  1. Hi everyone, it's been a while since I have been on here and it looks like regular postings have really slowed down. Once I stopped getting the email ticklers that there was a new post in here it was hard to come back and check things out. I need to check out this new format to get used to it.

Reflecting this past could days has been rewarding; In January I started this journey and had surgery in April. To date I have lost 105 pds...a whole new me!! It has really slowed for me and its getting hard to push back from the foods that I can now tolerate since surgery. But I am getting refocused and looking to do 50 by 50!! That's 50 pds by my 50th birthday in August...we shall see!

Here is to all of you--I hope all is well with everyone!

  2. Hi All!

I wanted to jump in really quick to tell you, I finally got a surgery date! I will be getting the sleeve on Nov. 29. I go back to Dr. Le on the 23rd and then meet with the anesthesiologist. That afternoon, I am going to the pre-op class. The one caveat to the date is, I have to continue to lose before the 23rd, or he will cancel the surgery. So I am looking for anyway to keep myself more motivated!

When is the next support group in Sacramento? I really like that one.

Congrats Stacey! I was told the same thing and the thought of having the surgery cancelled kept me focused. Just stick to the diet and get some exercise and you will be fine. Don't weigh yourself everyday, I would go every 3 days otherwise you get to obsessed about it.

    Congrats!

  3. All is well here too. Just not much to say...lol I remembered yesterday that I never did have a 3 month check up; they called and scheduled a phone appt but Robin never called...oh well, I am doing great so its all good I just don't want them to think I was the flake...

I am still losing weight and am at 93 pounds lost since end of January. I am trying to bump up my walking to get 7 more pounds done by 10/26...that would put me at 100 in 9 months! I am so happy that I started this journey and am thankful to everyone of you as you have each had a part in this.

I am doing another 5k walk this Sunday in Downtown Sac; It's a fun way to get more walking in. Its a breast cancer walk with Am cancer society, you can sign up that day if anyone else is interested.

  4. Hi Shannon, welcome back to the focus of health! The diet worked well for me for the opposite reason, it wasn't hard to keep food around that was on the diet, I couldn't do all the planning and worrying, I needed something that fit into my lifestyle. This diet has lots of options and I tend to find a meal that I like and repeat it over and over. But this is why we are all here, there are lots of ideas here and everyone is willing to share and you can pick what works for you.

Hope to see everyone at Point West.

  6. Rach, sorry for your struggles. I hope you can work through this, this is a good place to look for ideas and support.

Ok everyone, I need some help. I have to take a dessert to work on Tuesday and I want to take something that I could eat...anyone have any good dessert ideas? Maybe a ricotta cheese something? I guess I could google some ideas but thought you might have some good suggestions.

    Nice weather--love it.

  7. Hi everyone! Hope your week has been good so far! Today started a new month--time is flying by! I am trying to refocus myself to the good eating habits, now that I can eat a larger variety of food I have to be extra cautious about getting lax in my food choices. There has been way to many celebrations happening around me so I have to stop participating in the events if I can't be strong.

    Hugs to all!

  8. Sherri,

The food amount seems about right from my experience I know I wasn't eating much qty. The low energy is something I didn't experience. Do you think its physical or it could be just some hormonal changes that are making you feel low in energy. The hormones tend to get all messed up with rapid weight loss. Get out and walk as much as you can, the light excercise helps physically and mentally.

I am glad its at least getting better, keep positive!

    Looking forward to Saturday.

  9. Sherri, how are you feeling? I think the last post I remember is that you were having trouble following surgery. I hope your better.

Today was supposed to be my follow-up call from Robin today, it will be 4 months post op this Thursday but she must have got busy because didn't get the call.

I walked the golden gate bridge on Saturday, that was nice fun walk, had never done that before. Haven't walked since as today is to freakn hot!!!

  10. Hi Cole, I started this with the band as my focus and not even thinking about anything else, mostly because the only other option was the RNY and I knew I didn't want that; after a few weeks I opened up my mind to the sleeve and the decision was hard but I did end up switching to sleeve.

Most on the board are banders I think due to the same, when they started the sleeve was not even offered. It only started being offered by Kaiser late last year.

    Good luck with your decision.

Have you seen the doctor yet?

  11. Hi Everyone!!!!

Mo - Sorry about your hand! I hope you get better soon!

Ali – Thanks! How are you doing?

Lee – I’m great. Not really losing the last couple weeks. My B-12 was low at my last checkup so we shall see in the next couple weeks when I have my next one. I started using the B-12 from Trader Joes that you recommended. They dissolve much better so hopefully that will bring my B-12 levels up. How are you? Your exercise is awesome! I wish I had your drive!

Few more pounds to Onederland hopefully by the end of September.

    How is everyone?????????

Thanks John for asking. I am doing good. Like you my loss has slowed the last couple weeks but I think I was getting a little lax on my foods so I refocused myself and am trying to kick up my walking minutes. I am down 80 pds since starting this journey at the end of January so I am extremely happy and feel absolutely wonderful. My B12 was low also, I do struggle trying to remember to take all the Vitamins so I am doing much better at it this past week. I think I was feeling so good I thought I didn't need it but I know that is the wrong attitude to so now I have them at home and at work so if I forget I have them at least at my desk so I can take them. I had my 3 month labs done and they called and told me about the B12 but my 3-month apt is by phone at the end of this month...what will Robin ask me? I really don't have any issues with anything so it should be a short phone call except where she reminds me to take my vitamins!. :(

  12. oh gosh, that is so horrible! can't even begin to know what the mom and family are going through! just unimaginable!! thoughts are with you as it must be hard for you too!

Riley, sorry your having to go through all this. Weren't you the one trying to get into the study? did you get an answer and if so, does this gallbladder thing change that?
