  1. So I am going to try out the receipe and ask my co-workers to try them... Anyways, I agree with you, we are alot alike - should have finished college years ago when we were closer, just unfortunately, was not mature enough then, and or focused like we are today... Its good to have something to focus on and keep our minds occupied from food.. I dont know about you, but I am still alittle hungry every day, but if I keep drinking the water, it keeps me full for the meantime.. Just have to stop gulping... Hope you pass your math class. Keep in touch....

  2. So anyways, I did go out and purchase a healthy cooking book, found a very interesting one by Rocco Dispirito - he is the chef for the Biggest Loser.. He takes ordinary meals and turns them to under 350 calories.. He even has a receipe for Brownies - made with Black beans. Believe this he took brownies which usually are 1,500 cal.. and turned it into 53 calories using black beans - AMAZING... He is also listed on U-tube when he did a News Channel, and one of the anchors ate 2 brownies before the show, not knowing they were made with black beans, and said he would have never believed it

  3. I dont know how that is healthy. The other lady was at 8 cc's and she could hardly swallow her spit without throwing up, I was like SERIOUSLY??? Why on earth would you torcher yourself like that? So what I have been reading on the posts, it seems like alot of people are happy right around 6-6.5 as their sweet spot.... What is your advice on this?

  4. I am not sure that I am getting my first fill this coming Monday, as it will be 4 weeks post op, when I went 2 days after surgery, 2 other people in front of me were 4 weeks post op and were told to come back in 2 weeks and they would do the fill. I dont know about you, but I really only want to get 2 cc's for my first fill, and then try another 2 cc's, but really dont want to go more than 6. I have heard horror stories about 8 cc's and how people just cant get food down. Infact, there were 2 ladies in the office on my 2 day check up, and one, was at 7.5 cc's and eating a frappachino n few crackers as her meal as this was all she could get down

  5. I am still getting 4 - 24 oz of water in, but oh my - dont gulp.. I have a habit of gulping, and have since I was little, and so hard to break, however this evening, I felt the pain of gulping... Wont make that mistake again.... I just wanted to crumple over in pain, or try and get the pain medication they gave us after surgery - which I still have and took for an episode I did with chips n salsa (ate tooooooooo fast). I ended up taking the meds, and going to bed, woke up the next morning feeling so much better

  6. I will have 2 hard boiled eggs in the am, and maybe a yogurt = 240 cal.. or oatmeal and a banana = 240 cal, and then for lunch I might have tuna salad or chicken salad with wheat cracker = 300 cal or something healthy, and believe me, its all about those 15 crackers I can have, and then for dinner, I will have salmon with cooked veggies = 360 cal.., and I might do a sugarfree popcicle, fudgecicle or jello/pudding for desert = 100 cal. Making it a total of 1,000 - 1,200

  7. Wow 24 lbs is AWESOME... Way to go... I am at 16 and holding, getting really frustrated, even though I up'd my calories to 1,000 to 1,200 and I think I am going more for those 1,200 - so I will have to go back to like 900 and see how that works for me... The one thing I cant get over is that your eating a 1/2 to 3/4 cup a meal x 6, and I am eating 3 times a day and semi - medium portions

  8. So what have you been doing for the past week. The weather here too is alittle cold and rainy for California - its kinda strange. I have been walking like 30-45 minutes a day, and need to pick that up. I would like to go back to Jazzercise, however I heard we could not exercise for 6 weeks after surgery... Keep me posted on how your doing... I like talking with you, it helps alot

  9. But I am a trooper and will forge on... I too am a student at my age (45) but I took the summer off because of the lapband. I am going back fall semester and hope to finish out my AA by end of next fall, depending on how many credits I take. What are you studying? I am really wanting my BS in Business Management, so we will see. I have credits from younger years that I am hoping will transfer and only give me like a year, after my AA

  10. Yes, the port flipping is exactly as it sounds.. The port can flip, but they say unlikely, but does happen...Well congrats on the 1 pound. It is better than I am doing these days.. I am so frustrated... I could not lose weight without the lapband, and not have to be starving myself, if you know what I mean....

  11. Hi Lori:

Gosh, it has been a week since I was on here last, and still have NOT lost a pound.. I think I am doing this wrong, and not getting enough calories.. I am getting maybe 700 calories a day and like 40-60 proteins.. I heard that I need to get to 1,000 from chatting with people

  12. In the meantime, congrats on your 20 pounds and hope things are good. By the way, hope you had a great memorial weekend. Mine was good, but I was basically in bed most of the weekend due to T.O.M all day Saturday, and made it to the zoo on Sunday - which was not bad, just slow going, still issues with T.O.M and then rested most of the day on Monday. I am usually down for the count with T.O.M due to being anemic - they say the lapband should help this issue in time when I lose weight. HURRY AND GET THE WEIGHT OFF. :) Lol

  13. and it feels okay, I think. Right now I think it is healing and I feel scar tissue which feels like a bump - which before did not feel like a bump, so I hope it did not flip.... It doesnt really hurt, just some uncomfortableness at the site due to healing. Guess I will find out in 2 weeks how it is doing.....

  14. I am two-weeks post op and still only 7.5 pounds - I was at least hoping for 10. I would like to try and lose 20 in four weeks, but doesnt look good.. LOL Heres to wishing though. I think my biggest concern on this whole journey is port flipping. For one I hate needles to begin with, and to think that they will be poking me to access the port and maybe not find it - OMG.. I cant bear the thought, so I keep checking and checking

  15. Hi Lori:

Glad to hear you can have Chicken - must be nice. I am on the mushy stage now... I like eggs with cheese, and I had some pea soup - not bad,and just started mashed potatos - yippee... I guess I should try the refried beans - I think they are mushy, but I must have them with cheese & salsa - otherwise, yuk.. LOL

I think I might incorporate your concept of weighing in every Friday... This obsession with the scale is driving me nuts.

    I'm here to help...

OMG - this is great.. :tt2: Thank you for being there for us.. I read some of your posts and you gave alot of good advise - which I am whole heartedly taking in. In the meantime, I was banded 5/20/2010 and immediately lost 7.5 in 7 days. Today is day 12 and gained back 2 - what is up with that? What am I doing wrong. I am drinking as much Water as I can get down, which is not 64 oz, it is more like 36-48 oz, and staying within 40-60 Protein and getting about 600 calories.. I am not tired, and I am walking about an hour a day.. I did have my TOM, and just finished basically today - so I am hoping this the reason. I dont get my first fill until 6/21/2010 Any suggestions?
  17. Well, off to walk for now.... I dont know about you, but I am still slow at walking, and I still have a little pain at the port site and the scar tissue hurts at the port site.. Let me know if you have some tenderness

  18. I too am back on the protein shakes for now and get to introduce mash potatos this Thursday. We did go for Mexican food last night, and I had some salsa, chicken tortilla soup - basically the broth and then some refried beans - everything seemed to be good and stay down...

Guess I will be looking forward to that first fill of 3cc's

  19. I hear ya... I hope I just finished my period and that some pounds will come off fast. I seem to be at a stand still too - I lost 7.5 in 7 days and now it is 11 days post op and have not lost nothing sense. I am thinking it is my period but also the fact that I too am not getting enough to eat. I started cottage cheese alittle early as I dont think I am suppose to have it until this Thursday - but at this rate, I need something alittle more satisfying than oatmeal and cream of wheat

  20. Anyways, thanks so much for replying and keeping in touch, this is great and really helps alot.. CONGRATS on the 7 lbs. Keep it up, we will soon be lapband models, at least in our minds.....

  21. Try and stay in the 800 range of calories, you will lose faster and eat every 2 hours - alittle something. As far as crackers - try the pepperidge farm style - they are wheat and flavorful, alot of different types. I found them at Targets and bought a hummus spicy dip - oh so yummy, but I cant eat that yet. I get mushy next week, and then the following week, I get crackers, salads, and then the 5th week, I get chicken, steak and then corn chips and salsa - basically anything that I can introduce

  22. Anyways... Congrats on the 11 pounds. Ive been weighing myself daily, and charting, and have lost 7.4 lbs since last Thursday. I just finished the clear liquid diet - oh so yummy (not).. LOL and now on the shakes, smoothes, pudding, oatmeal, cream of wheat and tomato soup. Cant say that I am having more than 500 calories a day. Not too hungry and in the meantime just started that TOM, which will put me down all weekend.. Cant tell if its cramps or the lapband. LOL

  23. Okay, lets see if this works.. I am still learning the process in writing on this.. As far as placing the smurf on there, I am not sure, I some how found a way to edit my information and followed all the links down the side and somehow found away to attach. You just have to play around

  24. Well, keep in touch, gonna try and get some zzz's and hope that the pain meds kick in all night long. LOL

  25. oops, thats right your in Oregon.... I get on the chats to ask questions which seems to help alot. I too met some woman at my 2 day post op, and one of them was on a frappachino and cracker diet, and losing weight - I am like SERIOUSLY? I did not think that was the idea of the lapband - NO EMPTY CALORIES..... But she said that was all she could get down comfortably in a day.... But she was filled to 8cc's.. I dont know about you, but I really dont plan on going past 4cc. I want to lose weight comfortably and still eat what I want with that fuller feeling - if you know what I mean
