  1. I have a HealthOmeter something or other. I bought it at target over 2 years ago for about $20 on sale. Its pretty accurate (I think) it usually comes close to the same readings as my Surgeon's scale. And is always the same as the scale in the WLS research lab (Im a part of a study). However the last time I was at the surgeon's there was a huge difference. But Im inclined to believe my home scale because is has always matched the readings of the research Lab's scale, which HAS to be accurate for the purposes of the study.
  2. I was banded on 9/25/07. I really want to go above 14 also but I need a jump start. I feel like I dont know how to so it anymore. Ive been around the same weight for the last 2 weeks even with ramped up cardio. Ive started to attempt to journal my meals. I think I may find the answer somewhere in the food. But its also TOM so that could be it too. Before this challenge I was hoping for 275 by my birthday in March. But if I make the challenge Im shooting for 265 by StPatty's (the day after my birthday).
  3. OMG nothing fits anymore! How can I be happy and sad about that at the same time? Wow I glad to have this dilemma!
  4. I love the raw ones in my stir frys.
  5. If you are constantly vomiting there is a problem that is so not normal. I didnt experience any bad breath after the "geeze I smell like anesthesia" went away. However I got BO for the first month. I think that was ketosis though. Im fine now.
  6. Im not a super cook or anything. I use it to grill my protien.
  7. Im up for it! 14 by the 14th is pretty ingenious!
  8. My mother's Hamilton Beech kitchen grill. Its better than a foreman.
  9. ME TOO! On the 16th. Hey twenty-somethings! My name is Sabrina. Like nadean, Im 27 turning 28 in March. I was banded on sept 25th 07 and so far Ive lost about 52lbs. Im happy with that but Id hoped for more, I cant lie. Ive been fat my whole life so this isnt a journey back to when I was skinny. This is a journey into uncharted territory and Im trying to be brave. Im an unemployed recent grad, back home after finishing school in upstate NY. Im a native and life-long Manhattanite. A city girl through and through. Im happily child-free but regretfully single. Im hoping that as I lose weight Ill start to date more. It a little tough being a fat girl in this city.
  10. Hazeleyegrl, I totally understand. Im happy with my weightloss but Id hoped for more. 11. This was the same for me. I had no idea before the band what goal size or weight I felt best at. Its such a weird felling. It is seriously uncharted territory. Now Ive set my ultimate goal weight at 175 and BMI of around 23. Im 6'1" so its pretty much in the center of my healthy range. I havent told any of my friends or family my goal weight because I dont want their opinions. Rather, I dont want to further discuss their opinions about my weight. Also I am really scared of that number and always feel the need to explain myself when I do discuss it. Even here I want to say its because of my height or build or whatever. Im sure its a little of the "who are you trying to convince? me or you?" syndrome. Im 292 now so I have at least 100lbs to go, that should give me time.
  12. Hey. I was banded just 2 days before you and I have only noticed bloating at tom or after I eat dairy. Im lactose intolerant. So, it may be something you are eating. Some foods are harder to digest than others. How is you fiber intake?
  13. Congrats! This is just the sort of good news I need at the start of my 100Lbs in 08 mission.
  14. I am giving myself a lifestyle makeover. I have decided that 2008 is the year of Me. Its the year where I come first. My physical and mental health, financial stability, and education/career path are my top priorities. I have promised myself that: I will take my appearance more seriously I will lose 100lbs in '08 I will write more I will keep a cleaner house I will be the star of my own life Good luck with your goals this year!
  15. I finally realized that I HATED being fat. Ive had tons of "moments" but I really just got sick of hating myself the way I was. I found the band while researching the bypass and I literally found the answer. It was truly an epiphany. I am so grateful that I stumbled onto it.
  16. Hey tall ladies! Im 6"1' and my sizes have stayed pretty consistent. Im usually 1/2-1 whole size smaller on the top than the bottom. In the beginning: 344- 24/24 top 26 bottom both (pretty snug) Now: 298- 18-22 top (varies by store) 22/24 bottoms If I remember correctly I should be an 18/20 (top) and 22 (bottom) at 280. I dont have any weight lower than that to compare. Anything below that was when I was 14, didnt weight myself, and wore men's jeans. Womens' 36 inseams were hard to come by in '94. They still are. The funny thing is that I have always fit a Gap xxl top. the moral of the story: Ive been fat for a long time.
  17. Its killing me not buying anything new. I hate to look frumpy or unkempt. Ive always been really well dressed so now that Im walking around looking like my clothes swallowed me I feel super self-conscious. Its hard walking around the city not looking my best. BUT...Im ecstatic that I am losing because Ill look much better in an 18, 16, 14, and 10 than I ever did when I was a 24! Hurray for melting!
  18. I dont have the hots for my band Surgeon but Im pretty sure that while under anesthesia I said something fresh to him or his fellow. The last thing I remember is the nurse telling me "these are my guys". I dont know what I said but Im sure it was fresh. So every time I go to the office Im a little embarrassed. I wish I knew what I said. I have a really dirty mind so it could be anything.
  19. I guess Im the oddball because the 2nd day home I woke up on my stomach just like always. No pain no discomfort nothing. I never fall asleep on my stomach but I always wake up there.
  20. Hey Western New Yorkers! I went to school right outside of ROC and I just LOVED it. I was banded down here in NYC but I just thought Id wave hey. I hope your Doc is awesome good luck!
  21. I cant really explain it but I feel prettier. I smile easier, not because Im happier but because I have a nice smile.
  22. hey there debbie and shloimke! On christmas day Ill be 3 months post op. Ive seen a slight difference in my clothes and I wish my band was tighter. However even loose Im down 46lbs which is pretty awesome.
