Hello! My surgery is tomorrow April 22nd as well. I'm very nervous. Let's keep in touch please and share our experiences. I don't know how I'm going to get any sleep tonight!!!Hello egarduno -- I was banded a week ago today and I feel GREAT!!! AND I am so incredibly happy wiht my decision. My advice to you is WALK, WALK, WALK...you dont have to go fast just one foot in front of the other. It made me feel so much better and just 3 days after surgery I did a 2.5 mile walk for Water through our church. I wasn't the fastest but I felt GREAT!!!

Hello all, I hope you all had a good weekend. Rubie, I hope you are doing better and possibly get to go home soon.I am doing much better, seemed to turn a corner over the weekend. pain is now minimal, it's much easier to eat and when I got on the scale this morning I have lost a total of 20 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. I am now wearing some of my smallest clothes and it feels great but I am wondering what I will do when these clothes don't fit. I have my post op check appointment today and I am a little concerned over my port incision that it is warm to the touch and draining a little bit so I expect to get some antibiotics.
I haven't found a protien power I can stand, have tried the Gladiator powder from Smoothie King, Muscle Milk and nectar Sweets chocolate. They all have such a nasty aftertaste that I gag just thinking about them. Anyone have any recomendations or ideas for disguiseing the aftertaste? I know I haven't been getting enough protien because I am craving scallops, chicken and fish something terrible. Any help will be great!!
kjd612 -- I was banded almost a week ago, and I also have a problem with Protein Drinks and powders until I tried the one directly from the doctors office. It is called Proti and they have a TON of different flavors and even some "meal options" when I am back to chewing and swalloing. I would highly reccommend searching for someone in your area that sells it. It is the ONLY powder that I do not gag on.

I am 5 days post op and found that gas-x chewables were a huge help with shoulder and chest pain/fullness.

Tomorrow is the day! I am so excited and scared at the same time. I know in my heart everything will be OK but there are all these crazy thoughts about "what if" in surgery...Anyone else feel that way?:cool:It is my day tomorrow, too! I am excited not yet nervous. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how you are doing!!
I need to go to bed now as I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 AM.
Will talk to everyone on the banded side tomorrow.
Good night, sleep tight, and I will be praying for everyone at every stage of this incredible journey.

Waynooo -- Welcome back! Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work.
-
Twinserley -- I was also thinking that we have not heard from Waynoo.
I get banded on Wednesday and I am so excited and ready. Although I do not have experience yet I am told that walking helps with the burps/hicups and gas pain.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Froggie D -- Thanks so much for the reply! I also hope my day is as uneventful as yours :smile2:

WOW!! It sounds like everyone is doing so well, CONGRATS!!! I am getting really excited for my surgery next week Wednesday, 4/14!
I have a question for the "Veteran April Bandster Bunnies"...What things should I take with me to the hospital and what things do I need to make sure I have at home for my return? Any input would be GREAT!!
Thanks!!
Good luck to all those who are being banded tomorrow.

I also started my two week pre-op diet this morning. I am determined not to cheat!!! I keep telling my self that today is the first day of my new life. You can do this too!!!

My doctor will not even schedule surgery until you quit and she does blood tests to check. FYI -- It takes 2 weeks to get the nicotine completely out of your system.

Thank you mslady and mamasugar for your reply. The nutritionist gave me the best news ever today...I can eat 2 Protein Bars (their brand) per day along with 3 Protein Drinks. I know it is just 2 bars a day, but anything is better than 5 shakes

Hi everyone!
I am being banded on April 14th. I had a final appointment with my doctor last night and today I meet with the dietician to get all of the pre-op diet insturctions.
The 2 week pre-op and 2 week post-op diet makes me very nervous! I have done both Medifast and Optifast and could not tolerate the Protein shakes. The nutritionist said that they use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and that it tastes good, she gave me a sample and I have been afraid to try it!
Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Medi/Opti fast, and have also used the Unjury? I am hoping that prayer and a good support system, online, at home and at work will get me through the month of April.

Hi Tony,
I was banded on 4/14 and had my post-op appointment with the Dr. yesterday where he gave me permission to eat a few soft foods before my appointment with the nutritionist on Monday. I had cottage cheese for lunch yesterday and thought it was the best thing I have ever eaten, because it was not sweet like all of the pre/post opt Protein drinks and it wasn't chicken broth
Best Wishes on your surgery!!
