  1. i am 6 wks post op and i lose 2 pds a week steady ! im not hungry and i dont want a fill yet. im not sure if its what "restriction"is but i weigh my Protein and measure my veggies and carbs and i get full for about 3-4 hrs i have head hunger some times but for the most part im never starving or experience "bandster hell" for that im thankful so for me i say im managing without a fill for now

  2. I hope I didnt mess up anything running. I hear P90X is a beast. Im no gonna mess with that yet. I am still jogging with C25K and be picking up pace even more. I am nervous about port since I dont feel it as much as I did on touching my stomach 2 wks ago. Cant wait till next Thurs for my fill.

they have p90 no x that is a little milder but still challenging im doing that my goal is to do it 3 days a week and walk/elliptical 2 days a week i just started last saturday.... im hoping the excercise will kick up the weight loss i go for first fill thursday

  3. I've been told the same thing by my surgeon. I'm only 3 months from being banded as well. Hopefully Dec. I've lost 23 pounds so far. Keep loosing and gaining the same 6 pounds lately. I'm so excited to start this journey just scared of what life will be like when I'm not the fattest person in the room anymore. Anyone feel nervous about shedding all of this?

i lost 20 pds in the 6 month preop. 9 pounds post op im 6 days out. and iam very afraid of shedding the weight because in the past ive lost weight and then sabotaged myself when i was slim and had too much attention so this time i plan to get a therapist

  4. Now that most have had their surgery, lets do a poll on incisions and port location.

I had 5 incisions and my port is just under my left breast bone.

Took about a week before I could sleep on my tummy and was one of the lucky ones it appears as that I had absolutely no gas pains.

Took 1 week off of work but could have gone back the last 2 days of my week off.

    My Stats:

Weighed 224 when received approval (8/2/10)

Weighed 212 day of surgery (8/27/10)

Weighed 199 today. Broke the 200 lb barrier this morning. It's been at least 8 years when I was below 200.

    Cathy

i have 5 incisions and my port is to the left of my belly button . i didnt have terrible gas but i did have more pain than i expected . i am 6 days post op took 2 wks off not sure when i will be ready to go back .:smile2:

    My stats :

    weight on day approval 260

    weight day of surgery 250

    weight today 241

  5. Good morning to all from NC. I am new to the site. I received my LAP-BAND®® Thurs 9/16/10. Its been a journey not knowing what to feel or expect. Been alot of gas and discomfort. But suprising to me I had a little emotional melt down where I wanted the band out night of surgery. I felt weird but was okay after given something for nausea and pain. Looking for friends to correspond with. I feel like im on an island right now. The support I had prior has wained. I think my parents are upset with me they didnt want me to do it- go figure when all of the adult women in immediate family are obese and have multiple helath problems.

Anyway, Im back at work today and we shall see how it goes:unsure:

you are my band twin how are u ? i was banded on 9/16 also and dont think i could go back to work today so you go girl:thumbup: i feel better everyday but im not at 100% yet maybe 75% lets keep in touch and encourage each other on our journey

  6. i was banded on 9/16 and i have to say the pain was much more than i expected i took all the pain meds offered. i stayed 24 hrs in hospital and wanted one more day i was in PAIN. today is day3 and iam much better i can get out the bed by myself i can walk upright im finally begining to think its gonna be ok. i had an excellent nurse and i was in a bariatric unit so they gave us excellent care. I am at about 55% I cant wait to be at 100%the gas is horrible but at least its coming out

  7. So finally got out of hospital this afternoon!

Gas pain and tummy bruising is bothering me a lot and I am not finding the pain killers are doing a lot!

I am about to go to bed for the night. Hopefully the gas will have settled down a bit tomorrow

Hope everyone else has done well with their surgery and on the road to recovery!

surgery sept 16.. im still in alot of pain much more pain than i anticipated but its getting a lil better everyday ..... just didnt expect to be in so much initial pain. still not sorry yet.....:scared2:

  9. Hey Everyone! I am new to this site and just recently had my first consult with surgeon. I have been given all the paperwork or really checklist of physicians that need to be seen prior to getting a letter sent to GHI. At first my i was scared when i left his office only because this is a huge decision that i am making, and was thinking of having the single incision LAP-BAND®. Of course I smoke, which makes it more difficult for me. I guess i am more stressed knowing that i have to quit or no surgery and that made me more intense. I have already seen the endocrinologist and cardiologist, have a pulmonary visit tomorrow. My insurance doesnt cover the nutrionist so that will be an out of pocket expense, but its ok because i have to do this. I am 5 ft tall and have gained over 85 lbs in the last 3 years alone. I can barely make it up the stairs, i have atrial fibrillation, which is a heart arrythmia, and I just wanna be able to play ball and run around with my 9 year old son. i can't wear jeans because my waste is tiny and behind is plump, lol. I have to be healthy for me and for him. i hear such great stories on here but of course with any surgeries its a bit scary. we have to take the bad with the good i guess. if we want to be healthy we gotta do what we have to do.

has anyone here smoked prior to surgery and if so what did you have to do to quit? i am also worried a bit about the eating, and the gas pains that i have read about. i don't have a gallbladder so i guess its no worse than that...i hope not..lol..

i am hoping for an october date, but we will see. i am trying to get all my md appts done within the next week and then will submit everything to surgeon for submission to insurance? does anyone have GHI? im curious as to how much time to take off from work, maybe 2-3 weeks, does that sound reasonable? geez so many questions..lol

    please keep in touch everyone!

ladies and gents i wish you all the best of luck with your surgeries and post surgeries.

i have ghi and it took about 7 days after they submitted paper work for approval > im taking off 2 wks even though i have a desk job . im scared to go back earlier best of luck on your journey
