  1. :) okay i want to be honest. this is the only way i am gonna be a free and in control. as of jan 14th i was at 249. i had actually gained 32 lbs. i was at 217 last april when i got my 2 cc unfill. i was ashamed but, i feel like ppl on here feel my pain and understand. no one i mean no one except you guys know this thruth. my family and freinds was told i gained 17 lbs. where 17 came from who knows. LOL. I got down to 238 sunday morning. had an episode on sunday with nuts i guess and gained back up to 242. read my post about this. but this morning back down to 240. i am happy with this. it is my journey, i am gonna call and get a fill tomorrow. because i feel i need it, i am ready to not hurt my self with food. meaning overeating, using slider foods with liquids. i will let you all know how it goes and thank you for being my support team. we all can do this. we gotta use mind over want. with God all things are possible and i chose to not let food control me.


  2. I am reading posts talking about when ppl get stuck and then they have the "slime".... can someone please explain what this is all about so I know what to expect...

    Not sure about others. I have been banded since 6/7/07. Trust me, I know all about stucks, and slime. My happens when i am not paying attention to how much I eat. And, that last bite causes me to know that i have overeat. I feel like i am gonna have to throw up and before i can get to the bathroom i start having saliva build up in my mouth and up comes the food that i overate. honestly, i have not made it to the bathroom alot of times and thrown up in the floor. Trust me I would not trade my band for nothing in the world, but I have done it all. Plz. listen to your body. start off with a small portion on your plate. do not push yourself to see how much you can eat. I have been doing this for the last year. Honestly gave up and started eating sliders (junk). washing it down with liquids. i can tell you it is not worth it. I have had to throw up in cups in the car, in the restaurant. and i keep saying to myself why do you do this. it is all in your mind. it is a matter of control. my family are use to me doing this. my husband is my best supporter he will look at me and say chew, chew, chew. he cooks all our meals and now he knows to fix me small portions.Since april of last year i had to have some cc taken out because i pushed the issue and got too tight, throwing up all the time, to the point that i had heart burn, acid reflus. i gained back up to 249. i got back on track as of the 15th of Jan. and i got down to 238.5. had a boo boo (too much salty cashews). Water gain big time. went back up to 242 as of sunday, but back down to 240 this moring. drink your Water, do not let head hunger play with you. i was at 304 now 240 so i am so happy. stay away from salty stuff. hope this helps.


  3. Okay yesterday did good as I have not cheated now in 2 wks today. Up until last night I had lost 11 lbs. Yea Baby. Today woke up drank about 4 cups coffee. Around 10:30 had my Protein Shake with my normal 1/2 banana and 1 tsp. p.nut butter. Went to movies with family ate (took my own stuff) 1 cup cashews and drank 16 oz flavored water. Went to late afternoon lunch ate 1 Atkins bar with Water, while my family ate the house down. Came home and my tummy went into a spasm. And I hit the toilet (lol) for about 30 min. I thought my lord i have just lost 10 lbs. (wishful thinking). Anyway, when i got my business done I got on the scale (i think we all do this). Bam the scale gave me a big shock. I have gained 4 lbs. how. I have been losing consistently and now i gained 4 lbs from yesterday. What the heck. What did I do. Help. I am so lost for words. I know today's eating was not good at all but based upon the movies and dinner with family I did not cheat, I did not eat anything that would have caused me to gain 4 lbs.


  4. Guys here I am. Today 240. I am down 9 lbs. Yeah Baby. I have the mindset to do this. I am gonna do this. I do not want to fail. My band does work. I am back tight. Cannot not eat but 1/2 piece baked fish tonight and about 3-4 bites of rice. and Yes the rice got stuck so I excused myself to the bathroom. Sat backdown and finished the 1/2 fish and now I am satisfied. My hubby is sitting over there on the couch right now eating a nutty bar (LOL) and it does not bother me one bit. He is thin and honestly if he did not eat what he ate he would be a skeleton. Oh well, I am on my way, and excited. We can do this.


  5. Okay today was one of them days. Our son was moving and decided today was the day. I only had coffee that was it. 2 glasses of Water until: YES: Starbucks. Sorry but no food, in a hurry, did not want drive thru so again had a smoothie. It held me over until supper. I had Captain D's (baked talapia with rice). Had 1/2 of the fish down had about 2 bites of rice and the rice got stuck. So yes I had to excuse myself to the potty. Went sat back down and ate almost all of the other 1/2 of fish. I know today was bad, bad. Cannot live like this. But I # 1 was not hungry today. # 2 I did weight and I am down 9 lbs. 240. Yes this is wonderful. Tomorrow is another day and I am def. going to have the right foods. Today was hard. Thanks for all the support. Yes I Can Do This in 2011.


  6. I am so glad you were honest. I have seriously said the same thing. This is why I paid out of pocket to make this band keep me from eating. Cause i like you will find a way to get it down.

    Let me start by saying, I am very happy for those of you that this procedure worked for!

    It could be that I had a low BMI and needed to lose only 40-50 pounds which doesn't seem like a lot to some of you but I seriously have battled with my weight the same way as you. Was called fat in grammer school, and by my sister growing up. I am an emotional eater or just say an eater. If I can get it down the pipe I am going to consume more than I need to.

    The only way this band worked for me is by getting it filled tight enough so nothing but liquid could get down and I would vomit every time I would eat. I tried the proper tightness but like I mentioned above If I can get it down I will eat till the cows come home!

    After my band was in and I started to get my fills and I would go back with no success, my doctor would say to me, well are you eating the right food and exercising? I thought to myself, you moran if I could do that I wouldn't need the band now would I?

    So what I am trying to say is this band was NOT a success for me and they should have a forum on that however most of the unsuccessful people are eating right now and don't really care about this forum.

    Again, the only way I was succcessful with the band was to get it filled to the degree only liquid would stay down (and that took a lot of fills to get it just right) and if I did eat I would vomit it back up! Going out on a date was always a disaster, "oh will you excuse me I have a problem with my esphogus" and I would leave the table to go puke. Lukily, I never got to thin where they would suspect bulimia.

    Thank you for reading and I am happy for the ones that are successful!!! My next procedure will probably be the sleeve???? That will be when I can get save up enough money to do it being that I probably spent almost 20K in surgery and fills, etc.

    I would love to hear from anyone that has had the same experience as I have. I do know one thing when I told my doctor I wanted the sleeve he said, I've been hearing that alot!! So be sure this is the right procedure for you.


  7. Thank you all for the input. first of all i choose to eat the oatmeal due to the Fiber helps my bowels move. (i have a bad prob. in that area). 2nd I know that starbucks was bad but dang I was starving and fixing to get groceries and instead of going thru drive thru and getting a burger like i was doing i chose that. (LOL). The Protein Shake that I am making is: Slim Fast HIgh Protein chocolate, 1 tbsp p.nut butter, 1/2 banana 1/2 cup ice and fill the rest with 1% milk. ** I hate skim milk **. I did real good this wknd. I gotta eat more meat (protein). i think in the morning i am gonna start with 1 egg with oatmeal. lunch meat and veggie and supper same. wish me luck and thanks for the support. i need it so bad. i want to get it right this time.

I have posted on here that I hate the band, it does not work, that I have failed, etc. I had some Fluid taken out last april due to too much pbing. heartburn, etc. i was too tight. i was banded 6/07. went from 304 to 217 as of last april. did good first year fair 2nd year 3rd year i really gave up. i went back to eating whatever i wanted. grazing all day, bored eating etc. have gained several, several lbs. and i have to say i really thought that i had stretched my stomach cause i could eat anything and how much i wanted as long as i had my drink to wash it down. as of jan. 16 of this year which is a week ago today. i said enough, everyone is telling me they can tell i have gained weight, tired of looking at the pics of all my friends that did lose it within the first 18 to 24 months. i started eating right again, cut out all my chips, Cookies, icecream, fried foods, homemade cornbread, homemade rolls, etc. no i am not drinking 64 oz Water today just hard to do but i am drinking some water, coffee, tea. i just wanted to see so i did not drink 30 min prior or during eat time. oh yea first day thought no i messed it up. 2nd day thru now, oh yea. back to tight. i am gonna give it my best this time because i know me. i have lost 100 gained 100 many times. i know that if i had not had the band i would be back up to 304. it is hard it sucks that ppl like us cannot eat cookies and chips and ice cream like the thin ppl. it sucks that we will have to eat less calories, carbs, etc. for the rest of our lives. it sucks that my every waking moment is consumed by wanting to be thin. it sucks that i ?? why could i not be one of those ppl that can't eat, enjoy life being normal and not really worry about weight. BUT, I AM NOT. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE FAT GIRL. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE BUTT OF THE FAT JOKES. So I wish you luck, I pray that you find your way. I am on this journey called life and all i can do is try. But I have to admit, sorta proud of myself this week for sticking with it. i have lost 7 lbs. i know water is prob. most of it but it sure feels good to look down and see the scale go down. Dang I hate being fat and I know anyone who has this problem does to.


  9. Hi all, okay. Started eating small again as of this past sunday 1/15/2011. As of today have lost 6.5. YEAH for me. But, I am starving. Today I had oatmeal and coffee (lots), lunch i had 1 slice of cajun turkey 1 pickle, banana pepper, 10 olives and poured a little ranch over it.was satisfied. at 4:30 i was starving, so went to starbucks got their ($4.24) chocolate banana Protein smoothie. hit the spot. tonight i ate talipia, about 2 tbsp of homemade kraut. 1 tsp of banana peppers, 1 pickle with ranch over the fish. i am full and satisfied. I am gonna give this my best again. when u are self pay and it cost $120.00 to get a fill that is needed then i guess i am gonna try this on my own. wish me luck.


  10. OMG!! Congrats. How are you doing it. I was 304 got down to 217 as of last april, had 4cc taken out due to to much vomiting. I have gained back several, i mean several lbs. I went back to eating little sunday. I have lost 6.5 as of today. But, I am starving. What do you eat in an average day.

    I'm almost 2 years out (22 months) and am still going in about every 2 or 3 months. However, I'm still in the losing phase, not maintenance.. so maybe that's different.


  11. Okay tell me this: I have been banded since june 2007.

    What a roller coaster ride this has been! After having surgery on March 31, 2010 I had about six fills and felt nothing! The only thing worse than facing the facts and having major surgery for my weight issues was the feeling I got month after month facing my doctor at the same weight. I honestly thought I was meant to be fat, congratulations Marisa, you have conquered the lap-band!!! It was BEYOND depressing. I hid from my family, that was probably the worst part, people that knew I got it done looked at me like aren't you supposed to be losing weight by now??? It was embarrassing. In my opinion, the only thing worse than being fat was telling people you got a lap-band and STILL being fat!!! I know I wasn't doing much to help i.e. exercise but still I thought maybe just maybe this band could fulfill it's part of the bargain and help me feel full.

    FINALLY my last fill in late September did the trick. What a RELIEF!!!! It sucks to feel that my fat had superpowers and could withstand surgery! Since that fill I have lost 10-15lbs a month and finally got the self esteem to work with my lap band. PHEW! When I got the fill I was a little taken aback. At that point I had completely ignored all the training they give you like small bites, little sips, chew chew chew and eat slowly. I laughed those directions away after the first couple of fills. It took several bouts with the toilet to figure out how to eat properly but I did it!!! Now my main challenge is drinking. I've NEVER been able to get through a meal without drinking, I seriously feel like I've been walking in a desert with out Water for days after only two bites. I still drink too much and have to immediately go to the bathroom to release the liquid but I think I'm getting better. Even without food I still get a little carried away when I drink, I guess I was a gulper all my life and it's a hard habit to break. I'm not complaining though, finally :)

    So here's my advice to all of those that have passed those few fills that were supposed to enact the band but failed...Hang in there!!! Don't get depressed or hide from the doctors, don't read all of these successful posts and get down...wait....and then wait some more..and a little more...and soon you can be posting in this forum with a success story like all the others. Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE UP!!!


  12. Hi all, I had surgery 6/7/2007. Weighed in at 304. Got down to 217. Got sick had 2 cc taken out. Went back to old eating habits. Depression set in. Back up to 240. I have many friends that got to their goal. I ask what do you eat how, when, etc. They all say nothing. I need help. So sick of being fat. So tired of ppl saying "didn't you get lapband", etc. Tired of ppl saying they do not want lapband cause it did not help me. Please just someone, just one person. Could you help me get back on track. Could you tell me how and what to eat, drink and when. I do not know what to do. I had my lapband to its max and I still could eat. I have had test, I have had thyroid test, blood work. xrays, etc. Nothing is wrong. Everything is where it is suppose to be. It is just me. ME. ME. Why can I not be like my friends, why can I not be thin. Why, Why, Why.

    Breakfast : 2 fried eggs, lots of coffee and sugar free hazelnut

    lunch: swanson's canned chicken w/ 2 tbsp dill relish and 1 tbsp. mayo, crystal light sugar free strawberry/banana/orange

    snack: 20 almonds

    supper: 1 fried hamburger, 1 tbsp mayo, 1 oz. jalapeno cheese, 2 vlassic dill spears, 12 oz. hood calorie countdown milk

    if i have a late night snack it will be sugar free Jello

  14. :thumbup:Hi all wanted to let you all know that I did a 4 mile walking video with a group this evening, I have never done this in my life. I am so proud of myself. I will be doing this every other day. Had a good day, lost another 1/2 lb. Now 218.5. My ketose stick is almost a 40%. Here is what I eat:

    Breakfast: 2 fried eggs w/1 tbsp butter, lots of coffee w/sugar free hazelnut

    Lunch: 1 cup of leftover Linda's Low Carb El Darado Casserole, 1 glass of sugar free tea

    snack: about 60 peanuts w/1 glass of sugar free tea

    Supper: 1 cup of fried cabbage in reg oil w/water, and polish sausage (10 slices), 1 glass of sugar free tea

    tonite's snack: sugar free Jello

    total calories right under 1200, carbs 22.

    Come on ya'll, let's keep this posting going. if we hold each other accountable we all can win this war on obesity. it's a new year, we can do this.

    BTW, how in the world can I upload my picture, I have tried and tried and it will not work.

    Breakfast - 2 fried eggs, with 1 slice of hot cheese, lots of coffee with sugar free hazelnut Creamer

    lunch - 1 cup peanuts with ingles brand sugar free tea

    supper - linda's el darado casserole (1 cup) and 1/2 cup sweet peas and sugar free tea

    Go back to work tomorrow, hate the cold here. Hope you all will post with me daily.

    **Bought the pee sticks, and i am 1/2 way on being in ketose.:blush:

  17. i am glad you are also posting. did you have lap band or gastric? i had lapband, and i gained 8 lbs back over the last 6 months. i have 44 more to go to meet goal, i hope it get here by my 3rd year mark. i too am posting my daily meals. is it important to have a certain amount of calories a day? and if so, where can i find the calories amount, Protein, etc.

Hi all I was at 304 june 5, 2007, got down to 218 last year and maintained between 218 and 224, weighed on dec 25, 2009 i was at 228, so i decided this is it, i gotta do this. so i started low carbing (jan 2, 2010) or basically meat and cheese and salads, misc veggies, and nuts. and lots of Water and coffee. cut out my cheetos, oreo Cookies, lindell chocolates, chocolate ice cream, and all other junk food between. LOL. today is jan 7 and i am down to 221, praise God, i gotta do this i spent so much money and there are 4 women here that had it done and they all were at goal after 1 to 1 1/2 year. everyone looks at me and i know what they are thinking. the thing with not drinking 15-30 min prior and 1 hour after really does work. i feel stuck but I know after one hour i can start drinking my water.
