    Harder than I thought.

Ok, I am almost three weeks post of and I must say that this is a little harder than I expected. It is easier to eat junk, (Not that I have been..although I have more than I should, but not as much as previously), why IS it easier to eat junk? I was trying to stay as low carb as possible to maximize my weightloss, but have found that as long as I have as much or more protein than carbs, it is easier. I called my dr's office today, they found me a cancellation, a week earlier than before...I so need a fill. I am excited to get this ball rolling, and get my sweet spot.

    All I have eaten today

IMO, I would think that the seltzer is better (diet even more so) HOWEVER, I say try to break the habit NOW, before your surgery and then you wont have to worry about breaking it later. The carbonation is a no-no and why not start now? Also, the carbonation is not what makes you full, it just makes you burp  Let us know how it goes, or what you pick  K

    Menu Help

Lower carbs, Higher Protein. Although I have to say that 10 to 11 lbs a month is nothing to shake a stick at.

    All I have eaten today

I agree with Nean, the fake sugar in the soda makes me even hungrier. AND there is the fact that soon, you can't have it anyway. maybe limit yourself to one a day? (Thats assuming you are drinking more than one..sorry lol) try it, you may see that you are not as hungry. Hang in..it is all worth it in the end.

    One month since...

I have posted to my blog. I have never been really good at posting or keeping up with things I started..when it comes to writing. I am going to try to do better at this. I have been seeing Dr. Anthony Gonzalez (sp) in Miami. I had my surgery, two weeks ago tomorrow. It was at South Miami Hospital and the care I recieved was phenomenal. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am down 13 lbs since my surgery. I love life, but I will say this is a little hard to get used to. I have been having a hard time with gas, think it might be the RTD protein shakes. When I eat, I have a little pain right under my right rib (kindof near my diaphram). I haven't figured out this pain yet, but today it is easing up. I think it is gas. Weird. I love my life and am so excited to see where I will be in six months. I started walking, and hit between 700-1000 calories depending on what I eat. Yesterday I was hungry all day. I am trying to watch that, and also stick with high protein. That pain, maybe I ate too much? Oh well, it's a learning curve I guess. My first fill is scheduled for June 9th, six weeks after my surgery. It is all good. I am so excited. Until we meet again, Good day. K:thumbup:

    thought he was coming around

Karmaandkismet, This sounded like you might be married to my husband. He was not on board (being an average weight all his life he has no clue) however, as it go closer to my surgery (I did everything you did. Kept pluggin along with the requirements and getting the stuff done ALONE, that he finally came to and realized I meant business. After the surgery, he was much better, he went to the store for me...he got me stuff for my eating, and so forth, but it was harder in the beginning. He is scared. That's what I say. Scared something is going to happen to you, or maybe he is scared that you are going to "Change" after you get healthy. Have you tried to talk to him about his feelings? Let him know that you are going through with it anyhoo, and you want his support. It might take a little bit of hurt, but in the end, I am sure it will be worth it. Need some sounding, come back to us. Just keep on keepion on...you will be much happier (I am 14 days post of and down as many lbs) We are here for you. If he keeps bringing the stuff home, just try your best to stay away from it. Moderation or a lil bit I can say will change his aspect a little too I think. Mine brought home a cake for mothers day. I wont lie, I had a small SMALL piece and sent it to work with him the next day. He was fine with it. Good Luck! K

How to deal with snacks and a family

    Wow, I think I posted that myself (nah, not really, but this is something I have had problems with for years). Have you tried throwing the stuff out? I know, expensive but I would think it would take like one or two times. They just do not get it. Or, maybe you can request that he take your daughters OUT for ice cream or dessert. My husband is notorious for this, and I must say, that since getting my band, he is a little more receptive. He brought home a cake the other day (yes, shame on me but I tried and had no problem) I allotted it in my calories, but told him the next morning when he went to work, the cake went with him. Understand honey, you are not alone in this boat. {{{{Hugs}}}}
  10. I too had the band..Love Dr. Gonzalez. I had it on the 29th of April. How are you doing since your surgery?

    Weeks 1-4 eating requirements?

I too have the same requirements. I think it is across the board with those two things...I am curious to see if they are.

    I worried people today

I agree with the other girls. I would imagine, that the BP could be from being dehydrated? Are you going to see the dr? You need to. Let us know what they said! It's like having another family, the band family, we worry too. K

In the middle of the night....

K-butterfly, Have you tried a heating pad? I slept with one the first week and a half. Put it on you upper shoulders or upper back if that is where the pain is. One day you will wake up and it will be gone :scared2: Trust me. (I am only 11 days out)
  14. have any of you woken up in pain? I woke up last night or should I say early this am with horrible pain. I cannot pinpoint it but would say it felt like it was in the middle of my back. So I get up, and think this hurts. I drank half a bottle of protein shake and went back to bed. I really think it was hunger. How many has this happened to? Thanks ya'll!
  15. I just wanted to say that I just got done reading your blog. You are such an inspiration to me. I go for my first fill on the 19th . I am excited. <3

    4th of July Challenge!

I WANT IN TOO! I am with you...not on SOLIDs but I too am aiming high....going for 25 by the 4th. THIS would be awesome. I am so excited. Let's get this show on the road! K:tt2:
  17. Nancy, Except for the time and approval process, I read your post, and thought that I had written your post. I felt this same way. I had never had any surgery and was apprehensive to say the least. But although it is hard to get used to it a little bit, IT WILL BE THE BEST DECISION YOU MAKE FOR YOURSELF! Hang in there and use us as a sounding board to answer questions (I don't have much time under my belt-I am 11 days post surgery- or much experience, but there are ALOT of experienced bandsters here.) and support. We are here for you! K

    Measuring food?

I am glad to read these posts. I have been dealing with the pain of either eating too fast or eating too much. I started off the day today with a protein shake with added protein. I drank it all. I am not feeling too much pain so, it went down fine. I found that the ok from my doctor to start soft foods and mushies, made me go overboard. I am excited to get this band thing under control. This overeating thing needs to be put down, for me. The first few weeks (I am only 11 days out form surgery) are so HARD. I resolve today to measure measure measure~ Thank You all! You do not know just how much you have helped me. K:thumbup:

    5 days post op

I have that feeling too. I sleep with a heating pad on at night. I have been eating gas x, It helps a little but not much. I also have barely burped at all. I just get a feeling like a bubble and a small pain. I wouldn't change it though! I can't wait to eat real food though, or even mushies. Good luck all on our journey!

    April 30 surgery - Hungry?

MominKansas. I eat either Healthy choice or Campbells. I love them both. :blushing: I do add a little salt to the healthy choice though. Misty, mmmmm grilled dogs, I would even eat them blended. I must confess that I had a small (Brach's) piece fo chocolate and let it melt in my mouth...it was divine. I just wish this gas pain would go away. It makes it hard to breathe sometime. ::thumbdown:
  21. Callous, I cannot even imagine having hiccups. I had two today ( I think I drank too much) and they hurt. That gas pocket in my chest is a booger that won't go away! I too did the M.O.M and will take more tonight. Good luck! K

    April 30 surgery - Hungry?

Misty, Yeah for you! I was banded the day before you and I can say, my husband made his pasta sauce and penne (whole grian, high fiber) and for a minute I contemplated blending it in my magic bullet and having dinner with them. Nah, I stuck with my split pea and ham soup (with added whey protein.) I am amazed too that I am not hungry. Most of the time. It is hard distinguishing between hunger and gas pains..for lal of mine are in my abdomen area. Sometimes I feel like I am gonna pass out...the gas gets under my lungs and heart. I just stop and take a few deep breaths until it subsides. Yeah for us. I think the band does help with the brain.:tongue2:
  23. I too was banded last week, the 29th and feel that the bloating is significantly less. The gas on the other hand, is horrible. I take gasx, walking all the time, and although it is less, it is still there. Sometimes, I feel like I am having a heartattack, because that one pocket keeps going up under my heart and lungs. Heating pad works wonders though. Good luck ya'll!
  24. Thank you. it is like ya'll reached inside of my mind and took out it's contents. I have been feeling the same thing (albiet three days) but the head hunger gets me for about 15 seconds. As of yet. As of yet. I know I can only do liquids, so I think that is what is saving me. I would have this done seven more times. I LOVE MY BAND! How ya'll feeling? Physically?
  25. I had my surgery on Thursday and am now eating liquids. I have even pureed chicken noodle (healthy choice) and added a little water, and had high fiber oatmeal (pureed made with twice the milk and today I am adding whey to it) I also strained it. I figured, since they gave me this in the hospital, I could have it? It is hard getting enough protein in though I must say. I barely eat, and drinking water, and this make me not hungry. The gas is dissapating though FINALLY. GET A HEATING PAD for your shoulders and lower back. GOOD LUCK!
