  1. Happy 55th Birthday matilda01!

  2. Happy 54th Birthday matilda01!

  3. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary matilda01!

  4. Hi Matilda, how are you doing? Hope everything is ok with you. I have lost 58lb so far and I am ok with that. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

    Take care x

  5. Hi Fiona! How are you? Sorry about not checking in for so long. Life gets in the way of my computer habit! I hope you are doing OK. Slow and steady for me....down 20 lb since surg and a total of 52 since my initial visit with the surgeon. I'm supposed to have my 2nd fill on 6/11, probably will only get a small one. I'm so afraid of those stuck episodes everyone talks about. I've already PB'd twice because I ate too fast. The second time it happened, I was PB'ing for 45 minutes! Didn't hurt really, just glad I was at home and not out in public! I am feeling pretty good overall and hope you are, too.

  6. Wow, 30 pounds in a month! You're really doing well. I just hit 52 pounds down since my first visit with Dr. Gandhi in Nov. The fill was very easy actually. He numbed the area and even though it took him a couple of minutes to get the needle into the port, it didn't hurt, just felt odd. We were talking the entire time and I wasn't scared at all. I found out that he had left 3.5 cc in the band at surgery. He asked me how I felt about going to 5.5 and was a I ready....I said go for it. I do notice a difference. I'm not sure it's restriction, but I get this "tight" feeling if I eat too fast or don't chew enough. Once I even PB'd (burped lots with food coming back up). Now I really try to avoid that. I had the blues right after surg, too. Just keep plugging along and try to get outside in the nice weather. It does help. I promise you, you're going to feel better!

  7. Hi Robin,

How are you doing? I don't know if I told you this, but I work at RGH, so I hope you had a positive experience there! Did you stay in that tiny private room on 4500? That's where I stayed and so did my friend who was banded a week after me. I'm down 50 lb (including my preop loss), so I'm pretty happy. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and it went very well. I really notice a difference, and I need to careful to remember to chew lots & eat slowly. Well, I'm here if you have any questions or just want to chat....

  8. Hi Robin, How are you doing on your preop diet? Did you call your doctor about your sugars? I just wanted to make sure you're doing okay.

  9. Hi Robin,

Not sure what to tell you about your sugars, maybe you should call the surgeon's office today and let them know what's going on there. Maybe they will add another Atkins drink or have other suggestions for you. As far as the surgery goes, you will be fine. I was nervous, too, but I was determined to go through with it and I'm so glad I did. After surgery, remember to walk as much as you can because it REALLY helps with the gas pain. The first few days aren't much fun but not unbearable at all. Feel free to email me with any questions, and I will try to help. Where are you having your surgery again?

  10. Hello Matilda,

So my surgery is Mon May 10th. I am excited, scared and just realized I am registered here for support, maybe it was time to use it! Seems you doing well. Any tips to share? I am getting my bag packed, and getting things ready for after hospital stay. I am having trouble with my blood sugars, stopped meds, cut insullin in half and still crashing! Akins shakes 3 times a day pre-op is causing it to all go haywire! Trying to keep working around the hunger is rough. But 1 step at a time. Keeping my mind busy helps. Happy Friday! ~Robin

  11. Hi Matilda so great to hear from you! 45.1lb is fantastic! You must be feeling the difference now. I had my fisrt fill on the 23rd April. I could only manage liquid for a week but didnt lose any weight in that week in fact I gained 4lb! But I am eating small amounts now and fingers crossed the weight will start to come off. I am VERY nervous though. I have still only lost 32lb which is only 14lb post op. I hope it starts moving this week and I have upped the exercise so that should help. Some things have got stuck but its mainly because I didnt chew enough. Its hard to remember to slow down but you soon get a reminder. The full feeling is very different to pre band isnt it? I havent tried chicken yet but will do today. Good to hear you are doing well, take care x

  12. Hi Fiona! I'm doing well. My first fill is Thurs, 5/06. I've been losing a little bit, down 45.1 total (13.1 since surg). I wasn't feeling any restriction really, but I am starting to get little signals when I eat that I need to slow down, chew more, or just stop eating. I get kind of a fullness in my esophagus sometimes. It seems to happen with chicken (especially if it's dry). I think I read that you had your first fill...how's that going?

  13. Hi Matilda how are you? How is the weight loss going? Are you restricted, eating and losing? Would love to hear how you are doing.

    Three-week bandiversary!

It's my 3-week bandiversary today. I saw my surgeon on Friday, and he said I could start on pureed foods, so I went home and scrambled a couple of eggs with low-fat American cheese. I realized that was probably too much to eat at one time, so I only ate half. It was delicious! He said to stick to things like yogurt, scrambled eggs, etc., for the first 4-6 days, then move to things like refried beans, chili, etc. In the few days since I started pureed food, I've gained 2 lb. What the heck? I'm logging my food intake on Livestrong.com (I love that Web site!) and never go over about 550 calories in a day. Yesterday was the first day I was able to get in 60 grams of protein. It's pretty hard to get all the protein in when I'm not eating much. He did say to supplement with protein shake if needed. I got rid of all the leftover Easter candy...way too tempting for me! I went back to work on Saturday and Sunday and had no problems, didn't even get tired. I just work at my computer all day anyway (I transcribe medical reports for a hospital). Going to take my dog for a couple of long walks today...time to get some real exercise in. No more dreams about food!
