I am so happy that after 2 weeks I am really doing well. I'm back to excersing, still on liquids for 1 week but over all feeling physically well. My scars are healing really well and I see my surgeon Monday and am really excited. The hardest part is the first 6 weeks just making it through the liquid/puree phase but still looking forward to my first fill, hopefully before New Years Day. After reading a lot on the forums I think still the only thing that makes me uneasy is the thought of trigger foods and temptations. I see its a issue for a lot. Just gotta keep moving forward, this is going to be a good journey!
  2. When I originally saw the dietician, before surgery she said people who stick with seeing a Dietician for more then one or two visits are more sucessful. She suggested seeing her at 3/6/9/12 month intervals. How many have done that or even gone back again after surgery. I was thinking it may be a good idea, so this person can help keep you on track or have someone outside of the 'family' to be accountable to. Thanks!
  3. I use Wii Fit and Wii Active. Out of the two I feel I get more cardio from Wii Active (the 1st version). The New Wii Active coming out looks like a blast too!
  4. I was banded on the 18th, no fill yet. Should be in the next 3 weeks according to my Dr., I see him for the first time tomorrow.
  5. The WLS liason at the hospital told me that too, the day of surgery. I thought it was interesting cause I wouldn't have even thought of that. I like knowing the lil' things like that, no surprises
  6. I'm 2 weeks PostOp and I was more anxious then nervous, I just wanted to be on the other side of the fence My mom was more nervous then I was. Though I woke up that morning at 4:30a cause I couldn't sleep... Good Luck on your Special Day
  7. I have UHC, but I did have the weight history. I found they are pretty easy to get approved for. BUT not sure how they would bend on the 5yrs. I would talk to them regarding you not having the full 5yrs and see what they say. Also if you go to their site (www.myuhc.com) or just call them they will tell you if the surgeon you are looking at is in Network.
  8. I'm not sure what all liquids you are having, but I was adding a protein powder to my drinks. You can buy unflavored so you can add it to anything. Having more protein will help keep the hunger away.
  9. My surgery was on the 18th, the gas is starting to let up. I do feel the pain in my left shoulder, but from past experience that is if my tummy is full. Someone did suggest somewhere on here to do windmills with your arms while walking around. The worst part was feeling like you have to burp but nothing would come out. I was so happy the other night I just got up the right way and was able to have my first burp. Lots of people suggest walking, and my feeling is do everything you can to get it out. Good luck!
  10. The waiting goes by faster then you'll imagine. It took me a lil under 2 months from the time of the seminar to actual surgery. Then after surgery I was like "wow, that went by so fast". Enjoy!

  12. Going to my brothers with my hubby and parents. I'm still on the liquids stage so made a yummy potato soup (found the recipe here I think). At this point, not really caring about not eating the other stuff. Just want to get through my first 6 weeks Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
  13. Have you called your doc? I've only been banded a week and haven't had any of those issues.
  14. Must agree, had my surgery on the 18th. My 'pain' was from gas not from the surgery itself. Gasx was a life saver. I took my pain meds for the 1st couple days, but only 1/2 doses cause the pain I was in was just gas. I haven't chewed anything in a week, on 3 weeks liquids and 3 weeks puree, so I won't be chewing until closer to January Its been worth it, everyday the gas gets less and less. Hang in there, I'm sure it gets easier but remember it just a tool, we gotta use it well.
  15. Probably everywhere is different but at my eval, I had to do like 2 hours of fill in the dot tests! (annoying ), talked to the Doc like 10 minutes max, he asked me a few questions, nothing unexpected i.e. status, why I wanted the band, weight history, diet history... not much really and that was about all for him.
  16. Congratz... I was done the day before you and feel great. Glad you are doing so well!
  17. Thank you Thank you Dr. Anderson, my surgery was November 18th at St. Al's and this being my first surgery of any kind, I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. I appreciate the explanations of everything that would happen before and after surgery. I am thankful for all the pre-OP testing I did, even though I haven't had that many Dr. appointments in my entire life in ONE month. But it was all worth it. 5 days postOP and I feel really great. THANK YOU THANK YOU again
  18. I've seen a few researchers saying that if you are eating less then 1000 calories a day you have a harder time losing weight, sometimes even gaining. I believe your body is telling you to 'feed me'
  19. I'm in at 7:45am tomorrow! woohoo... can hardly wait :blushing:
  20. Not sure if you have Vitamin Shoppe where you are, but I have been buying "Carlson's" brand of liquid Omega-3, its lemon flavored. I do not like taking it alone but have been mixing in a berry flavored yogurt and its not bad.
  21. Hey all.... ONE MORE DAY!! Banding on November 18th,,,I'm so excited I can hardly stand it...
  22. I know that we are all different when it comes to shapes, sizes, bone structure etc. BUT I was wondering what your starting weight was and what you had in mind for a goal weight. I'm 5'3, 247lbs (was 267lbs, had to lose to qualify for surgery) and my goal is to get down to 127lbs. I've seen, randomly here some other goal weights. Just curious!

Dear Me, Are you ready? Soon you are going to be making a change. Soon you are going to have surgery! Are you ok? Love, Me OMG!!! I am so excited, I probably should be a little nervous, I mean after all I am CHOOSING to have surgery. But years of trying different diets, programs and pills, this is it. My mind is so wrapped around making this a success. Granted I'm PreOP as of today and at PostOP have 6 weeks of liquid/puree, I feel I am in the right place in my life and mind. I have filled my tool belt so when my surgery is complete I will have ALL the tools I need. My family is behind me 100%, my husband is totally excited for me becaue he knows of all the sadness being overweight has brought me. He's excited too, because he's going to be eating better and losing along with me. I'm not one to think about the future or worry about it but I am thinking about it now, and what its going to mean for me. It all feels so right! :bored:
  24. Today is your day!~ Hoping you are doing well.. <3 Mine is on Thursday.... I haven't been this excited about something since I was a kid at Christmas...lol
  25. Mine is the 18th. Not feeling nervous more anxious.... I just wanna be on the other side of the band
