  1. even when i had optimal restriction and could not eat more than 1/2 a piece of grilled chicken i could still suck down the (insert bad food choice here)... i find chocolate and not so good choices just slide right thru the band. so yeah, i still say its a tool to help me lose...
  2. welcome to LBT Archer! lots of info here... lap band has changed my life for the better... im so much more active now, so much happier, so much healthier, etc... best of luck to you..
  3. i say go with it ASAP too. you should be fully healed by July. good luck and have fun on the cruise
  4. seriously... i feel like a freaking tree trunk... a WIDE tree trunk... my waist still hasnt gone back to normal... if you want to call it a 'waist'... at least pre-PS i had a nice curvy waist ... now... straight up and down ... i know its swelling and will go down, but this is just so frustrating!!! i have all these cute clothes (even pre-PS clothes) that just dont fit well cause my waist is ... gone ... :cursing: Dr. P removed my stiches from my belly button yesterday. attached is a pic of my new bee-bo!!! its pretty cool looking - almond shaped. yes, it's red, i took the pic last night ... still rather numb so i didnt feel 90% of the stitch removal.
  5. OMG ... i have that same track suit outfit from the Avenue... looked about as good on me as it does her ...
  6. congrats! welcome to LBT and to bandland!!
  7. i love Atkins Caramel Latte. if you get it really cold, it tastes like a Starbucks frapp.
  8. i chose lap band because i didnt want to have a Vitamin deficiency my entire life (or my insides rerouted). i have seen many lose weight quickly with bypass, but many put it back on. best of luck to you and your decision.
  9. welcome Melissa, life's gotta be tough raising two boys alone, the extra weight cant help. congrats on getting a consult. i did not use UT Southwestern, but wanted to wish you luck.
  10. i LOVED my PS. Dr. Harlan Pollock in Dallas Texas. he developed a procedure using progressive tension sutures which require NO DRAINS for a TT. highly recommend him. good luck on your journey.
  11. with a panniculectomy, they literally chop off everything either at the belly button or right below. so if you are 'thick' above the belly button you will still have that and it will create a wedge ... if you do a google search on panniculectomy, it will show a picture of a very bad one (and they considered it good...) i know i posted the URL to the pic, maybe in my other plastics thread ???
  12. Steph, so sorry to hear that! that's gotta be disappointing! why is he waiting so long? is he just that booked or what?
  13. the only thing i worried about with a panni is the 'wedge' that may be created ... that scared me ...
  14. i so understand ... or at least have him explain WHY he wants you to lose 20 pounds ...
  15. julie, you dont need your sister's 'approval' for this. sorry she's having a tough time, but that's her issue that she needs to deal with ... dont let it get you down.
  16. bandster hell is no fun ... sorry you gals are having a tough time... just stick with what your surgeon gave you ... up your Protein (shakes if on liquids) this will pass. let those stitches seal your band into place. anchor that band!! you can do it!
  17. yup, it was Harlan... sending you a PM.
  18. steph, tell him just that ... he is working for you and unless it is putting you and your life at risk, i dont see why he wants 20 pounds...
  19. Mary, WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! congrats and welcome to the century club!!
  20. steph, he didnt mention the revision, but i know i will need one if i want it to look 'perfect' ... which at this moment is no big deal, but when i call goal may be... i shouldnt have an apron, but it will be 'skin-ny' ... as in loose skin... angie - your belly button doesnt look bad at all .. you couldnt even see mine!!
  21. TXBecky, not at all... i thought it was really cool! Barbara (probably who answered) is great! she is the billing/admin guru... Kim is the nurse and she's the best! sooooo very patient with my million questions. do you have the consult with Harlan (father) or Todd ?
  22. i took hydrocodone (liquid) for pain, worked like a charm :banghead: i know what you mean about seeing the thighs now ... OH dear!!! not a pretty site. but i will wait til i hit goal to have additional work.
  23. stitch removal wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. my bb is still a bit numb so that was a good thing. they took a few from the sides, but most should just dissolve. i see him again in 2 weeks. said it looks good and swelling is less than last week, i guess that's a good thing ... i asked about walking on the treadmill and i got ... THE LOOK .... he really doesnt want me on the treadmill yet, but i bargained with him, i will go no more than 1.5-2.0 MPH and the slightest twinge of anything i will get off of it... every visit i like Dr. P more and more. the first visit (initial consult) i thought he was a pompous ass ... but liked him for some bizarre reason... today i truly enjoyed his company. **shrug** i dunno what it is... i still think he is very confident in his work, but that's what you want in a plastics guy... sooooooo, i go on the treadmill Saturday morning. i cant believe it will be 2 weeks tomorrow! things have changed so much already... so happy to have the gut gone. i know i have a LONG road still (about 80 pounds after i just lowered my goal) but i will make it!!
  24. oh dear, i just about threw up ....
