  1. Today is day one of Liquid diet. I am hanging in here so far, but while at work all I can smell is everyone else's lunch. I am tracking my intake on Livestrong.com. Off to get some soup.! Mel
  2. If I ever see a Lane Bryant again it will be too soon. I can't wait to be able to shop at any store instead of just one.
  3. Lori, I am having mine in Charlotte. Not too far away. Mel
  4. Good Luck to everyone getting banded this week. Would love to hear how things go. I start my pre-op liquid diet on Thursday. I cleaned out my pantry yesterday. Got rid of all the things I can't have and made a shelf for just my foods (i.e. protein powder and soup). I ended up going with all flavors of Unjury protein except the strawberry (smells like amoxicillin). I got the strawberry from Chike instead. I am not looking forward to this. I am getting my last pizza tonight. I have a lot of people supporting me though. Everyone at work knows what I am doing and will support me 100%.
  5. I thing you meant 11/18. That is the same day as mine. I don't start my pre-op diet until 11/4.
  6. I also have PCOS and will be banded in 3 weeks, I haven't been able to get pregnant on clomid and IUI, so thats why I decided on the Lap-Band, I am 32, just turned last week, and I really don't want to wait much longer.
  7. Good luck with getting your date. It is a good date. It is also my date!
  8. Thanks! And to all, My name is Melissa, but my friends call me Mel. I will try to sign my post :-)
  9. I am also giving myself a birthday gift, as my b-day is tomorrow!
  10. Welcome to everyone! Dave sorry to here your surgery got push back. Hang in there. Deb, I am from MA. Grew up in Attleboro. Boston is probably one of the best place to have any surgery. Good luck to you fellow New Englander! So yesterday I swung by the dr office and picked up my 200 page journey to wellness book. In it is everything I need to know pre-op and post-op. I started making notes last night. I was comparing to things I have read by others on these boards. I have 2 weeks liquid only diet, keeping it under 1000 calories. After surgery the first day is clear liquids one medicine cup every hour. Do you know how small a medicine cup is. I looked at it this morning. It is measured in tsp! The second day I can go to all liquids and 2 cups an hour. By the end of my 2nd week I should be up to 4 cups every hour plus 2 cups of protein for 60g a day. I also picked up some protein powder samples. Want to try my options before committing to a huge tub of it. I have tried the Chike about a month ago and really liked that. Yesterday I tried one from GNC called AMP, but didn't like that. Today is Strawberry Unjury. I like and think I could handle it for several weeks. I also picked up the unflavored and will try that in soups. I have to figure this all out by the 4th when I start my liquid diet. How is everyone else doing?
  11. Thanks for that info. This is the first time I am hearing about this.
  12. Michelle, You signature has something about your fill failing cause of a flipped port. What does that mean and how was it fixed?
  13. 8 months, 3 days I went to the seminar on March 15th. I had already decided I was doing it before going and was able to make my first appointment that night. I went through all of the testing and meetings, but I moved during the process. Because of the move, my insurance changed, from Tricare Prime North to South. I had to go through the whole approval process again. My PCP was great and worked hard to get me approved. I got my approval two weeks ago and on Monday (the 11th) I scheduled my surgery for Nov 18th (would have been the 11th, but my husband is gone for Military training and won't be back until the 14th). I start my liquid diet on the 4th, and I'm not looking forward to that. Mel
  14. I have been getting the same grief. My husband even asked me if I was still going to cook Thanksgiving dinner...for him of course cause I will still be on liquids. I would rather start now then to gain the 10 pounds over the holidays.
  15. John, How did you like the AMP? I bought a sample packet last week and will try it tomorrow. I got Vanilla as that was all they had. Did you like one flavor over another? There are so many choices and I just wish the was only one.
  16. Dave, I have Tricare Prime also. South region here. I had some issues with getting my approval, but only because I moved from NC (North Region) to SC (South region) in the middle of the process. I had to go through some hoops, but once everything was submitted, I was approved the same day. Make sure you follow it online and you will have your approval show there before you know any other way.
  17. Hey all. I just signed up today for this message board. Came across while researching Protein Shakes. And boy are there a lot out there. I start my liquid diet on the 4th. I am looking for anybody's thoughts. jessistt - I am also having my banding done on the 18th, got my appoint day on Tuesday. Was so happy! dmmjtj - I am from MA, but currently live in SC.
