  3. Happy 37th Birthday NurseNic!

  4. I also get my Vitamins from unjury. They taste great, and are only one a day. I get the specific one for lap bands. My lab values are all great as well, so I know they are providing what I need. Good luck! Nic
  5. Hello, I was banded on 10/18/2010 and I will admit I had a 10 minute period where I was like "holy moly what did I do to myself?" This was after the gas pain was gone and when I was just feeling yucky. Then I woke up on day 8 and was like "I am back!!!". By day 10 I was cleared and ready to go back to the gym. I think everyone is different but I do think that one day when you wake up, you will feel like your old self and be excited again to live your life with the band. I am on day 11 and I am in love with my band and am having an interesting time learning my new digestion and life as it changes day to day. Nichole
  6. Hey all, I was banded 10-18-2010 and everything went great, minimal pain in left shoulder and gas pain. Able to swallow Clear liquids with no problem. Went home and no issues and on day 4 woke up and had a hard time getting liquids down. I tried all temperatures of liquids but no change. I had an increase in pain around chest and felt lots of pressure especially after swallowing. Went back to surgeon and he actually took out some Fluid (apparently he leaves a "neutral" amount of fluid in the band at insertion.) Instantly I felt so much better. Fluids go down fine now and xray shows band is in correct placement. He stated he had never had this happen before and never had to access a port so soon after placement. It didn't hurt at all and I no longer have any fear of fills (the bonus). Just wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences. Thanks...Nic

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Hey all, Things are even better so far today. I was able to walk off most of my shoulder and gas pain (I must have walked 8 miles last night). Didn't sleep well in the hospital last night (noises) so I can't wait to get home later today. I am feeling just slightly sore on my insicion areas. I have a question. I cannot feel my port. I am swollen and bloated though. Had anyone had this? Will I feel it better soon?
  8. Congratulations, you will do great. I was banded 7 hours ago and the nervousness and fear is the worst part. Good luck!

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Hey all, Sitting here in my room in the hospital, Doc said surgery went great. I don't have any pain at the incision site (yet!) no nausea (fingers crossed) I do have the shoulder pain and gas pain, about a 2 on a 1-10 scale where 10 is the worst. able to drink liquids great. Surgery ended at 3 PM and I got to my room at 4 PM and have walked the halls most of the time since. My tip... walk, walk, walk. It feels great. Lets hope tomorrow is the same or better. If anyone has questions please ask. Nichole

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

I am having my Lap Band surgery tomorrow around noon. I am getting nervous, but mostly excited. Did a ton of "nesting" today. I cleaned the house, made like 5 things of sugar free protein jello, got a new book, and made dinners for the family. Hope I can sleep tonight. I have so much support, but it sure is nice from someone who has gone through this before. Will post tomorrow after the surgery. Wish me luck.

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Hello All... I have been reading all your lovely pearls of wisdom for a few months now but hadn't written anything. I am ready to start offering some of my own soon. I am getting by band on October 18th. I am both excited and anxious. I am having my surgery in the hospital I work at. I am a nurse in the ER and feel like it is both a blessing and a curse to have the medical knowledge I have. I started my pre-op diet officially yesterday, but have been "saying goodbye" to foods for a few months. I am down 47 pounds as of today. Good luck to all who are going to be banded and good job to those who have been. I hope to have somethings to share soon. Nic

I work in one of the hospitals he operates in and his reputation and interactions with patients and staff are amazing. I highly recommend him and he will be doing my surgery in September.
