I reached another milestone last night and a couple this morning.
We went out to dinner last night to Gringo's Mexican food. This is the first week of no real food restrictions other than the carb laden foods. I ordered the Fajita salad without the flour bowl. I had them bring me diced fresh jalapenos and onions with a side of the Amazon sauce for dressing. I had 7 chips with red and green salsa. I had to. The salad was good. 30 mins after we got our meals, I was only 1/3 done with my meal. I was the only one eating at that time. The rest of the family had finished 10 minutes before me. I brought the rest of the salad home. The fajita meat is really good at that place
I took my blood sugar fasting this morning and it was 118. That is a little on the upper end of the normal tolerance. But the milestone was that I have not been taking diabetes meds and that was a great level for me!
I weighed myself this morning and I was 267. I haven't been that weight in years. I am also able to run at 5mph on the treadmill for a couple minutes now. I am going to increase the running time during my 2 mile treadmill workout.
I am very glad that I made the decision to get healthier. It is not real easy and it is a little struggle at times, but as long as I keep my eyes on the prize, I can run this race!

even after being banded for over 2 years i still run into this problem.....i can go out to dinner enjoy my meal bring home the leftovers for the next day and i wont be able to get it down, but you did the right thing by resting..... dont force it because it will cause you to throw up which could lead to other complications. i have found that if i wait too long to eat and im really hungry that my band feels tight and im not able to eat at all, also i have problems eating as soon as i wake up in the mornings so i usually wait a few hours before i try any food and if im stressed or having any anxiety it makes it difficult for me to eat. Trust me you will learn over time what is your bands and bodys "normal" and it does take some getting used to

I didn't have anything for about two months. After that, I'm only a wine drinker. No carbonation at all!

EVERYONE tried to talk me out of getting the Lap Band. Everything from "You can do it on your own" to "Oh you don't need that, you're not that big" and beyond. My fiancé's cousin had it years ago and is still morbidly obese because he eats around the band constantly, so of course he told me "it doesn't work". I let everyone have their opinion and did what was best for me...I have never regretted it. I feel better physically and mentally, and I never get tired of the compliments!

getting the band was a personal decision that i made with my husband, my sister also knows and is very supportive because she has seen me struggle with my weight my whole life. I am very selective with the people i share my decision with because so many people look at it as anegative thing and think its an easy fix, but its not, i do struggle with food at times but i have had to learn over the past 2 years what i can and can not eat. Yes it is discouraging for my husbnad at times but he knows that i am happier and healthier than i have ever been and to be honest with you getting the lapband saved my marriage....all i can say is good luck, follow your surgeons advice and listen to your body

i have a desk job and a very nosey boss, so the day of my surgery(thursday) i called in with a Migraine and went back to work the next day(Friday)....mind you i was very blotted and had my husband drive me to work but i was fine to sit all day. my worst time was at night because i sleep on my stomach which of course was not possible. dont try to lay flat and use lots of pillows when you sleep. just remember to listen to your body. good luck and congrats on the wedding
