  1. LOL everyone is different. Sometimes it comes out North, sometimes South. VV2010 ~ glad you are doing well :cursing:
  2. Blood clots were my biggest fear! I hardly even sat down before my flight - wanted to walk as much as possible. I did the leg stretches and foot circles during the flight. When I changed my flight to an earlier time, I was able to get a non-stop. I felt very fortunate not to have the layover.
  3. Good luck with your surgery! It is an amazing tool!
  4. [quote name= Last night I forgot to take my evening calcium and had foot cramps all night. I wonder if there's a correlation between the two. That was the only thing I could think of. Would the cramps be from the calcium or lack of potassium?? If I get low in potassium, then I get cramps in my legs or feet. I usually take one tablet a day. I have been way too low before and had to drink two little dixie cups of it. It was horrid. As bad or worse than the purple crap we had to drink for the post op leak test : (
  5. I am sorry to hear you are having problems! It must be very frustrating! I can only comment a little - maybe someone with a medical background can answer more. My back was very sore after my tummy tuck and a little after this surgery. If your stomach muscles aren't "pulling their weight" - then the back has to work harder. Or maybe it is sore because you aren't moving around much and/or staying in the same position for too long? Hopefully the back pain isn't from the incision issues. I am surprised about your BP tho! Mine is always at that level. The only time is changes is if I am in great pain and then it is higher. Again, not a medical professional .... Did your doctor put you on antibiotics for the infection? I hope you are able to find a surgeon to help you!
  6. Good Luck! All will be well soon : )
  7. I have often had headaches when going thru sugar withdrawal also when going on the Adkins diet or similar. It passes in a few days. Get as much Protein as you can, that might help. Soon you will feel great!!
  8. anything that gives a good overview of the surgery and a picture of what they actually do. maybe something like this: Gastric Sleeve Surgery a post-op diet guideline like: http://www.cornellweightlosssurgery.org/pdf/dietary_guidelines_sleeve_gastrectomy.pdf I am sure there are lots to choose from online. I would find something simple tho; your dr probably won't have a ton of time to read a book : )
  9. I didn't feel great on day 2, was nervous about the flight and thought about changing the flight times - but by Sunday morning, day 3, I was feeling fine and very excited to get home. I took a pain pill before getting on the plane as a precaution but didn't take any after that. I did splurge on a first class seat coming home and was very happy that I did! Was nice to have the extra room.
  10. My primary was a new doctor to me as we changed insurance last fall. I was very afraid to tell her - and then by the time I decided to tell her, she was out of town until after I got back. I wrote her a letter and then had a followup with her when I got back. I was very surprised to hear the office staff telling me about other patients who have gone out of the country for a variety of surgeries. She has been very supportive and even printed my weight chart as a souvenier showing how much weight I had lost! :001_smile: She was not familiar with VSG so I was glad I had given her printouts, etc. She was totally thinking bypass, malnutrition, etc.
  11. Good luck with your planning Amy! My only regret is that I didn't know about it sooner! It is a wonderful tool : )
  12. LMAO Thin! And let me guess, you look better than her now??? : )
  13. Capital One also does medical financing via an unsecured credit card, or they used to! Who knows with the current state of affairs with lending. Their interest rate is based on your credit rating. If you can afford to make larger payments, the interest you are paying is less. I agree with Dalisgirl tho that your own bank or credit union might be much better. Many businesses are starting to pass the 3-4% fee the credit card companies charge them to process the transaction on to the customers. That is why American Express is/was accepted by so few businesses. AE doesn't charge interest to their customers who pay the account off monthly, so they had to make money somewhere. They did it by charging 5-7% of each transaction as well as a monthly fee to the business.
  14. me too! no will power here! I ate the candy! LOL ok. really not much. One or two robins eggs and a single reces pb cup in the last week. And I had milk with them so that balanced it out, right?? : ) I also keep a container of Sara Lee Cheesecake Bites in the freezer. I think 26 bites is a serving - and I will have 1 or 2, rarely 3, when I am in need of a treat. I think you drive yourself crazy if you always deprive yourself. Moderation, don't over do it.
  15. I had foot surgery on each foot, one in 1987 and the other in 1989. The areas on both feet are still numb. It is small and doesn't bother me at all. Just wish it would make my toes hurt less then I stub them!!
  16. Hey Mini! Just noticed that you are over halfway! Congrats!!
  17. LOL about moving faster! I had mexi food for the second time at our favorite restaurant last night. A few bites and I was too full. It was much less than I was able to eat the last time! I was very disappointed! The beans, ground beef and tortilla went down ok, I think it was the cheese - it was on there pretty thick. I sipped as much Water as possible to hopefully loosen things up. The tummy ache finally went away but it was definitely in my throat for awhile! :confused1:
  18. AMAZING!! and only 8 more lbs to go! I sent my husband home for his camera. We took photos at one month and I totally forgot about them! We should go out to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate! LOL
  19. What a pain and how stressful! Only you can answer that question - are these signs? Listen to the messages you are receiving from Him and then decide. For me personally, I would continue on and see how you feel when you get there. You can always change your mind if things don't feel right or ask to wait one more day. I don't know if God causes flight delays and earthquakes, altho I would imagine He could if He wanted to. I guess another way to think about it would be - are you currently taking care of your body the way God would want you to? Are you healthy enough to live your life serving? thoughts and prayers are with you! Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9, NIV)
  20. A girlfriend of mine had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery later. The doctor used skin and fat from her tummy. It was a mess. The surgeon just did a lousy job. She looks fine with clothes on but her right breast doesn't look anything like a real one and her tummy has lots of scars. If you are doing it electively and not as reconstruction surgery, I don't think I would risk it unless there is a way for the dr to insure the breast doesn't turn out lumpy.
  21. that's awesome citygal!! and love your international security "connection" : ) I have a friend who's husband is retired FBI - was one of the president's men. When I left the country a year ago to go to Algeria, she was one of the few who knew exactly where I was going ... just in case I needed help getting out! You will do great! You have an awesome attitude!
  22. seriously. and here all this time I thought potatoes were good for you ... minus the butter, sour cream, bacon, etc.
  23. LOL gas, things moving faster .... any and all of it! : ) I do like beans tho, will try some soon!
  24. Sorry Bill, but I have to disagree. Maybe one or both of those guys is seeing other girls and that's why they haven't asked her for a committment? Plus, I think being casual friends for a longer time before getting serious is a good thing. When I have been single, I have dated more than one guy at once. If they asked what my status was, then I told them. There are other reasons to move forward carefully.... Tiger, Jesse James, John Edwards ... LOL
  25. LOL *peacock poops* I was forewarned not to be surprised about a blue or purple surprise, but never had anything come out colorful. I felt so deprieved : (
