  1. My surgery got moved to Feb. 9. That's only 1 day, so not a big deal.

As for the Preop diet. I am starting it today. I am hungry, but I'm trying not to think about it. Not doing very well though. I had to sit in my bedroom while my kids ate breakfast.

It will be rough, definitely. Just remember, you will look back and it will only be a bump in the road on your journey to a skinnier, healthier you! You can do it!

  2. I am truly more educated on this topic than many people, including you I guarantee. I called hummingbird an idiot because she was acting like one, as stated in my response to her mocking my higher education.

Since when did a college education become devalued? Since other people became jealous?

I did exactly what I was asked to do, educate all the igorant biased individuals about intersexed individuals and responded accordingly when I was attacked for doing so.

And you can guarantee that you are more educated on this topic how? You have not asked me about my college training nor have I said anything about it. The only thing I commented on was your rudeness and holier-than-thou attitude.

Feel free to live your life feeling above everyone else, just be aware that you come off as arrogant and actually look less educated because of it. Someone with so much college training would have certainly learned their manners by now, right? Did you miss that class?

Anyway, we are straying from the original topic once again. I marked my gender and should probably move along now. :w00t:

  3. Well, there were lots of rude and arrogant comments on this topic. She was hardly alone and I do believe she simply responded to the question she was asked. Seems to me that something other than that is going on. But I'm checking out of this one.

She called someone an idiot lol, I think that takes the crown for "rude". It is obvious she thought she was more educated than everyone else on the topic, when in fact she wasn't. But she did stop talking eventually (most likely because she realized she wasn't the only one who has ever gone to school in their life) so I guess we can thank her for that.

  4. Fellow....Feb bandsters.....afraid....im not going to be banded on the 8th of Feb. I met with my pulmonologist and diagnosed me with severe sleep apnea and ill need at least 6 weeks to be treated before being banded. So not happy..but better safe....and if this is whats needed to be safe...then this is what comes first....so im being bumped to March 15th....but ill still be here to support you all....as you all get banded and then you all can tell me all about it!!!!

Bummer about the delay.. but you will get there! We will all be there to support you when you DO get it done!

  5. Hey Stacey! I'm Stacey too!

    Hey Everyone!

I have scheduled my surgery for 2/5/10 in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. A few people (of the very few that I have told) are very happy and excited for me, others are not happy that I'm going to Mexico and think that I'm putting my health in jeopardy. I want to tell them to bug-off but that wouldn't be very nice. Any advise for me on how to handle this?

Hey, I am getting my surgery done by Dr. Ortiz as well. My mom just had hers done a few days ago and she LOVED it down there. They are super gfreat, very professional, no issues whatsoever! I don't think that just because it is in Mexico, people should assume there is something wrong with it! It is a really great facility and everything will be great! I am going on February 22, so you are a bit ahead of me!

  6. Here you go! LAP-BAND®

Congrats on the band!!! Glad to hear you are doing so well!

Ok, don't mind me... I am a February bandster.. but how did you get to that area Just-Ice?? I clicked your link and it went to this cool Social Groups area, but when I am on the main page, I don't know how to navigate to it without your link? HELP PLEASE!

  7. WELL it is good to know that I may get to have it *sometimes* at least... I am trying to get through my top ramen and cup noodles stash before surgery lol! My favorite meal right now is a cup noodles with some hot sauce in it, eat all the noodles, then put a baked potato in the leftover juice and mush it up!! Weird I know but MMMMMM.. very good lol

  8. Ok, I have a read a bunch about what you can eat when you are banded but here is my question. I eat a lot of top ramen... yes the cheap stuff for college students lol.. I really love it! Since ti is noodles and liquid, is that not something I should eat when I am banded? I know you aren't supposed to drink while eating so it seems like a bad idea... but I need to know what some veteran bandsters think?? I would hate to lose my top ramen but if I need to I will!

  9. I actually have been doing the opposite. I get my surgery on Feb 22, meaning I don't need to do my pre-op diet until Feb 10. Right now I am eating healthy and losing a little weight on my own. I have only thought of 1 place I want to go before my surgery, other that that I am not worried about eating after the band because I am hoping that for the most part, I can eat normal foods, just smaller quantities. Because of this, I don't feel like I will be missing out on much, so I am not in panic mode!

  10. Hi Janelle! I am using Dr Ortiz too. My surgery is scheduled for January 15th- this FRIDAY! I'm very excited.

Well I just wanted to say hi and congrats on your decision. I agree with your comments about insurance- we are in the same boat!

Awesome!! You are lucky.. I have to wait until February 22, so I am just counting down now!! Have you been on the other forums just for OCC? I go on both but the other one is just for OCC so everyone is on the same diet plans, has the same experiences, etc.

My mom just got back from surgery and she absolutely LOVED everyone, said it was the best experience. So, you are gonna have a great time!

  11. I'm not sure about "most people won't lose 100% of the weight" because I have seen so many people reach their goals. Why would someone opt for a weight loss surgery that wouldn't help them lose all their weight? I think if your attitude is right and you have the right fills you can lose all the weight. Kind of a pessimistic doctor if you ask me!

I am paying for mine out of my own pocket since insurance doesn't cover it, but after reading all the insurance stories, I think I prefer this way. I get to go to the awesome Dr. Ortiz in Mexico and pay a fraction of the cost of the American doctors prices.. and from everyone I have talked to, it was the best experience they have had, no complaints about the clinic or the doctors. I also didn't have to wait for months and months to get approval and all that, so all in all I am happy with my self pay option. I feel bad for all you guys using insurance and jumping through so many hoops but I guess that is insurance for you, huh? They are ever easy to deal with..
