  1. First & foremost I am my kid's mom! I am also a claims processor for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
  2. How awesome for you both!!! I can't wait till I can say the same!!! (I was banded 1/4/10). Congrats to you both!!
  3. OK - a couple more questions - do you all eat normally as you have been before getting a fill? - does it matter? Also, do you go all liquid for a day or two after getting a fill? Thanks for all the help!
  4. OMG! Unless you have a surgeon who is a butcher, there is no contest!!! I would do it over in a heartbeat! and I'm only 21 days out. My scars are healing nicely - I have 5 scars - three really tiny (maybe 1/4"), one that is about 1/2" or so, and one that I assume is my port scar, that is a litter over 1". I am putting Bio Oil on it at least twice a day. But I'm with most of the other ladies when they say you can hide a scar - who wants to carry around 100+ lbs - you can't hide that!!! Good luck!!!

  6. CherieLynne - I know just what you mean about more recent weight gains coming off easier than weight that has been around longer. I think the longer we've had the fat, the more comfortable and settled it gets - it just hangs on for dear life!!!
  7. I think the commercials and Ellen bits are hilarious!!!! But seriously, I think I want one of these!!!! I think anything with weight in it that makes you use muscle would not be a bad thing! But I certainly wouldn't do it in front of anyone!!! haha!
  8. I was banded Jan 4, 2010, and just started working out a few days ago. I was going to go to Curves, but I was fortunate enough to find a local women's fitness place that has lots of equipment for just $10 a month - and no sign-up fee!!! So my 13 yr-old daughter and I both signed up (although she is by no means overweight, just wants to tone up, as she is not into playing sports). I plan on working out 5 days a week there. I also walk at work, 30-40 minutes a day. Weekends will be either rest days, or I may do the Wii. Good luck to you all!
  9. I don't think I've heard of anything so blatantly WRONG!! To start on a journey such as this, and to have this happen - I agree - your 'doctor' should compensate you big time!! I think it would be a good idea to post the name of your physician, if you feel comfortable doing so, just so that others may steer clear of him. I pray that you find a good doc in your area, sue your original doctor, and start a new and wonderful chapter in your weight loss journey. God Bless!!!
  10. Thanks all! You have really helped make up my mind! I will definitely be doing my fills on Mondays - YEA!!!!! One week till my first fill!!!!! :cursing:
  11. Hi all! I just got banded on Jan 4, 2010, and am looking forward to my first fill. My question is, do you find it is better to be filled on a Friday, so that you have the weekend to do some "adjusting" before returning to work on Monday, or are Monday fills ok? I'd like your opinions. I have the option of doing either, however, my physician has two offices where he does fills, one that does them the fourth Friday of the month, and one that does them the first Monday of the month. I am anxious to get my first fill, and if I choose the Monday office, I can get it on Feb 1. :cursing: If I choose the Friday office (which is a little closer driving wise), I will have to wait until Feb 26--almost another whole month. :scared2: Do you find that you need the weekend to "recover" from a fill? Thanks for your thoughts on the matter!!
  12. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's a learning experience for us all. I know it must be difficult to be patient, but just remember you will eventually find your "sweet spot". Have you discussed your concerns with your physician? I would urge you to, and to make sure you are not drinking 30 min before or 1 hour after meals. (I'm sure you knew that already! : ) Good luck - everyone here seems so supportive - I'm knew myself (just banded Jan 4, 2010), but an really liking this website more than any others I have looked over.
  13. Although I am also new here, I can see that the support here is phenominal. Please don't let ANYONE deter you from your personal goals. I urge you to find a good therapist. They will help you to see how special and important you are. Just post here when you are feeling down or alone. We will help lift you up. If your husband insists on bringing "bad" food into the home, after you have asked him not to, I would just dump them into the trash before you have a chance to be tempted by them, at least early on. Later on, it will be easier to resist, as you are feeling more in control of your choices. I would also urge you to turn to your faith - I know God has strengthened me during many trials in my life. Good luck - I will pray for God to give you strength and peace. I konw you can perservere!!!
  14. I'm speaking purely from what I've read on this and other sites, as I've not had my first fill yet - but I've read that if you drink some warm liquid first thing in the morning, it "loosens" the band up some. Worth a try! Good luck!!
  15. Ok, I think I've got names for my band and port - Bonnie & Clyde. Bonnie for my band, and Clyde for my port. Hopefully Bonnie (with occasional help from Clyde) will "shoot down" my hunger pains. Yeah, I know, it's lame, but it's the best I could come up with!!
  16. I was banded on Jan 4, 2010. I have had no problems so far. I lost 12 lbs the first week (yea!) but only 2 or three since. I just started working out yesterday (Feb 21) so that should help. I don't go for my first fill until Feb 1. I can't wait! I'm hoping it will get a little easier. It seems I'm hungry a lot of the time right now. Good luck to you all!
  17. I am a new bandster - jan 4, 2010. My first week went great! 2 weeks out, and no problems! I'm kind of bummed though, 'cause I don 't get my first fill till the last week in Feb. I lost 12 lbs the first week, but nothing last week. I'm having a problem wanting to snack in the evenings. But I'm working on it!! I still have to learn how to put all the goodies on on my posts, though - maybe someone could tell me where to go to get help on this?
  18. OMG! This is the funniest thing I have seen since I've been looking at Lap Band forums!! Now I have to come up with a name for mine . . . .
  19. I had always planned on being released from the hospital the same day as I had my surgery, but the surgery started out scheduled at 10:00 am, and ended up actually being performed at 1:30-2:00 pm. My physician wanted me to stay overnight, but I talked him into letting me go home. I thought I would rest better in my own bed, and didn't want anyone having to make the 2 1/2 hour drive back up to the hospital the next day. I've done ok - a lot more comfy in my own home and recliner. I had my surgery on Monday, Jan 4, and I'm doing well so far. Already tired of liquids, though!
