  1. So tonight I am having my first food since having surgery. We had a casserole for dinner so I blended it up. It's heaven! I'm not sure how to tell though if I'm full. That might sound really weird. I've never really had a "full" sensation even before surgery. I'm worried about eating too much, especially with it being my first meal. I put 1/4 cup of food in a small bowl and Im eating it slowly with a baby spoon. I figured I wouldn't eat any more than 1/4 cup just to make sure. But has anyone else experienced this? Do you just continue to measure your food to make sure that you are within certain guidelines?
  2. So here goes a TMI question. I have been due for my period but I assumed because of surgery, things would get thrown off a good bit. For the last couple days, ive been experiencing little clots and a very minimal amount of blood. But it is extremely dark brown, almost black. I know dark blood usually = old blood. But has anyone else experienced anything like this? Should it be something I should bring up to my doctor or do you think it's just my body's way of trying to be normal in a not so normal time?
  3. I had my surgery on March 12th. Here we are the night of March 19th. Im dying for something to eat. I did a 30 day diet before surgery which I did great on and worked well for me. I lost a little over 20 pounds. Then the day before surgery was clear liquid all day, and since surgery clear liquids. I drink water, a bit of juice, and if I can stand the taste, a couple sips of broth. For some reason I thought that at my first follow up visit, I went from just clear liquids to full liquids. But apparently I must have made that up in my head because it's not in my book they gave me. It only says that protein shakes can be added. I hate shakes. Every single one makes me vomit. I found one that I can drink a few sips of here and there and be ok. But that is it. I just want to eat something. Honestly, I don't care if I even swallow the food. I want to chew something. I want to taste something. I just want to feel like im eating something even if i'm not. Gum isn't an option for me because I swallow it very easily and that would be really bad. 2 weeks on just water, juice, and sips of broth here and there? Is everyone's post-op diet like this? When I go to my dr tomorrow im considering asking him if I can add any other kind of liquids to my diet like tomato soup or something so I can feel like im not going absolutely crazy.
  4. I am 4 days out (surgery was wednesday) from having my revision from lap band to bypass. I had this all planned out in my mind as going perfectly. Im one to bounce back fast and this has been anything but. To be honest, im pretty scared and emotional. The surgery itself i've been told went pretty well. There was a lot of scarring inside from the band. He left a drainage tube in place which I know is pretty routine. I wasn't getting much comfort from pain medication at all. My oxygen levels kept going down which im sure was due to the pain. The doctor sent me home Friday towards evening with oxygen and pain meds. Through the evening and into the night it just got worse and worse. Around 930am I finally couldn't take it anymore.I was shaking crying and hurting so badly. He had me come back to the hospital. He thought maybe I had gotten dehydrated. Im sure that is possible. How are you supposed to keep up on the Fluid intake while you are resting? Finally around 6pm the Dr gets back to my room and decides he is going to take out the drainage tube. That was a large relief from pain. My oxygen stats increased, but im still in a decent bit of pain. So now I am the evening of the 4th day. I've taken meds to keep me from getting sick twice. I made sure to get my Vitamins in. Im trying hard to get the 2oz of liquids every 30 minutes in but im struggling. And the pain just wont subside much. Im a complete emotional mess. Im worried about having panic attacks and making things worse. I did this to improve my health and right now I feel like i've made the biggest mistake of my life. I know I can't be the only one feeling like this. I want to know there is light at the end of this tunnel. Any suggestions you can give to help the pain, get my fluids down, not become an emotional mess, anything really. I would appreciate it.

    Hampton Roads/Peninsula thread

Hey was wondering if anyone from the Hampton Roads area is still around here on the board? I was just banded back in April by Dr. T. Looking for some friends in the area to meet up with, and also any additional support groups around here besides the monthly one through the clinic.
  13. I was wondering if anyone on here has any Tripp or Torrid brand clothes that are just laying around that they have shrunk out of? If so, let me know! Im looking for some in various sizes as the weight comes off <3

Scared Im Not Getting Enough Protein

The only kind of protein stuff I have is the shakes. I also tried a fruit flavored like drink and that was even worse LOL. What other protein options do I have? Any idea if there is a pill or something? That would be so much easier right now and surely ease my mind. But I feel like im getting a decent amount of fluids in general. Im not feeling ubber weak and as the pains subside, im able to do more. And im urinating like normal and its light to clear. So I think im ok. Just worried about the darn protein.
  15. I was just banded on April 29th. So, im of course on liquid diet. I feel like im doing ok staying hydrated (DH says as long as my urine stays clear to light im hydrated). Now when it comes to getting protein, im not doing so well. Anything besides water, ice chips, and maybe a sugar free icepop here and there is just so unappealing to me. So much so that when I make a shake or broth and put it infront of me, I feel like im going to vomit. Im going to try and find some of the unflavored protein that I can add to water or whatever I can stand to take in. But im really scared that im not getting the protein I need and something will happen to me. Did anyone go through their post-op diet without the protein? Ive started taking the chewable complete vitamin but I dont think they have protein. Help??
