'm ready!
  18. That sounds good! Do you want to email stuff? My email is sandradee0124@yahoo.com. Thanks! I'll be about a month behind you, but I'll keep up on conversation...........

    A little worried about water

When I went in for the initial seminar I asked this question (I take bp meds too and cramp up without at least 96 oz of water a day). The doctor told me that after surgery I should sip water all the time (a couple sips a shot) EXCEPT with meals when I have none. Suggested G2 instead of water. I'm with you; a little concerned about the hydration issue..............

    OMG! I am devistated!

Ouch. I think that is who my surgury center will be; but I'll find out for sure next week. Do you have Anthem HMO? If you do, do you have a second hospital option like Fountain Valley Hospital??? Maybe check that???

    So Many Questions!!!

I thought I responded, but I'm just getting the hang of the forum. Thank you for your recommendations! Keep me posted on dates; we can support each other!!!
  22. Hey everybody! I've been working toward getting Lap-band® approved by insurance since January, AND ITS FINALLY DONE!! I meet with the doctor next week, and its typically 2-3 weeks before surgery! I probably won't schedule until mid-May because I have family coming to visit and I want to be sure I feel well during their trip. I've done a lot of research, but this forum has a lot of "real world" information, so I plan on spending some time reading in the next several weeks. I have two basic questions at this point: 1. Any recommendations for Protein shakes (taste good/less calories) for the first couple of weeks? 2. How about Vitamins and supplements? At the introductory seminar, we were told to take liquid supplements or crush pills. Any preference? And if liquids are the way to go any "chain" recommendations? This is a great site. I look forward to "meeting" a lot of you in the next few months (and years) of major transformation.
