  1. I'm very impressed with your successes. I've been banded since December 2009, and I'm down 56 pounds. I've been sick with the seasonal nasty cold for about 3 weeks. I'm feeling much better this week, but my stomach is really bothering me. I have what feels like lots of gas pain and some diarrhea and some hellacious heartburn which I have not had in the past. Sorry, if TMI, but I just wanted to get your take on what could be going on. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

  2. Ladies,

Are you suffering with extreme tightness during that time of the month? Yesterday I got stuck on some baked Beans I chewed very good and the bite wasn't very big. It hurt like crazy and would not go down so it had to come back. Since then I have some real pain right around the small incision at the top. Today, I am very tight and still some pain, just wondering if I might have pulled something when it came back.

  3. Hello December Delights,

It's been a while since I've posted, and I hope that you are all doing well and looking forward to warm weather. I most certainly am. I've had some success since my last post. I had previously been too tight, but that has been corrected and I've even had a fill since then. I went to a support group meeting at my doctors office earlier this month and felt a little disappointed about my weight loss compared to some of the others. There was one lady who had lost 78 lbs since her surgery in November. I have only dropped 25 since my surgery in December. I was thinking "Man, I must be doing something wrong". However, I have come to the conclusion that everyone is different and losing at my own pace is fine, as long as I get to my goal. It might take me a little longer, but I'm ok with that. I am down 8 pounds since my last fill, which was about 3 weeks ago (around the time of the support meeting). I've started setting a walking goal for myself each week, usually 25 miles and then I either hit the road or walk at home with the "walk away the pounds" DVD. I'm up to 5 miles a day and oh so excited about it. I also try to do zumba twice a week at the gym. I feel very motivated and will do what I have to do to reach my goals. It is very nice to have you guys to reach out to for support and I'd like to thank each of you who have responded when I really needed help. Hugs to all of you!!!

  4. I've noticed in the past 2 months before my period, I am nauseous, have some serious bowel episodes and have a lot of pain on the left side of my abdomen. Anyone else having similar issues since being banded?

  5. Well, it's been 2 weeks since my first fill and now it feels like I never had one. The doc said he put 5cc in and I felt restricted the first week. Now, not so much at all. Today, I've been hungry all day since I'm on some sort of PMS rollercoaster, and although I've made healthier choices than I would have in the past, I feel like a bottomless pit. Just needing some encouragement, I guess. Hope all is going well for all of you.

  6. Me too! Let me know how yours goes and how many cc's you get.

    Good luck:thumbup:

The fill was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I had myself all worked up over it. I got 5cc today and was able to drink the Water they gave me before I left. I had some water since then and it must have been too much because it came right back up. I guess, I'm gonna have to learn how much I can eat/drink all over again. I'm on liquids for the rest of today, but can start back with regular stuff gradually tomorrow. I hope everything went ok for you!!! Let me know.

  7. Hey Kim, It sounds more like youre getting sick since you say youve followed the plan and are eating. Do you have a fever? I havent been nauseous at all.

Thanks and i think you might be right. I don't have a fever, but I feel like I would feel so much better if I could just throw up, but I can't. I tried last night and I had this huge burp that I didn't think it would ever end. No food or anything came up, though. I go back to work today, so we'll see how that goes. I'm gonna call the dr when I get to the office and see if what he has to say. Thanks for the response. I really appreciate it!!!

  8. Hi and I hope all my fellow December Bandsters are doing well. I am hoping that some of you can give me some advice or let me know your experiences. I have been feeling nauseous since I woke up this morning (nope I'm not pregnant...lol) and it is getting worse as the evening goes on. I have been suffering with gas and diarrhea since before my surgery, but I'm drinking a lot, so I don't think I'm dehydrated. Is this something that is considered normal or should I be worried? I have my first post op appointment on the 6th. I posted this in both the December Bandsters and here to make sure I got it in the right place. Are we just using this one now?

  10. Hello all. I'm 9 days post op and HUNGRY. I had some pureed chili yesterday and it was very good, although I have to say it filled me full of gas. I noticed today when I weighed myself that I had gained 2 lbs since surgery and must admit that I can't seem to drink as much as I used to at all. I was wondering if this is normal. Hope you are all doing well and that you had a wonderful Christmas!!!

  11. Well it is finally here...this afternoon I will become a December Bandster...anyone else having their procedure the week before Christmas too? Love to have someone to check in with and help support. I am nervous and excited.

I'm praying all will go smoothly for you today. I got my band on Friday the 18th. I haven't had too many problems, just some pain in my shoulder. The heating pad and walking around the house was awesome for that. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!

  12. I'm officially Banded!!!!!! Surgery was yesterday morning. Everything went fine. I got there at 7 am and was home by 1:30 pm. I'm very sore and my left shoulder feels like someone took a baseball bat to it, but the heating pad works wonders for that. I am so thankful to God and to all of the support on this site. Now the real jouney begins.

  13. It's 5:50 AM here. I'm getting my daughter ready for school, sending her to the neighbor's, and then I'm heading to the hospital. I have to be there at 7. I'm surprisingly calm this morning. Good luck to all of you Dec 18 bandsters and to the rest of you who are nearing surgery.

  14. Well December Bandsters,

I'm on my last day of pre op diet and tomorrow is the BIG day. I guess I've been too hungry and focused on the diet for the last 10 days, because I haven't been nervous until today. I'm very anxious and quite a bit nervous. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm on the PMS wagon, as well. I have to be at the hospital @ 7 a.m and surgery is @9. :)

  15. TODAY IS MY DAY....everything we do takes courage, and faith. getting into our cars and out on the road takes courage and faith, and so does eating food, since we do not know if it will poison us. This is not differenet...I am just full of courage today and ready to step into that new realm of existence.

I have surgery in about seven hours, and I just realized that not only are we all starting a new life by the end of the year, but we are starting a new decade!!! May we all have successful surgeries and may The Lord guide the hands of our surgeons.

May we be rgateful for our blessings, and may our families be calmed from their fears. May we become lights to those around us and surely goodness and mercy will follow us. Psalm 23

Love to everyone...you'll be seeing LESS of me! heh heh

    Sara

Good Luck to you today. I pray that it is smooth sailing for you. My day is tomorrow.

  16. I'm on day 6 of the pre- op diet. Yesterday and today have been really hard days. I'm just feeling hungry. I want to chew something crunchy or taste something spicy. My stomach is making all kinds of noises, like the liquid is sloshing around or something. I have my surgery on Friday and lord have mercy it needs to hurry up and get here. Pray for me!!!

  17. This is going to sound terrible, but I really have not cooked very much since starting my liquid diet on Tuesday (12/8). My surgery is on the 18th. I have a 10 year old and she is very microwave savvy and loves salads. She has been eating a different lean gourmet or lean cuisine with a veggie steamer, and salad for dinner.. Luckily, she's decided she likes the carnation instant breakfast that I have for breakfast and has been having one of those for breakfast. For lunch, she makes a sandwich, fruit Snacks, bottle Water, and go-gurt to take to school every day. Along with getting myself on a healthier track, I'm trying to make sure she understands that even after mommy has her surgery, we are going to continue to eat healthy for the both of us. Hope this helps.

  18. Sweet Pete and Big Momma,

I so feel your pain. Today is day 3 of the pre op diet for me and I can only have the broth, Jello, SF pops and SF pudding or low fat yogurt. It is really hard. Last night I dreamed out eating. Not sure if that is normal, but I did. Woke up with the worst dry mouth ever. Drinking a lot, but running to the bathroom a lot, too. Hang in there, I just keep telling myself it is worth it!!!!
