  1. Well you will be on a liquid diet after, You should start the liquids because it will help yoI am so glau so much after surgery. Getting a reduced calroic intake will help you when you are struggling with not getting a what you are getting right now.. I'm so glad that I did the liquids.
  2. Meg you are absolutely right. You have to ask yourself pink why you had this surgery?? This is a tool not a weightloss miracle..I don't want to get on your case. I have been sleeved since Feb 1 and I probably wont eat anything fried anymore period. I really hope you are doing this for your health and not for your vanity. If you eat these foods that you talk about you will regain a lot of your weight back. Sliders put you on a very slippery slope and I reallly don't want you to fall victim of them.. The more slider foods you eat the more you want.. Simple carbs are really reallly terrible for you.
  3. Well you are in a good place to get support. There are a lot of people including me have pretty much the same story..I too have been overweight all my life and finally got the help I need. I will be the first to say that the sleeve is a very good tool for weightloss it is not the cure but it helps you make better eating decesions.. Good luck and please keep us posted.
  4. I think only suck really for about 3 days..It is hard don't get me wrong, but you have to weigh why you are doing the surgery and if it for the right reasons you will have no problems doing it.
  5. For the first couple of day I was taking my pain meds to go to sleep.
  6. You know it is really weird...Things don't taste the same after surgery.. You just don't have the desire to eat cake or anything sweet. You get head hunger but you can get busy and forget to even eat. I though after liquid diet after surgery I was going to be so hungery and eat everything After surgery I didn't want to eat anything..It took me about 4 to 5 weeks before I had any desire for food. When you get further out you will want food that is not good for you, but you have to power to control it and you make the right decesions because you know you cant go down that road anymore. YOu are stronger ,focused and very dedicated to eating the right things. Yes you can get full on things that are not good for you but you will starve your body for what it needs..Protein first and veggies seconds there is not much room for nothing more. It didn't take me long to develop a different relationship with food. The sleeve help you be stronger. It has been a blessing in my life and I am soo thankful that I way able to have it..
  7. Well your doctor is right I would call your surgeon and see if you can move it up a week. I would stay on the liquid diet though. I hate really hate that you are sick and can't go through with the surgery.. You defintely don't want to be sick with the flu post op. It would be really bad on your recovery..good luck and hopefully you will be able to have it quickly..
  8. I was told on average that 1 oz of any meat contains 7 grams of proteins. As far as bean and such I have no idea. Take a look at the Gastric Sleeve Diet by Joseph E. chebli . YOu can search for him on the web or you can search gastric sleeve diet on this forum and it will pull it up. I think it has the protein chart in it.
  9. What if you die being overweight and never see your kids have their kids. This is what made me look at myself and be determined to do this and not to look back ever. You just have to make that first step and never look back.
  10. You need to make sure you are working on your fluids..It is very very important Disney to get your 64 ounces of fluid in. I would worry about your hydration before your protein..You have about a month before you suffer from not getting the protein you need.
  11. I stayed in a recliner for about 5 days. even when you get in bed you may have to put pillows around you so you can sleep in kinda up right postition. It gets better pretty fast though..
  12. Ive been taking protonics since day 1.. You need to be on a ppi it will all the difference..
  13. yep you really need a ppi. It wont stop your acid but it will decrease how much is produced..so far it has been a life saver..Call him and ask him to call ya one in I have been taking them since day one and No problems here at all..
  14. I have been chewing gum since I got home because the breath thing..I don't swallow it though
  15. I cant tell you very much about the plication. My insurance would only cover the sleeve. I know that it is turning your stomach on itself and making it smaller that way. It does not help with the chemical that makes you hungry. When you have the sleeve they cut your stomach out and it also cuts out the region of the stomach that makes the chemical that controls hunger. I think that I made an awesome choice, but there are a couple of people that has the plication here. I do hope they chime in..I think this will help you make your decesion. The biggest thing is to reasearch each of the surgeries extensively and make a decesion based on the knowledge that you find.. I wish you luck my friend in your quest. No matter what decesion you make I think you will be happy with it. I know if I had to do it again I would not hesitate to have the sleeve again..good luck
  16. Congrats!! That is really awesome to hear..Good luck and keep us posted..
  17. Swishing you mouth with water or chewing gum help with the dry mouth..It probably due to them putting you to sleep. It will go away. How is your hrydration going are you getting in 60 plus ounces of water or are you still struggling? You will have a better outlook as days pass. Always remember no matter what you are doing this for yourself as well as your health..
  18. this is so great to hear. That is soo awesome!!
  19. as far as the protein powders have you tried gnc whey bolic amplified extreme 60 in the choclate..I think with out a doubt it probably is one the best protein powders out there. It is not thick If you mix it with milk it tastes just like choclate milk. As far as getting through the last days. Find things that will take you away from food I put puzzles together. Eat a lot of sf jello..between protein drinks I ate a lot of jello!!! I know its crazy but it really did make me fuller.. Any way there are not a lot of ways to make yourself happy about liquids..If you are getting any solid foods than consider yourself very lucky. I had 4 protein shakes a day all the broth, jello, water and sugar free popsicles that I could stomach. I know you hate it right now but after your surgery you will appreciate being on the liquids. It helps reduce your caloric intake and gets your body prepared for the lower amounts of food that is required after sugery. Try to stay focused on the prize and not the food. I stayed in a different room while my family ate.. You will do fine; Just stay focused and keep you head up..Always remember you are doing this for your health and for yourself..
  20. Increase you carb intake by 100 carbs per day. You will put weight on I promise you.. you have to get out of keytosis..if you want your body to go back in maintaining.. Be careful the more carbs you eat the more you will want..I have seen a lot of people backsliding and gaining a lot of weight due to extra carbs..
  21. I had post op dreams no preop though..I dreamed 1 week after sugery that I ate a half a bag of Doritoes and when I woke up I thought I was going to die. It gets really weird after sugery for a couple of weeks.
  22. sadie it is just your muscles healing from the cutting on it..If it turns red and infected looking than I would be concerned..Mine did the same thing but as I get further along the places are getting softer and healing..
  23. The first week I was out for surgery I worked on getting my Water in.. Hydration is soo critical..Try to get your 64 oz of water in(you can do that too with soup broth) At the end of the 1st week I started adding Protein.. You have to understand that your shake if it is made with water counts as water. I took the combined water from the shakes and with all the other liquids I gott for the day to equal 64 ounces. If you get a little more water than thats ok.. this is just my opinion
  24. I have been losing good but my doc did a blood panal on me and my vitamin d was low too.. He prescibed me 5000iu daily..My doc say that the Vitamin d is stored in our fat and when we lose soo much weight the Vitamin d starts to lose its ground in our body and we have to take abundant quanties to get that level up.. I am takining 5000iu of D3 per day to try to increase my vitamin d in my body.. This is the only thing they found in my blood.
