  1. I'm only 4 days post band. I have been trying and coming close to getting in my 64 oz of Fluid daily, but don't really drink straight Water. I drink very diluted juices mostly. Do you think that's ok? I just find plain water so boring!
  2. Here's my quandry. So if we are counting calories and protein and fat, sugar, etc., what actual 'role' does the band play? Is it that it shrinks your stomach so you get full faster? Sometimes I feel like if I had stuck to all of these guidelines to begin with, why did I need the band. I'm not trying to be negative here, I'm really asking. How do you feel the lap band is different from all the other programs we've tried?

  4. Well I don't drink booze ( but I do think it's funny that it counted as a clear liquid! ) coffee is my drug of choice, and I only drink the finest! hehe I'm with you - Peets is the best!
  5. I just added half a packet of the Caramel Via to 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk, and one scoop of my whey vanilla protein powder. It was deeeeeelish! Just like a regular frappucino but 20g protein!
  6. Should I be more concerned with sugar or calories? I've been keeping a journal of what I consume (still on full liquid phase) , and keeping track of calories and protein. For example, my instructions from the Dr. says diluted juice, but juice has a lot of sugar. I'm a little confused about all this. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks, JennyPenny
  7. Two unrelated-to-coffee- questions: How do I 'friend' people, and how do I get the ticker on to my profile?
  8. Thank you so much! Great to get all this input!
  9. Thank you Mandilou- I'm sure you're right! After awhile of having the band, I can re-evaluate. I'm doing everything else to a T, so why risk that slippery slope. And yes, it WILL work if you work it. There's a slogan I'm quite familiar with! I am having the most difficult time on this website, and I consider my self quite computer savvy! haha
  10. Ok, Be honest! Does anyone drink even a teeny weeny bit of coffee even though we're told not to? I see blogs where people do drink a bit of coffee with no negative effects. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I do miss my half cup in the morning.
  11. Ok...be honest....did anyone NOT quit drinking coffee, and had NO problems? I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but really miss my half cup in the morning. My Dr's. assistant said that caffeine of any kind will affect the band negatively, and yet I've seen on various blogs that some people do drink coffee.
  12. Did anyone have the fear that this 'isn't going to work'. I guess because I've tried every diet and program known to man, I get scared that this won't work either. I have to just have faith, and follow the post-op diet to a T, which I am doing. It's hard though because it hurts when I 'eat'. Also - how long does it take for the swollen abdomen to go down? Lastly, I'm a bit confused by this website. Do you receive an email notification when someone responds to you, or just to the thread in general?
  13. I was banded Friday too! I'm on full liquids, but I'm having difficulty discerning between being full and just the tenderness and bloat from surgery. And I'm hungry! All in all though I'm excited and hopeful. Would love to share the journey with you and others who were very recently banded! Easy healing!
  14. I am a 51 year old woman and my starting weight was 200lbs. After the pre-op diet I lost 5 lbs., but I'm sure it was all water weight. I'd love to connect with other newly banded women, in any age group, to 'go through' this together. I also wanted to join the forum to be able to ask questions of other brave banders that went before me! I am currently on full liquids-oatmeal, protein shakes, cream of wheat, etc. I find it difficult at this stage because it's hard for me to tell if I'm 'full' or not due to the pressure and tenderness from surgery. I am however following the food and liquid amounts that were prescribed. My abdomen is very swollen. Aprox. how long does that last? At what point do you 'feel' your fullness? Lastly, suggestions for fat free soups. My friend made my lentil soup, but I'm afraid it may be too gassy. Love to hear from some of you.
