  1. Hi there is good and bad, Pretty and ugly in everything. Please try to focus on the good and not the bad. There are so many sucess stories here and there.. My possitive feelings are for you also. At 64 years old, If I can do it you can also. good luck. make lots of friends.
  2. You should be so elated to have this opportunity come back to you. I also put health first. Being 64 years old and having to pay out of pocket I certainly didn't want to waste my money. I wish you al the luck in the world and I am sure this is it for you. I will be anxious to read updates from you. My feelings are if I can do it so can you. Hugs to you and the family. yayayayayay

  5. It looks like we had the band exactly the same day. You might want to check your profile numbers, there is an error there and it makes the bmi over 100. Something is not right. Regarding the situation you have, I feel for you. If it was me. I would start over and get my fills. I do not believe that we have a pouch that is getting stretched out. (that is more of the gastric by pass) Try to not let the bad stuff ruin your life. Go forward. One day at a time. I wish you good luck. Forget the old stuff and begin new again...This is your life. You already have the lapband ~ so why not use it. It is just a tool. Please feel free to contract me at any time. Lizybird@aol.com..I am 90 lbs done. Ilene
  6. I think you are doing great. Everyone has their own time table for losing weight. I think it is usually 2 lbs a week. I lost slower. If you want to make sure you do have sucess. Do not cheat. Just in the program and make it a lifetime change. Before you know it ~~the lost weight will be a thing of the past....10lbs = 1 dress size. best wishes. Ilene
  7. I am 26 years older than you. I lost 90 lbs with the lapband. I can't tell you what to do. But I am hoping that you do something. We are all ready and willing to answer questions and the Dr who will do the surgery will have a support for you. Best wishes.
  8. Wow sounds like you have made several contacts already. Those problems you mentioned about your health are from being over weight. I hope that you do choose the lapband. For me it was a great idea. I know you will do great.
  9. I belong to several groups. I wrote out a question like this and I got several different answers. Some said their doc said ok. some said no nsaids. I wear a medical alert bracelet saying no nsaids. However, if I need one I take it. Sometimes I take the liquid. I am sure that there will be several resonses to this fabulous question. Best of luck..How does tylenol work for you?
  10. I love all the answers you got. I also am in my 60's. I just turned 64, I have the band since 2/2/10. so it is about 2 years 4 months. In 15 months I lost 89 lbs. I lost weight slowly, compared to others who had the surgery the same time. I think if you do not follow the rules, eat too much, eat too fast you might throw up all the time. But I would rather have lapband than gastric bypass. I have lots of pals who had gastric by pass and they gained 1/2 of their weight back if not more. For the amount of weight that yoiu want to lose. Lapband will be great. Friend me. Ilene
  11. I tend to scold at times. But I really mean well. If I didn't take myself seriously. I would never have lost my 89 lb in 15 months cause I am older and lose very slowly. I have been very strict with my program and very proud to say it. During the last 12 days. I have been in London, France, Switzerland and finally in Italy. I gave myself 5 things that I could do ((things that I told myself not to do at the very beginning of the band))))) They were: 1, I had tastes of wine and champane, 2. I ate gellato 3x , 3. I had Pasta, 4. I had some "little crackers" 5. I had a bit of rizotto. I lost 2 lbs. Yay for me. I am so happy with my choices and thats all that counts...
  12. Again I ask: Why would someone have the lapband surgery and then eat crap? I thought we had this surgery to help us to lose weight? If anyone wants to eat big mac, I do not care.. I know that I don't want to. I like to follow the rules. That is my choice....Hugs.
  13. The reason for the band is to create restriction for the food intake. Since we are supposed to have 1/2 -1 cup at a meal. Protein first, veggies 2nd and carbs 3rd. The drink would Water down the food and it will pass right throu the openning. Usually, when there is enough restriction a person could eat about 2 bites or teaspoons of food and be full. (that is me) The food slowly disolves and goes throu the little opening. Then it goes into the real stomach. When the food is eaten, it is VERY IMPORTANT to chew your food. Like pulverize it. No question is stupid. I do recomend you going on Lapband.com. You might want to buy a book or borrow one from the library. I am sure the Dr has a little talk about lapband. YOU will not be going into this blind..I am sure. Best of luck. no soda no soda no soda. NO white flour foods either.
  14. 1. How many times do you have to get a fill? FOR ME IT WAS ABOUT 5 2. Does anyone get side effects like Nausea etc? FOR ME NO 3. How long does the approval take? DEPENDS ON YOUR INSURANCE. I WAS SELF PAY 4. How long is the procedure itself? I WENT IN ABOUT 10 AND I WAS GOING HOME BY 2. SURGERY TAKES ABOUT 40 MIN 5. Is this outpatient procedure? Or in patient? MOSTLY OUT PATIENT 6. Do you have to prove you have sleep disorder? IF YOU HAVE ONE YOUR DOC HAS IT IN THE FILES 7. Do most insurances approve the operation? MOST? SOME YES e operation is done - do you have follow a strict diet? Like shakes? if so what kind? YOU HAVE TO EAT SLOW, CHEW YOUR food. STOP ALL SODA. GET RID OF BREAD AND ALL WHITE FLOUR ITEMS. SAY BYE BYE TO YOUR Cookies, CAKES, PIES. JUNK JUNK JUNK... YOU H AVE TO DRINK ABOUT 6-8 GLASSES A DAY. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF Protein PER DAY..I WATCH MY CARBS. YOU DO NOT DRINK WHEN U EAT. THE RECOMEND THAT YOU EXERCISE AND WALK. I DO 2 SHAKES A DAY. DOES YOUR INSURANCE OFFER BARIATRIC COVERAGE?
  15. At 61 I also lost very slowly. But in 15 months I lost 89 lbs. I made it when it was time to make it. Have patience learn lessons. learn rules. What is your other choice? Keep going it will happen.
  16. Grandma: You just had the surgery last month. You are doing great..God gives us 1 day at a time. Give your body 1 day at time. Relax, learn the rules because the lapband is in your body for the rest of your life. (if you want it to) I am sure once you reach your goal (and you will in time) You do not want to gain it back ie: yo yo effect. This is it. For myself the last 10 lbs were hard to loose and I realized that if I want to maintain which I have for 1 year. I am to be on it for the rest of my life. I am commited to do so. Keep up all the good work that you are doing. And sometimes our goal in our head is not the same goal as the body wants to have.
  17. Amazing how each Doctor has different rules. i would amagine that what ever work for us shoud be what we stay with.
  18. i went from size 10 ring to size 8. I had to get ring guards until it stayed the right size. My undies were size 10 now size 7. iI think I'm where I am going to stay. These are great Nsv...Non Scale Vistories. Have you all been able to tie your shoeslaces ? And are you able to pick up things that you could not p/u in the past. Horay
  19. i sleep like crap all night up at 4:30-6:00 i am sleep deprived. ugh
  20. Thanks for sending the site to me. That was so nice. I think the products are also similar to Lindora.com and Bariatric choice. I used to shop at Lidora but I get disounts at Bariatric choice. Thanks again so much.
  21. Omg Allison you have done great... I check the chips. They also have other things which are similar to Bariatric Choice.com. I would like to try them but they only want to sell to distributors..Which I am not. wish I could be.
  22. How many carbs do you have each day? Carbs do not help you lose weight. Carbs make you crave more carbs...The carbs that are good are veggies and fruits mainly. Protein helps you lose weight. Protein keeps you full. To lose weight up protein, lower the carbs. I have not gone on the website yet. But I will~ I only want the best of all of us.
  23. Bananas will bind you up...Bad choice. Constipation is the worst thing to happen. And it might.. Becarefull everyone.
  24. i hear you about the protien chips. But what about the carbs.??
