  1. I am doing good. still craving food. but that doesn't surprise me. Over ate during the holidays. trying to get back into it. still losing weight. I haven't noticed any restriction with my first fill. going back at the end of the month.. hang in there everyone... This has to work
  2. anyway the fill was easy. I laid down with a pillow in the small of my back. she found the port. put alcohol or something on it. gave me a little deading on the skin. then inserted the needle. I didn't feel the needle at all. and it was done. poof.. I don't know about restriction. stayed on fluid yesterday and mushie's today. but I don't think so on the first one. put in 1 cc in a 10 cc band. but it is the start on the road to restriction. I like it slower actually. then I can work up to it. happy new year to you.. hope you are successful in all you do..
  3. Hello everyone. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I had a hard time eating. toooo much tooooo often. anyway I got my first fill today. so I am ready to start again... HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU
  4. also how do I get rid of the extra space at the bottom of my reply?
  5. Congradulations Wheetsin and Denise... I am so impressed and feeling that I can do it too.. At my daughter's wedding in August I too had a marshmellow face.. When ever I see her video I remember why I did this. Down 42 and feeling better about myself and my face. but the question I have is when you start at 320 pounds does the double chin ever go away. especially when you are 56 and can't remember what elasticity is?? Also the pannus? does it shrink up or just look like in the movie Click?
  6. glad you are doing so well. yes, I was hungry after I got over feeling sick from the surgery. I had chest pains too. They say it is the air they put in your abdomen to do the surgery. some people get it in the shoulder and others the chest. I don't think you can stretch out the pouch with just liquids. actually I think everything goes down, nothing stays in the little pouch. at this time don't try to diet too much.. go ahead and drink your liquids when you are hungry.. (within limits) when you get on mushies my dr told me to eat 2/3 of a cup 3 times a day... but the nutritionist told me to eat 3/4 to 1 cup. and some snacks.. I just kept track of calories and didn't go over 1,000 for a few weeks until I healed properly. but while on liquid I drank all I wanted .. not going over 1,000 calories.. You would be surprised how much you can drink. anyway we all have to do what we feel is right for us. the other ladies will probably tell you something different. also are you in the November banders group. It was really nice to hear what people who had just been through it or going through it did. Hang in there.. the pain goes away and before you know it you will be eating normal again..
  7. good luck dawnae... I sure you will come through with flying colors. What ever that means... Let us know when you can. I was so big on getting Protein drinks that I spent money at some online place and when I got it I realized that I hated it.. . I got Isopure and at GNC and it was ok but not something I loved. Benefiber is great. I use it all the time mixed in just about everything. no taste. my advice is not to spend too much on protein stuff. try a few but really when you are on real food. just eat protein first. if you like the taste of the protein then use it, but like the nectar stuff. it is not for me. I got someprotein pudding again.. the taste. it gags me. They do have protein supplements you can mix in your own food (later) powder stuff you can put in smoothies, oatmeal etc. as far as liquid stage. I lived on broth. it was warm . felt good going down and has protein. tried gator aide and threw up. first day home.. not a good idea. I also drank apple juice and Water. I tried isopure after a week. Just relax and get recooperated. More about mushies later...
  8. I haven't had a fill yet. The doc said I was doing ok without it. but I noticed that I am loosing control. Like I went to a conference today and ate a frosted sugar cookie. Came home and made honey BBQ wings, (frozen in a bag) then I ate mashed potatoes with roast beef. Really, I feel like I am loosing it. I don't have an appointment for 2 weeks. So I will try to hold on until then.. I DON'T HAVE TO GIVE IN TO THIS DO I? Sorry for the downer... Sandy
  9. I have looked and looked here in utah and I can't find jello pudding that is fat free and sugar free. Must be a test in certain areas. darn.. I will keep looking... Haven't checked wallmart.. hope all is well with everyone.
  10. I too would like to wish you all a happy thanksgiving (weekend) I spent the last two days up in Powder Mountain above Ogden. My daughter and her family have a condo. We had a good time just doing nothing. My son from Calif came. Food---not to good. haven't weighed since I got back. I ate alittle bit of everything. about 1/4 cup of each thing. But all I can say is that it was ok. I didn't eat half as much as last year so that is progress. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend..
  11. thanks... best wishes to you.
  12. I was alot like JDru. I took lortab for about a week. Went back to work after a week but tired for about 2. I also had a terrible pain in my abdomen. couldn't straighten out. That only lasted about 3 days. My friend who had this done wanted to go back to work the next day...crap shoot....Good luck to you..
  13. hello, what brand are you yummy sounding puddings?? I have chocolate instant breakfast heating up like hot chocolate for breakfast and drink it on the way to work.. For lunch, I eat leftovers from the night before or egg salad without the bread, or yogurt... For dinner I eat about a cup of whatever I feed my family. Stew, homemade chicken Soup, chicken from costco with veggies. I wonder if I need to eat more.. sometimes I have a snack before I go to bed.. (bad time to eat) but I tell myself it makes my metabolism work during the night..???? I really like to hear what other people have.. I too have a problem with Water and it manifests itself when I have to go to the bathroom.. ow..
  14. MYPOV-:welcome: Dr. Hansen is great. You will see him just before surgery and remember to write everything down. I always say I need to write down my questions and then I forget and leave without asking everything.. Where do you live in Utah. I am from Orem. If you want unoffical answers let us know.
  15. I live in Orem. My kids went to Orem, HS> Tell us about yourself Ruthie. Hope everyone is doing well. Would anyone be interested in posting what they eat. sometimes I feel like I am doing the same thing all the time breakfast- instant Breakfast lunch - mashed potatoes gravy turkey dinner- raw veggies and beef stew.. not enough Water....
  16. Hello sweethot. Good luck with your banding. It is coming up soon. Are you excited? Are you in Germany? I didn't get filled. They decided that I was losing on my own now and the band was there when I need a tool to help. so for a little longer I will be superwoman.
  17. Welcome Dawnae you are in for a ride. congradulations. We are here to support you and it would be a good idea to get into a Dec strand. Everyone will be going through the same things together. I usually check in nightly at least everyother night If you have any questions. I too am looking forward to new clothes..
  18. Teresita, wonderful loss. Congradulations... Hi everyone. I went in for my first fill today and since I have lost 33 pounds in 7 weeks they didn't give it to me. They said, the band is a tool and obviously I don't need it yet. Next visit in 4 weeks. Can't say I mind, especially when I hear about people throwing up, and getting things stuck.
  19. Congradulations.. you guys really help me out... sometimes it is hard to see the light at the end of tunnel..... tonight I can see it...
  20. Thanks Wheetsin I needed to hear that. Sometimes I feel alone in this ordeal. Now it is an ordeal hopefully later it will be the best thing I have every done. Thanks for taking the time to write.
  21. hi JDru and Auntie Aud It is nice to hear from you. I was banded on Sept 25. So I guess it has been 6 weeks. I am going to get my first fill next Wed. 11/15. How are you two surviving? Still on Mushie stage I guess. I have been eating real food for a couple of weeks now. I live in Orem and teach school in Pleasant Grove. You?
  22. I weighed 320 pounds when I had my surgery. My doc didn't have me loose before banding so I started at 320. I have lost 30 pounds but I would like to comment on what lifelongband said. It is self control. and I have a hard time with it. somedays I do really good and others I cheat. I haven't been filled yet and I wondered if since I was looseing maybe they wouldn't fill me. But after eating way too much yesterday and gaining back 2 pounds. I think one of the plus things about a fill is that you can't eat so much even if you want to. I guess old habits are hard to change. Is there a point in this journey when you feel not so wanting food. also those who have been doing this for a long time please give me an idea of what you eat and how much you exercise.. I would really appreciate it.
  23. I congratulate you on your weight loss. Who would of thought of the problems you are having. I hope someone in Florida can help you. Maybe you could call around to hospitals and surgical centers and see if lapband surgery is done at their facility. then find out who the doctor is. Easier than calling every surgeon in the phone book. Or maybe the florida medical association that is over doc could refer you to a good (ok i don't know how to spell this) bariacteric doc. that is definitely not right. You know doctors who work with over weight (wasn't that nice) people. You really need a doc who is close by to encourage and follow through. You and your wife deserve only good blessings, best of luck to you..
  24. thanks for this thread. I have been having problems , eating and emotion and it really helped me to read this.. The amazing thing to me has always been that throwing up, not eating at all are eating disorders. Why can't those who overeat themselves in poor health get help from insurance .. I have always said that after I over eat I should throw up (and I have had my bulemic times) then I could get help... this eating thing is so complex like any addiction..
  25. Hi my name is Sandy I was banded on 9/25/06. I was wondering...my stomach or just abdominal cavity hurts. I haven't started solids yet, (actually tomorrow) and I feel nauseus (sp) in the afternoon and evenings. after 4 weeks am I supposed to feel normal? Does anyone else have the same problems? mostly the ache is around my stomach area. am I eating too little, too much (dont think so) the pain isn't strong just continual ache. also next question: what do you suggest for first solid. My dietitian said to add one new solid a day..... where do I start? I just read back on about 5-6 pages of your posts.. I think I belong here. I started at 320.... honestly, I can't beleive I got that high....... thanks for any advice. :nervous
