  1. I understand how you feel. I had my first fill on March 8th and have been up and down the same two lbs for 2 weeks. Frustrating.... I go for another fill on 4/7. Hoping I lose at least 2 lbs before the fill.
  2. Tish - Sorry to hear your friend had so much trouble at Dr. McEwen's office. I believe they have had a lot of turnover with their staff over the past couple of years. My daughter was banded by him 2 years ago and she had some problems with making appointments, but nothing to bad. She was also a self-pay. I am happy so far with the support I've received from their staff. Maybe they've finally gotten it together. Good Luck in the future!
  3. My daughter had her lapband surgery 2 years ago and lost 85 lbs. Over the next year, she got married, went on her honeymoon and settled into her new life and gradually gained back 27 lbs. When she went to the doc with me for my initial visit (2 months ago), she got a fill and has since lost 17 lbs. She's back closer to her goal weight. The doctor told her that those who come in on a regular basis tend to keep their weight loss on track. Go back to your doctor and have regular checkups. I think this keeps you accountable and more proactive. Good luck!
  4. I have loved my band from the beginning. I love the way I feel because I can no longer "over-eat" and have that stuffed feeling. I physically feel much better. Sometime, I would like to eat some bad stuff, but after a few bites I don't want anymore. So, overall this new tool is working with me and for me! Love It!
  5. Congratulations on taking back your life! Keep up the good work!
  6. I voted for you Dawn! Good Luck! Hope you win your life back!
  7. Tish - I see you're from Noblesville. I had my surgery there. Can I ask who you doctor is? I went to Dr. McEwen. He only adds 1cc ea month. So far I've only had 1 fill and go back next month for a 2nd. I feel a little restriction, but haven't really lost much weight since the fill.
  8. Just hang in there and push through it. I went through the same thing before I could start eating regular foods again. It's worth the wait.
  9. What a great accomplishment so far! Congratulation on the 100 lb mark! Hang in there, I'm sure you've hit plateau's along the way. Just keep doing what you've been doing. GOOD LUCK!
  10. I am very lucky to have a husband who supported my decision to have lap-band. Before we were married, I tried to get approved by my insurance, but was denied. After we were married, I went on his insurance and was approved right away. He has been by my side every step of the way and has been very supportative! What a wonderful man!
  11. I think I need to get away from the scales. I weigh myself every day and get depressed because I'm not losing like I should. I have gone 2 weeks and bounce up and down 2-4 lbs. Jen - I like your idea of measuring. I haven't measured myself at all yet. Maybe I'll do that tonight. Good luck everyone!
  12. Congratulations! What an accomplishment!!! Can't wait to join that special group!
  13. Your stomach is probably still a little bloated from the surgery. It took me a couple of weeks before I felt mine, now I easily find it. Sometimes just leaning against the counter I can feel it.
  14. Congratulations! Very inspiring! Keep up the good work!
  15. I was banded 1/28 and have lost 25 lbs so far. 6 of those lbs were from my 2-wk pre-op diet. It is a little frustrating because I think I should be losing more. I do believe I am losing inches because my clothes are getting pretty loose :cursing: Good luck to everyone!
  16. I did the same as all of you.... just hang in there. It is worth a little "hell" right now for long term results. Just talk yourself through each day. It does get better!
  17. I did not have a program fee at all. I think it should be included in the total cost.
  18. My daughter was a self-pay ($15K) and my insurance paid for mine. So far, the hospital/doc's have billed the insurance around $25K. I believe the doctors are expected to "write-off" was is beyond customary. If I were you, I would call your insurance company and ask them to look into it. Sounds like some fraud going on there.
  19. I was banded on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I also have a desk job and probably could have went back to work after a couple of days. Good luck!
  20. Congratulations! I can't wait to get there! I'm hoping to hit onederland in the next couple of weeks!
  21. I was banded on 1/28 and had my first fill on 3/8. My doc said that everyone is different and some people may need multiple fills while others only 1 or 2. I've been very surprised how much restriction I've gotten with only 1 fill. I'm scheduled for another one on 4/7. I have a 10cc band with 1cc fill so far. Good luck on what you're doing, it seems to be working!
  22. I'm anxious to see how other January Bandsters are doing. Sometimes the weight loss seems slow, but it is coming off. I was banded 1/28/10 and have lost 25 lbs since my pre-diet. How's everyone else doing?
  23. My problem wasn't so much drinking the shakes, but the lack of actually chewing something. I think it was all psychological. After my first fill, my doc put you back on a liquid diet for a couple of days. I didn't mind the shakes at that time, but when it was time for real food again, it was wonderful! You just have to push thru these critical times. It's worth it in the end.
  24. I had my first fill on Monday and then did 2 days of a liquid diet. That was tough! I was soo hungry. My doc will only put 1cc in each month. I have a 10cc band. Not feeling restriction yet, maybe next month.
