Insurance said yes, then no after the procedure.

Doctors offices will always bill insurance companies more than they will a individual person. This way they will get the maximum payment and then write off the balance. It depends on if your HMO, PPO, In Network or Out. Be firm with the insurance company.
  3. LOL! My doctor insisted I was 5' 4" and I told him no I wasn't I'm 5' 5". I got upset with him since he didn't even take my height. (Can you say Blond moment!) He still wrote 5' 4" on the paperwork. hahaha! It wasn't until I left that it hit me. DUH! That was 4 years ago and I never went though with the surgery. So I'm having to start over now.
  4. I forgot to ask, what insurance are you under? HMO or PPO? It really makes a difference on how long it takes to get approved.

  5. Wow really! Well I can't Say for sure If we'll be banded in Febuary. We have been through the process with another doctor so Im basing the process after what we already went through at USC. Orientation, appt. w/ doctor, send authorization to Ins., Schedule surgery, meet dietition, wait for surgery date. The process took just over a month. Didn't have to journal anything. So it's depressing to know that it was such a long process for you to go through since we have the same doctor. Ours will be paid via Health Insurance 80/20 share on PPO. It took just over a week to get our last authorization. My fiance is in the medical field and says authorization can be soley held up due to the experience of the person writing the authorization. He turned in his own authorization to the doctor last time. So I don't know for sure if that helped. I sure hope we don't have such a long process. Boowhoo!

Yes let stay in touch though especially since we are so close! :)

  6. Hi, I saw you on the Feb 2010 board. We have the same doctor!! I'm being banded Feb 3rd by Dr. Coirin. If you're just now haveing Orientation, how are you being banded in Feb? Are you self pay? I had Orientation in March 2009 and my insurance made me journal for 6 months, get a psych eval, go to a dietician and finally I was approved last week for my surgery in Feb.

Since we're being banded by the same surgeon at about the same time we should keep track of each other. Have they started you on the pre-op diet yet?

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

#1. Surgery date? Not scheduled yet, Orientation Next Wednesday and Doctor is scheduling for Febuary surgeries. #2. State you live in? California Baby! #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr. Antonio Coirin #4. Insurance or self pay? Insurance (80/20) #5. Age and height ...37 #6. Current weight and goal weight? 248 (5lbs variance daily) #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? Well let's see... The daily pain my body is in carring the weight is a grreat factor but the final factor was me deleting all the pictures of me and my family from this past Christmas. I use to love getting my kids all dressed up and having our pictures taken together. But It's been years since I done that. My fiance wants a picture of us together but I wont do it. I wont get married until I feel comfortable in my own skin again. Pathetic! #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? I sure do! #8. Concerns and questions? Tons but were do I start...Oh yeah Orientation! Yippy!

    First Step

So, Next week my fiance and I will take the first step to change our lives. The Lap-Band orientation. We have been through it before a few years back and scheduled for surgery but we ended up having to move due to a better job opportunity. So now we are starting over and thrilled to get this started again. I can't wait!
