You ROCK!!! I soo can't wait for that!! Good going!!!

My doc left mine empty at time of surgery. It's for healing and getting used to the regime of eating slow. I couldn't imagine what the discomfort (few and far between) would feel like if I had a small fill right away!

I got the same results with my blood work along with Calcium. I just take a Viactiv chocolate chew every day. When I went for my 1st consult, the nurse running the seminar said that most people have these Vitamin ( Calcium and D )problems after banding. I look at it as I was ahead of the game and started treatment 6 months in advance.

Yes, it will flush food through too fast and most importantly, you won't be able to retain all the nutrients you take in. I was told the same thing, stop liquids 1/2hr before meal and not to start again until 1/2hr after meal. It's tuff sometimes, but I have now turned into a clock watcher!! I thought I only did that at work :bored:!

I'm in!!! :bored: 10lbs sounds good to me!! I have my 1st fill on 5/3 so I wanted to try and get to 5lbs down by then (I'm kinda at a standstill right now:thumbdown:)!! This will be awsome!! Good luck everyone!!

Yeah it's tough. I just put the recommended meal amounts on my little plate and when it's gone..I'm done. I do the 1/2 hr slow eating thing. I graduated to real food today and so far so good! Breakfast was AWSOME:thumbup:!! I agree with the others, take it slow and your body will tell ya what to do!
p.s. Journey...me too! The most hunger I experience is at night too. About 9pm after I get done working it hits me hard!

That's what the meds are there for!! If ya need 'em...take 'em! I know when I get home from work tonite, I'm gonna have a bit ( sorta gassy and achy tonite)!
Keep up the good work

Good for you!! I'm 3wks banded today!:tt1: The gas will ease up, but it'll take awhile. I'm still having issues with that. It was the hiccuping that killed me the first couple days after surgery! Just don't push yourself and rest when you need too. And liquid tylenol is awsome!! Works almost as quick as narcotics, without the loopy feeling ! Good luck and stay strong!

HI!!
I was banded on 3/5/10!! It will get better, I had trouble getting enough Water intake also. Just keep at it, the gas is still there but sooo worth it! Just don't over do it, rest when you have to. I have my achy moments too (one right now matter of fact), but the doc said on my follow-up that it'll ease up in a couple weeks. With the results I'm expecting, it'll all be worth it!

I know that with my doctor and nutritionist, they set a loss goal for me. I was to lose at least 10lbs before surgery. I really appreciated it too. The monthly visits to the NUT and weigh ins...I learned to control my portions better! Every doc is different, but they will probably discuss that with you too!
As far as the BMI, was told to try and not go too low (for the same insurance reasons). Just don't be afraid to ask the insurance co-ordinator for the bariatric surgery doctors/clinic!
