    Disappointed..25 days post-op

Hi and thank you for sharing your experience. I too have been trying to stay positive. I am constantly looking at before and after pictures of people that have been banded and I become hopeful I know what you mean about our doctors. No one in told me that I would be able to eat anything and everything I wanted during the first month! After 7 days post op, I called doctor's office and they told me that it was normal for me to feel as hungry as I do and that I was not getting sick after I ate because I was "wide open" = no restrictions. I am hopeful - for all of us, that once we start getting our fills, we won't beyond our "fill" point. Best of Luck, Keep in touch and please let me know how you are progressing. It means a lot!!!!!

    Disappointed..25 days post-op

thanks everyone for sharing your struggles and successes. I get my first fill next Friday - in the meantime, the band is just like an ornament. I can hardly wait to feel restrictions. Right now, all I feel is hungry. I am 29 days post-op now and down 13 lbs since surgery. Problem is, I lost all that weight the first 6 days post op and have been loosing a 1/2 lb and gaining a 1/2 lb. since. I am getting encouraged when I hear everyone else's story about being in the same boat and then having successful and significant weight loss after a couple of fills. Thank you for sharing these stories! Keep them coming!
  5. That's the spirit! Definitely have the doctor fill you under floro - once! Best of luck to you!

    Disappointed..25 days post-op

Thank you for all the posts! Yes, I was not aware that until the first fill (or two or three) there is no restriction, just "an ornament" around the stomach (I like the analogy, thank you!). I am hopeful that, in time, we will all get to our goal. Others before us have done it, we will as well!!!!!!!!

    Disappointed..25 days post-op

thank you for your input and words of encouragement! Intellectually, i know you are absolutely right - the weight will come off - in time. It has worked for hundreds of other ppl., it will work for us! We did not waste our time and money - ultimately, I pray that it will be the best investment in our health and well being. Pls. let me know how you do after your first fill, and thereafter. Good luck to you
  8. Before my lap band surgery, I spent 7months imagining how my life would be transformed after WLS. I thought, "No more dieting, no more bingeing and overeating" Well, 25 days out, and I'm always hungry - especially afternoon and evening and, I just had a bowl of ice cream! What is that? I lost 13 lbs 7 days post-op and have not lost anything since. I had been watching my food intake, drinking 70 oz of water but not able to stop at 4 oz of food. Doctor said that I was pretty open so it is not unusual to be hungry. My concern is that I will gain back the 13lbs before my first fill. My second concern is that the fill won't stop me from being hungry and eating as i have been. The 3rd concern is that I just waisted my time, money and energy on my last hope at getting to a healthy weight. I don't mean to sound like a pessimist , but I truly thought this was going to be different. I mean, I thought that the lap banned would be the perfect tool to stop me from overeating when I can't do it for myself. Has everyone else experienced this disappointment early on? If so, did it get better and how...Thank you!:wink:
  9. I haven't had any fills yet as I'm only 25 post op, but I just wanted to say that I was sorry to hear you had such a rough time of it. Please hang in there. I will pray for you!

    Restriction Finally!!!!

Thank you so very much for your post! I am 23 days post-op and feel like I've never been banned. I have been eating everything and anything I want. I have, however, been eating a bit healthier. I am so glad for comment about finding it hard to believe when ppl. say, "I can't eat another bite". I have never had that experience and was hoping for it post-lap band surgery. I am trying to hang in there , even though the scale seems to have gotten stuck. I lost 13 lbs. in the first 6 days post-op, and have been fluctuating 1-2 lbs since with no other significant weight loss. Did you have the same experience? How long since you had your surgery? Total wt. loss? Did you feel hungry shortly after surgery? Thank you for your responses. I truly appreciate it!

    STARVING!! 4 Days Post-Op

I just posted a similar post. I am 6 days post op and I am starving as well. I have cheated with cheesecake - literally less than a thimble full, and saw that nothing really bad happened. I am so hungry certain times of the day that I can scream. By day 6, the hunger is still there, but there is also a calm. My doctor said I can start protein shakes tomorrow - whey protein powder, chocolate flavored. I hear that it is pretty tasty. Check with your MDs office if you are permitted to have protein shakes. I think the doctor would prefer you have protein shakes to Ritz crackers. But I know what you are going through, believe me! I have lost nearly 12 lbs and I am starting to feel a bit better already! Good luck with this - keep an eye on the diarrhea, you don't want to get dehydrated! Keep in touch!:)
  12. :smile:Yes, starting tomorrow. I can't wait! I have already purchased my chocolate whey protein powder, yum!
  13. thanks so much for your suggestions. I will check with my dr's office in the morning. hopefully I can have some creamed soup and yams! Yams? Really? How wonderful!
  14. Hello Everyone, First, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to finally be writing this! I have waited for what has felt like forever since I made the decision to get WLS. I am 6 days post -op and this is the first day I finally feel much better. Prior, I had a lot of gas pain in my diaphragm which radiated to my shoulder. I could hardly breath much less walk. Anyway, I have been drinking Water, clear broths, decaf teas, diet Snapple, etc... and I am starving. So, I took a nibble of some cheesecake we had left over from Easter - nothing happened, so I took another nibble and no dumping or nausea or pain. I have since stopped - don't want to press my luck. I am very hungry and would love to eat something real, but I am afraid. I guess I took the nibble of cheesecake - my favorite, out of habit. I am shocked that nothing happened. Has anyone else experience this? How did you handle the hunger during the 7 days after surgery when you can't eat? I have two days left before I get moved to "soft food" and I am going out of my mind. Thank you!
