  3. Thank you for reading my post, I know it was long. I have four sons and one step-daughter. You are right, my sons and brothers are scared about the surgery, they don't want to loosee me over a procedure for weight loss. My step-daughter understands because she wanted to do the procedure too but was denied. Her insurance is different than mine. I truly thank you for your encouraging words. I want to stop being a slave to food. Eating from boredom, lonliness, sadness & happiness as well. The lapband is my stop button to Staples that was easy button. I will pray every night for the wisdom I need to complete the process. Talk to you soon.

WARNING!- I Was a LapBand "Orphan"

Gosh your story is our story and it makes this new journey of mine easier to make. Thank you. I hope I find myself within the next year because I miss her. I'm very happy you found you again.
  5. Elfiepoo, What was the misshappen?
  6. Hello everyone: I am 58 and have five children all grown. I was a skinny gal for my first 44 years of my life, even after kids (give or take ten pounds or twenty). However, I am only 4'10" and I could get away with being 120 but not 190. I simply look awful and feel awful. I used to be active in sports but now I have a bad knee, sleep apnea, one kidney, no gall bladder. I'm a mess. I've been working full time for the last 30 years and keep gaining and gaining. My husband does not desire me at all. He once had a cute, skinny, vibrate, athletic wife to this rolly polly woman who works, cleans and watches T.V. I am so depressed about it I am now on anti-depressants. Anyway, I'm in the dietician phase for six months. March will be my fifth month and I'll probably start the weight loss part in April. I am so happy I found this site. My kids don't want me to get the LAP-BAND® my brothers don't and hubby says it's just another weight loss gimmic and this one could take my life and my kitty doesn't care one way or another, LOL! I have read the negative parts of LAP-BAND® on this site too and have received answers that have helped. I think the real scare is that disgusting barium you have drink before for test and then I heard you drink it after surgery to double check if the band and port are placed correctly. I'm going to see my doctor in a couple of weeks for updates on how the dietician process is going and ask questions I might have. My goal date is mid May 2010, I hope the tests go well and everything else. Glad to be here. I'll keep you posted on my 2010 journey to the LAP-BAND® world. Hooray, I belong to a group of people who understand. ezzie 5
  7. I think you have a great idea. I am new also. I have a story but it is 1:38 in the a.m. and I'm tired so I'll write tomorrow, But count me in following a 2010 thread. ezzie5
  8. Hello everyone. WOW. I read four pages of your posts and all the horrible problems all of you have had with your port/band. I am a newbie and I have been so excited about this webiste. I have been reading posts every night after work for two weeks. Everyone's input is helping me and reassuring me about getting banded BUT now I'm not sure anymore. I was so excited that I finally could find a 'stop button" for my excessive eating. I feel I just don't have an off switch and the band was going to do just what I needed, help me stop. BUT with all the negative experiences, i.e., leakages, tubing coming apart, erosions, pricking until you can hardly bare it, incompetent doctors, incompetent NP, and heartless insurance companies - I am now not sure if banding is worth it. I will continue to read all posts good and bad and by May 2010 I hope I will know exactly whether I'll be a bandgirl or back to weight watchers. Thanks for everyone's honesty, and I truly hope and pray that you all get better and meet your goals. ezzie5
  9. If the doctor said it wasn't normal, then what did he suggest?
  10. I too am a newbie and will take your suggestions to try different protein drinks before surgery. What no one is answering is what does the band feel like and the port feel like after surgery after a month, two months. Can you feel them, are they noticable to unsuspecting people?

    Ughhhh I SUCK!!!

It sounds as though you've actually been doing well. Your surgery was just a month ago and you lost 27 pounds. Awesome! I'm a newbie and hope to be banded early May. How did you surgery go? Do you feel the band, the port?
  12. Congrats on your 20 lbs. Yes, I am considering the lapband. I'm going to the dietician right now. I hear more horror stories than positive stories. What has it been like this last month since your band? Throwing up, hearburn, etc. Please let me know. Thank you.

  13. Ezzie, I saw your post on my blog asking about my banding. I actually just got banded on 1/27/10, so I'm only a month out. Things are going great so far. I have lost right around 20 lbs and my first fill is on Friday. Sounds like you are considering the band? Good luck on your journey. You will find TONS of good information & support on this site.

Getting back on track after the blizzard.

I read you had your LAP-BAND® surgery in 2009. How is your progress? I"m still in the seeing the dietician mode. This site is very helpful for my peace of mind.
  15. That doesn't seem right?! Does your doctor know of the problem with the port? I haven't gone for my surgery yet and I'm wondering if this a common problem with bandsters?
