  1. Personally if you're that uncomfortable I would suggest calling your dr. I was banded on the 18th as well and all of my pain and discomfort was gone by Sunday the 20th. I ate some mushies on sunday before I was STARVING after not eating for about 5 days. Monday I had creamy Soups and Jello mixed with greek yogurt for Protein. I have restriction, not sure if it's swelling or if my surgeon put something in my band but I can't seem to eat more than 3-6oz at a time before I get the "full" feeling. I feel full 80% of the time.. I almost have to remind myself to eat. Pre-op I drank 100oz of Water a day, post-op I struggle to get 32 oz down. follow your post-op instructions and call your dr to make sure everything is going well for you.

    Just had to say

That's awesome and I believe the same way. I also prayed and confessed over myself before and after surgery for rapid healing and recovery. It worked because 2 days later I was feeling GREAT, other people who had the surgery the same day or before are still complaining about pains, etc.. like I told my doctor, I'm doin' better than most it seems and I'm good with that lol

    Thinking about major changes

Those of us that find food to be comforting tend to go through this mourning period for our dearly departed or soon to be. Like the ladies above me stated, you're not going to miss out, you're just not going to be able to eat as much and that's the point. I LOVE to cook and I KNOW how you feel about that kitchenaid it's like the master cook's dream gift.. But as you get off of your post-op diet and move into regular foods you'll be able to still bake and eat the things you create, just not as much. And there's also a new culinary realm for you to explore which I am so looking forward to in a few weeks, Gluten-free foods. They have gluten-free everything, pizza, breads, brownies, cookies, etc... and then the fun of changing up recipes and perfecting them using healthier ingredients like 100% whole wheat unbleached flour instead of the standard not good for us and makes us fat bleached flour. I'm excited about the culinary possibilities. Then again I've even made protein shakes fun... You'll still be able to go out for that steak dinner, you just won't be able to eat the whole steak, so maybe you order the 6oz sirloin instead of the 18oz ribeye.. See what I mean? It's all about looking at this in the positive and acting on it. You love to cook, enjoy the process and come up with some new healthy recipes for you that are so delicious your family loves them too.
  8. Not sure if that's because I'm swollen or if my surgeon gave me some restriction with the surgery. But I feel GREAT, no regrets here..anxious to get my surgistrips off so can start with the cocobutter and mederma treatments, cause this time next year I WILL be bare midriff somewhere tropical lol

  9. I do have a "full sensation" it doesn't take much at all for me. As for what I've been eating.. well I got in trouble from my dr's offfice lol.. but it's all been going down fine. I'm supposed to be on clear liquids which I did the first 48 hours then on day 3 I had "mushies" - my family was doing "turkmas" so I took 1/2 teaspoon of mashed potatos, green beans, jello, etc.. and I dipped my spoon into the piles and ate that, all in all I had about 3-3.5 teaspoons of food on my plate and didn't eat 1/2 of it.. I was FULL. I did however have room for pumpkin pie later, but I didn't eat the crust. Then I went to creamy soups and yogurt, jello and a shake here and there just to keep the protein up.

Today I had a zone bar, and broccoli cheese soup and again I'm FULL. Drinking water is the hardest for me. Pre-op I was drinking 100oz of water a day, it takes me about 4 hours to get through 1 16oz bottle of water.

    almost a week post-op....

Wow reading this makes me feel super human or something.. I had surgery at 9:30 am on Friday 12/18 and I was off pain meds completely by Sunday and only used them sparingly since I knew they would slow my intestinal track. I stayed upright from Friday to Sunday night (sleeping in a recliner until monday night) and walked walked walked.. My gas "pain" was gone by Sunday, lil' twinge every now and then in my left shoulder but nothing to take meds or gas-x for. BM came back solid and normal Sunday afternoon. Monday I ventured out, worked and shopped, I could tell I overdid it but I came home and relaxed. Sleeping in bed helped, I woke up this morning feeling about 98%... I have a strong belief in natural healing and that your body is it's own best medicine. Gas-x much like cold medicine just prolongs the problem. Subdues the symptoms but doesn't "cure" it. I used gas-x the first day and half but I realized it needed to come out. Once I stopped using it and just walked it quickly went away. Don't get me wrong, I'm still gassy but not gross and uncomfortable or in pain. Listen to what your body is telling you, you'll hear what it needs. I'm supposed to be on Clear liquids, my body told me "ok but add some food in there" and I did and I've been fine. My follow up calls with the doctor, they were impressed with how well I'm doing, though upset I wasn't adhering to the post-op diet; they can't say too much because of how well I'm doing (down 32lbs as well, including pre-op diet). As for Vitamins I'm taking Disney princess gummies 4 of them. The bottle says 2 (even for adults) but I figure I can use the extra since my food and Protein intake is down. They taste good, a lil' too good. I had to remind myself they were vitamins and not candy. But the gummies are fine, they'll disolve just like Jello. Also I add a lil' greek yogurt to everything, if I'm eating jello, I mix it in, broth, etc... it's so high in protein. The Fage 0% has 20grams of protein the violka something brand has 24grams. Between that and the chicken salad I've been craving I've been keeping my protein up which is one of the most important things at this stage. I hope this helps.. maybe it's the 5 yrs of research I did prior to doing this, or the fact that I just listen to my body, but I'm doing better than most and I'm glad of that. If you or anyone has any questions I can help you with, please feel free to ask.
  11. I'm feeling great my new friend.. expecting 100% tomorrow.. how did it go for you? What part of AZ are you in? I used true results scottsdale, you?

    Banding, Good Drugs and Turkmas!

OMGoodness Tanya that's exactly what I'm going through.. eating the liquids I'm like but I'm still hungry, (i'm SO not) but like right now I think I overate with my 6 oz of 1/2 broth 1/2 cream of chicken soup and then a jello cup with some greek yogurt mixed in for protein. I keep looking at the clock like is it time to eat yet? Is it time to eat yet? LOL... but I ended up eating 1/2 of a zone protein bar because I was craving something sweet. I'm feeling "extra" full right about now.. but I'm sitting here like hmmm I could go for another jello.. NO, No I can't... I need to stop the mental hunger because physically I'm SO not. We'll work it out Tanya.. we'll work it out.. I'll add you as a friend, Keep in touch, we'll figure it out together! lol
  13. Today is day 4, I did entirely too much. My port incision feels tight and pulled like I may have done something to myself. Could have been when the cart rolled into me, could have been the pants, either way.. I will rest up for the rest of the day. Today I woke up and had yogurt for breakfast, that kept me full, but I decided I needed a protein shake to go all day. When I got home from my moms, I did some work, and got dressed. I put on the loosest but still cute and professional outfit I could find, luckily for me I work from home for the most part but I did have appointments out today. I made my shake to go and went off to my first appointment. Everything was fine until I had to follow him, he walked what seemed to me as "REALLY FAST" normally I keep up with him no problem. But I could feel my stomach tightening, gas? pain? pulling? dunno.. just make a joke so he'll slow down.. joke joke, ok I got nothing.. Sorry if I can't keep up with you today, just had surgery. "Oh ok" he says as if I had just said there was paper in the fax machine.. like umm ok.. awkward but whatever... Finish with him and on to the next, I walk into the building and the smelll makes me nauseated.. umm ok gotta go... back to my car, driving driving driving.. trusty shake by my side.. wait sitting sitting sitting, but these are my big pants, why are they digging into me right there.. ahhh ok there we go.. Whole Foods, they have the BIG thing of Fage yogurt on sale for 6.99... yogurt got it, wait what's this brand it has 24 grams of protein, WOW.. hmmm ok.. let me try this one too, oh what else do they have.. An hour later.... on to the next place. By the time I'm driving to the next place I'm nauseated from the gas pressure and I think I just did too much, lifting a grocery bag, walking around for an hour, etc.. but I still need some groceries.. Let me go to the store on the way home. I get to my street.. I think I can..I think I can.. I go straight instead of turning, I pull into the parking lot and I sit in the car feeling wiped out but trying to psych myself up.. wait what do I even need again? Oh that's right SOUP! I walk in, as normal as I could and see the motorized cart, I jump in, screw it, I need it.. MEEP MEEP! I get my shopping done with ease, but I bought too much, how am I gonna get this home? sigh.. I drive the cart out to my car, put the items in the front seat. Go to drive the cart back into the store and it stalls going up the lil' incline and pushes the full force/weight of it onto my stomach.. OUCH.. the guy from inside comes from outside to help, and he yells at his female co-worker who is standing less than a foot from me, for not helping me. I don't necessarily agree with HOW he said it, but i'm glad he said it so I didn't have to. I come home and pull out the light things, the rest can wait.. inside groceries put away as much as possible, pants off.. ahhhh hmm I'm hungry... WOW that was the BEST cream of chicken and mushroom soup I've ever had in my whole life.. I would hurt someone for some pizza right now.. I don't even like pizza.. but I do like the crust.. mmmm Soup.. delicious.. couple hours later, I wasn't hungry but because I knew it was in there I had some chicken salad.. I wanted to see how it went down, how hard it was to chew, etc.. all in all I had about 1 tablespoon of it, maybe a lil' less. Went down well, tasted even better... tomorrow I'll eat that.. tonight is my first night home, my first night sleeping in a bed, I layed on my bed at my moms but it was too high and hard to get up and down from, the couch, too cushy, the recliner, just right... so I stayed and slept in that recliner 95% of the time.. So now I'm in bed laying on my side.. wanting to roll onto my stomach and just SLEEP a good sleep.. on the upside NO pain meds today, all systems are GO and now I'm just tuckered out.. so with that I will say good night world. :cursing:

Day 4, pants, work and the shopping trip.

Gas-x comes in strips now like the listerine breath strips. It just disolves on your tongue. I was able to take my BP med and everything else has either been liquids or gummies. No medicine larger than the size of a baby asprin. My BP meds are that size so I'm good. Before you go into surgery you should get a RX from your surgeon prescibing liquid loritab or something similar.

    6 Months

    WOW congratulations on the 100lbs!
  16. How's it goin' band buddy? I feel good, just a lil' tender at incisions and very slight gas pain in my left shoulder but other than those minimal issues everything is GOOD! Hope you're doing the same!

    Backsliding Bander

In my Dr's office, you can get a fill every two weeks unless you have a problem or reach your sweet spot.

I've been a bad, bad girl....

So Diane from True Results calls me today to follow up on how I'm doing. I tell her I think I'm doing great and seem to be doing better than most. We go over incisions, etc... she agrees. Then she says do you have any questions. So I say well yes actually I do, why is it I'm supposed to be be on liquids when I can eat things like chicken salad as long as I chew it up. Her normally friendly up beat voice changes into this motherly tone "Now Yvette, we went over this, you don't want anything to get stuck, you're still swollen and you don't know what will happen." "Ok ok, but I was reading on lapbandtalk.com and other people..." she stops me short - "This isn't about other people it's about YOU so you need to do what your doctor told YOU to do. If you want to be on full liquids fine, but don't go eating any meat or vegetables" she says sternly. "So you're saying I probably shouldn't be eating cream of chicken and mushroom soup together?" - Silence on the phone. "Hello".... "Yvette we've been over this, no meat, no vegetables and NO chicken salad!" Sigh.... Mmmm yogurt!

    SpAnX!?!?!?!

Try the Delta Burke shapewear, I tried googling to give you links and didn't really come up with one, but I know JC Penny's carries it I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the control it gives even though you feel like you're wearing nothing. If you have one near you go check, I just happened upon them one day walking through the store to get to the mall, at 9.99 I'm SO happy I did.
  21. Hey new friend! So far so good, day 5, feeling good. Lil' gas pain in my shoulder but other than that doing well. Just be prepared to spend an hour longer than you should at TR for your appointments. The staff is nice and once you're in you're in and out pretty quick, but there's alot of sitting around and waiting. You'll see cheaper by the dozen and that other movie over and over and over again lol.. Other than that no real complaints. The surgeon, Dr. Nirmul is good and has a great personality. Dr. Suhoni-Skinner will be who you see most of the time, she's friendly as well once she warms up to you. I didn't do the consult/seminar with them. I'd attended so many of them over the last 5 yrs I knew what it was and just wanted to proceed. Just stick to it, find out what your insurance requires and you'll be banded in no time! :)

  22. Hey Dusty! just checkin' in on ya! Hope all went well!

  23. Yvette1026

    After careful consideration...

I've decided In-n-out protein style with no cheese or spread is on my pre-op diet. Ofcourse I didn't think to remove the cheese or spread until after.. but that's ok...I'm still good with it. That will be all.

    Need Dr. advice...

couldn't agree more, I'm using true results too and there's days I would just want to go off on certain people. But in my TR office, there's a doctor who does your fills, she's not your surgeon, just the doctor and all she does is fills talk to you about your weightloss. The office here in Scottsdale is very small and you can easily call your surgeon at any time. - It could be the location though because I've heard so stories about other cities.
  25. could be swelling, could be hormonal, could be that your body is storing due to you being sick not too long ago. 4lbs could be a multitude of things, check with your Dr and see what they think. You mentioned Portion Control but are you still working out? If so it could be muscle mass, or if could be lbs put on from not exercising like you should. Too many variables here to be able to say.
