In just 6 short days, I will have been banded for 6 months. I feel like December 18, 2009 was kind of a rebirth for me and a lease on a new life. If I had to do it over again...I would. I'm down 46 pounds. My goal is 50 by the 6 month mark. There's still time. I am ever so grateful to all of my lapband talk friends, especially the December Delights. I feel like I've always had your support and enjoy ever second I spend reading your blogs, and posts.
  2. Every month I have the same issue. I can keep things down, but I can eat very little. It's like the band tightens up around that time every month. I have asked the girls in my support group and none of them have this issue. I thought it was just me. Just know you are not alone with this one.
  3. I've noticed in the past 2 months before my period, I am nauseous, have some serious bowel episodes and have a lot of pain on the left side of my abdomen. Anyone else having similar issues since being banded?
  4. Hi and I hope all my fellow December Bandsters are doing well. I am hoping that some of you can give me some advice or let me know your experiences. I have been feeling nauseous since I woke up this morning (nope I'm not pregnant...lol) and it is getting worse as the evening goes on. I have been suffering with gas and diarrhea since before my surgery, but I'm drinking a lot, so I don't think I'm dehydrated. Is this something that is considered normal or should I be worried? I have my first post op appointment on the 6th.
  5. You can get the card by joining my lapband journey at lapbband.com. The informational packet my dr gave me had a temporary one and a card to fill out and mail for a permanent one. I mailed mine and it came back because I forgot to fill something out on it. You have to know what size band you have.
  6. I'm praying all will go smoothly for you today. I got my band on Friday the 18th. I haven't had too many problems, just some pain in my shoulder. The heating pad and walking around the house was awesome for that. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!
  7. I'm officially Banded!!!!!! Surgery was yesterday morning. Everything went fine. I got there at 7 am and was home by 1:30 pm. I'm very sore and my left shoulder feels like someone took a baseball bat to it, but the heating pad works wonders for that. I am so thankful to God and to all of the support on this site. Now the real jouney begins.
  8. It's 5:50 AM here. I'm getting my daughter ready for school, sending her to the neighbor's, and then I'm heading to the hospital. I have to be there at 7. I'm surprisingly calm this morning. Good luck to all of you Dec 18 bandsters and to the rest of you who are nearing surgery.
  9. Well December Bandsters, I'm on my last day of pre op diet and tomorrow is the BIG day. I guess I've been too hungry and focused on the diet for the last 10 days, because I haven't been nervous until today. I'm very anxious and quite a bit nervous. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm on the PMS wagon, as well. I have to be at the hospital @ 7 a.m and surgery is @9.
  10. Good Luck to you today. I pray that it is smooth sailing for you. My day is tomorrow.
  11. I'm on day 6 of the pre- op diet. Yesterday and today have been really hard days. I'm just feeling hungry. I want to chew something crunchy or taste something spicy. My stomach is making all kinds of noises, like the liquid is sloshing around or something. I have my surgery on Friday and lord have mercy it needs to hurry up and get here. Pray for me!!!
  12. That would be carnation instant breakfast. It's on my list of allowed liquids, although it must be sugar free. It tastes like nestle quick to me.
  13. This is going to sound terrible, but I really have not cooked very much since starting my liquid diet on Tuesday (12/8). My surgery is on the 18th. I have a 10 year old and she is very microwave savvy and loves salads. She has been eating a different lean gourmet or lean cuisine with a veggie steamer, and salad for dinner.. Luckily, she's decided she likes the carnation instant breakfast that I have for breakfast and has been having one of those for breakfast. For lunch, she makes a sandwich, fruit snacks, bottle water, and go-gurt to take to school every day. Along with getting myself on a healthier track, I'm trying to make sure she understands that even after mommy has her surgery, we are going to continue to eat healthy for the both of us. Hope this helps.
  14. Good luck KellU25. You'll be in my thoughts today.
  15. Sweet Pete and Big Momma, I so feel your pain. Today is day 3 of the pre op diet for me and I can only have the broth, jello, SF pops and SF pudding or low fat yogurt. It is really hard. Last night I dreamed out eating. Not sure if that is normal, but I did. Woke up with the worst dry mouth ever. Drinking a lot, but running to the bathroom a lot, too. Hang in there, I just keep telling myself it is worth it!!!!
  16. Finally, I got my surgery date. 12/18/09. My Dr requires that I have a scope to see if I have a hiatal hernia. I'm having that on Monday, starting the 10 day pre op diet on Tuesday and then pre admission testing on Friday the 11th. I'm excited and yet now I'm nervous about the whole thing.
  17. I'm very happy to say that I have my pre op visit tomorrow and am tentativley scheduled for 12/21. I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time. Don't know what to expect from the pre op diet, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I'm wishing all of you the best of luck in your journey.
  18. I have my pre op tomorrow @ 9 and start the preop diet after that. Dr's office say 12/18 should be the day. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
  19. Congratulations and I hope all has gone well today.
  20. My surgeon sent in all the necessary documentation to my insurance the week of 11/9, last week my insurance said they never received it. I called the Dr's office, and they said they had spoken with someone from the insurance and that it was still with Medical review. So, yesterday I call the Dr's office to see if they've heard anything, and they said the insurance requested an additional form. Called the insurance and they said they had just received information from the dr for the first time on 11/23, however outpatient lapband does not require pre-auth. Well, I know that it does require it and know people at my job who've gone through the process and have the same surgeon and received preauthorization. I feel like I've waited forever while meeting all of the other requirements (6 months medically supervised diet, psych eval, nutritionist appointment). I just really want to know where I stand so that I can move forward in the process. I'm very frustrated at the moment. Any advice?
  21. :smile2:Thanks meldlc37. I have Carefirst BCBS. I appreciate you taking the time to answer me.
  22. Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I'm patiently, well not so patiently, awaiting my insurance approval. I've been through the 6 months of medically supervised weight loss, had my psych evaluation, been to the nutritionist and all that jazz. My Dr has sent everything to the insurance and it's been about a week. Anyone know how long it takes for the review process?
