  1. You are doing fantastic, just a few lbs and you will be in onederland. What a great thing to look forward to. And you will see it very soon. Try to read up on what foods are night in carbs and try to avoid or eat much less of them. You might even want to purchase a book that lists carbs in foods and Protein in food. And most likely your family Dr has one right in his office. He gets them from the drug reps for his Diabetes patients. They really have to watch their carbs. Carbs turn into sugar, carbs make us look for. Ore carbs. Like a drug. I know you will do fine'. Happy holidays.
  2. I was just reading some other posts. I want to tell all of you that Cheryl is very educated on the Lapband. Her Dr is not only an excellent surgeon, he provides fantastic support. While I didn't have him as a Dr. I did go to one of the support groups. I wasn't lucky enough to have a job, let alone insurance to pay for the surgery, I was cash only. My dr was a good surgeon, but his follow up and support was almost nil. I was forced to learn on my own. I read a lot and joined groups. I hope that it was ok for me to write this Cheryl. Perhaps we can meet in person some day. Cindy's mom. Ilene.
  3. I used to drink a lot and smoked when I weighed 256 lbs. I don't drink any alcohol at all now or smoke anymore. At 65 years old, I feel that for me it's better not to have any booze or smoke in my body. I have never had a drinking problem, I just was socialable and men were buying the drinks all the time. My husband does not drink or smoke and never did. He came from a religious home, while my parents and family smoked. And had wine at the Jewish holidays and wedding. I think we liked it when others paid for it. Lol lol lol . Have a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Years. Be safe.
  4. Holy cow Cheryl we are just about neighbors. I live in Tamarac. Howdy neighbor,
  5. Oh thanks for your response, that is a interesting thought. I like the word lose there. I am gonna test the waters again. Does anyone recall an old tv program with Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda? It seems that Rhoda was upset and was at Mary's. Sweet Mary offered her some cottage cheese. That Rhoda gave her some look. I guess she wanted chocolate. Regarding our cravings, have we ever craved cottage cheese, broccoli, carrots, lettuce ? It's the carbs we mostly crave. carbs are just like a drug. What are your thoughts on this? Friends?
  6. Ok its me again. Today, I didn't have any food that has carbs. I call them no no foods. It is 7:30 and I am still full. I am not looking for food at all. I also weighed myself and from the morning until now I am up about 6 ounces. And I am fully dressed. I read somewhere that if we do lots of carbs for the day. The scale at the end of the day will be quite high. So today it proved to me that it is true. Would any one want to have a one thing resolution list? I think we would see that we are all the same..
  7. Oh I saw those buggers on the bad food. And I found some food ants there too. I need a good laugh any time I can get it
  8. How about if we all put our heads together and creat a plan of action. . There is always someone who says something to inspire some one else.
  9. Omg, this is getting exciting here. After almost 4 years with the band, I need support. I don't like my feeling of needing at all. But I am a human too. I have really good excuses, changes of meds, not exercising because of a lot of leg surgeries . Feeling down a lot cause the scale isn't my pal as it was before. Lack of support, let down from a band group set up by me and my friend. A cold for 5 weeks. Oh yes blah, blah, blah, But did I neglect to tell you that, while making Cookies for friends, I licked my fingers? I found some chocolate walking into my mouth. I bought some expensive cheese and ate crackers with it? Have been doing carbs and seeing how they really are not my friends. I see myself looking around the house searching for more carbs. I even think that I know it's wrong and I do it anyway. I am in trouble here. My smaller clothes still fit but I have gained about 15 lbs. I am in trouble because I have no support system, ( that's how I feel right now) I never really had a supportive Dr. Or a Dr's office staff that helped. I had to do this all by myself. My wonderful husband was the only support system I had. I think he gave up, he also is 4 years older and has some health issues to work through. Oh, he just said that he didn't give up on me. Merry Christmas to me. So after all that talking, I want to to admit here I am. I am a person who does a lot of research, I belong to many groups. I am best friends with a gal from London who lost a lot of weight with the lapband, and we are going to get our excess weight off. First thing I am going to do is always start my good choices in the morning because by the afternoon, I have really set the stage for failure. I am going to make room for me to exercise on my Gazzele, and no more stupid EXCUSES. and all that chocolate that I keep in this fancy box will stay there. And those Biscottis that I take to the bedroom by 4 at a time to shovel in my mouth will stay there too in the nice cookie jar. I am going to really watch my amounts of food that I put on my plate. DARN IT ALL, I KNOW BETTER. Don't I ? I AM GOING TO END THIS. I DO WANT TO LET YOU KNOW HOW PROUD I WAS TO BE IN THE "" LAPBAND TALK BOOK "" THAT WAS WRITTEN BY OUR ALEX. I was Ilene from Fla and Ny. I hope that all of you have it in your home. It was well written. So finally, who is with me? Who is for me? Who is FOR THEMSELVES.? Let's all talk about what we are going to do about it, let's give ourselves a special Christmas gift that only we can do for ourselves.....hugs and love. Ilene.
  10. Congrats to both Lu Lu and froot loop. Take it easy. Both of you. Hugs Ilene
  11. We are here for you. Like begets like. You are doing fantastic. You are not gaining weight are you.? I know just how you feel , even after almost 4 years. I eat very very little. I am so used to it. That's why quality is more important than quantity.. Crapy food in your mouth is just wasted time and calories, you wouldn't put bad gas in your car would you.? Or in your dog or cat. And if you have been reading the post, you know how I feel about alcohol. Keep up ALL the positive things in your life. Hugs
  12. Good luck. Stay as calm as you can. You will do fine. Think of the smaller size clothes you will wear, even sexy panties,,,hugs
  13. I wish all of you a Merry Xmas. I guess I am an old fuddy duddy. After 4 years I hardly ever think of food or drink. I just eat what I think I should which is tried and true. Same for the drinks. Hugs. Oh, New Year too. I suggest that you all buy yourself the wonderful book written by the creator of Lapband talk.com. That was the name before it became Bariatric pal, It was written by our ALEX. I am the Ilene in the book and there are 11 pages of my answers to the questions. While I do not have all the answers, I feel that I have succeeded in my journey. Hugs again!
  14. Email me at lizybird@aol.com
  15. I would imagine that you will do exactly what you want to do. I know for me that following the rules helped me lose my weight.
  16. I don't drink alcohol, empty calories.
  17. Holy cow, every one has given you great advise. Don't make your life more confused. You will do great. Don't worry.
  18. Terry is very gentle, heed her words. The reason that gastric bypass people gain the weight back is that they don't learn their lessons. This is called the honeymoon phase. I think you should go and re read your lesson. The lapband is only a tool. I bet your grandparents used a dime when they didn't have their screwdriver. That was a tool also. Drink your water like you used to. Hugs
  19. Just to give you an idea where I am: I am kind of down the street from University hospital. We can walk there in 15 min, just in case you are coming. Having my hair done at 9:00. Tonails done and finger nails not. Will maybe wear a new dress.
  20. Thanks for letting know. Lol. I am going to be interviewed on wed. About me and the surgery. Yep, I am very scared, and nervous. But I know my rules. I am a leader in a lapband surgery group in sparkepeople.com. I am like their mother. They call me momma grok. Lol the weather here is nice and it is warm. Do u ever go to ft Lauderdale? Hope to meet you someday. We live in Tamarac, take care. I have some reviewing to go thru, and what to wear??
  21. I mad a boo boo, the email I sent to Lu Lu was for gowalking. I hope she read it.
  22. My dear lulu. I am so surprised that no one pounded me for telling you no no no for those things. Regarding pizza, it has crust that usually is thick and with the band it is very hard to chew up so it will fit thru the opening. Most likely lapbanders are still eating pizza with sauce and yummy cheese . I think sauce and cheese is fabulous. , the pizza crust is a so sticky being made from white flour. There are so many new ideas to having pizza, even using cauliflour for a crust is possible. Substitutions for lapbanders is really no different than for weight watcher. And Miss Lulu, once you have the lapband. And see how not only fantastic you look. You won't even want any of that fattening stuff. I am not a young girl like you are, I needed to make the time I had to better myself. That was why I was so strict, and I am happy that I was, You are such an open person. I know you will do fantastic. Hugs Ilene.
  23. Waiting for your email lol lol lol hugs
  24. Welcome lulu. I am originally from Ny but live in Ft Lauderdale. In February I will have my lapband 4 years and have lost 96 lbs in 15 months. I am quite direct, and would like to comment on the foods that you removed from fridge, Mainly coke, pizza, they will not be good for you after the banding. This is what my Dr told me: no: potatoes, rice, bread, pizza, pasta, soda, cookies, cakes, pies, I have not had them for 4 years. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in. But, I personally feel that with out these very high carbs you will do better than if you eat them. Also, I found that "premier protein" shakes are my favorite. Our training was low carb, high protein. Carbs turn to sugar, sugar makes us fat, and makes us look for more carbs to eat. Protein helps us stay fuller, we need about 1/2 our weight in protein per day. YOU WILL DO FINE, ANY TIME YOU WANT MORE HELP JUST HOLLER. Ilene
  25. You look great, keep up all the good work, never go back,
