    Core Workout and Jogging Suggestions/Advice

It sounds like you are doing great. I would only suggest that you get your surgeon's authorization to move on. I was banded on 10/30. I am not allowed to do sit ups, or anything related to belly exercises. I want to get to the stage you are. Being 36 years older than you, might be the difference. Good luck. Kll724:thumbup:
  5. Hi Cat lady,

My insurance com would not approve me until I had gone on 6 month diet. They want to see that I have tried to loose weight at least 3 x and can follow diet. I ahd to see a nutritionist and a psychiatrist, too. But finally after 6 month diet, I was approved. It has been 5 weeks since my surgery on 10/30. It is another tool. Just know that the lapband is not a miracle worker. You need to make a commitment, too. You can do it, if you want to. Best wishes. Kll724

    Banded Oct 30, 2009

Hi Linda, I, also, was banded on Oct. 30. I haven't lost a lot of weight since my banding. But, I have lost 46 lbs since my pre-op diet started back in April. I was one of the folks that had to diet for 6 months before my insurance company would approve me. Nice to meet you. I am happy to have another person banded on the same day as me to take this venture and new life turn with. Please feel free to contact me whenever you want to talk. Karen:thumbup:
  7. Hi, I was banded on Oct 30. I had some pain, but a lot of gas. My surgeon advised to walk...I walked around the hospital ward about 8-9 times in the 24 hrs I was there. I advised my anesthesiologist that I get nauseated from some meds, so they gave me something for it before surgery. By far, for me, the worst pain was gas. But, I did use pain meds for 2 days following surgery to ward off pain. Everyone is different, just as all hospital stays are different. My stay was pleasant; my daughter, who had her lapband on 11/20, same hospital, was unpleasant. Good luck, and have confidence that you are going to do well. A good attitude is important. Karen

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Didn't cook this year. I had my surgery on 10/30 and my daughter had her's on 11/20. So, we did not want ot fix or eat a big meal. The 8 of us, Dh,DD & her Dh and 2 kids, Ds and his Dw all went out to dinner. We brought home 6 doggie bags of food and 8 deserts that came with the meal. I udsed teh bread plate to eat my dinner. I have not had a fill, so I had to keep myself eating small amounts. But..I was plenty full after the small palte of food, and have enough for at least 2 more meals! Oh, Happy Thanksgiving to all. MAy we all have less to be thankful for nest year!

    New 60+ Thread

Happy birthday, Phyl. I finally found this 60's and older thread. I've been on the 50's and older. Today is, also, my daughter-in-law's birthday. My Thanksgiving plans are to go to a resturaunt that serves a Thanksgiving meal. I had my band on 10/30, and my daughter was banded on 11/20. Also, my son has celiac desease. So, I decided that no one needs or wants to eat the left overs. So, only left overs will be doggie bags from food not eaten by the ladies who have been banded. Well, have a great Thanksgiving day, I for one, have a lot to be thankful for this year. But,hopefully, a lot less to be thankful for next year. Karen

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, Karen here. Started my work outs, yesterday. I can't do anything with stomach, but can do arms and legs. Feel okay, after 1 hr workout. I am getting ready to go out to the gym, now. Have a great day, and good to hear from you folks.
  11. Congrats on your success, I am just starting this journey as I had my Lapband on 10/30/09. Jeans with zipper and no stretch is a real goal. Halleluia. :tongue_smilie:
  12. my daughter has United Health care. She got approval like in 2 weeks, she put it off due to gall bladder surgery. But she is back on track and got pre-approval again in 2 weeks.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Yes, head hunger, I can agree there. I hate watching even Mc D's commercials. I love french fries. So far I have been good, even on my pre-op. I don't think I ever really noticed all the food commercials. And, I might not cook on Thanksgiving. Might let the supermarket cook for me. I had a coupon that was sent to my daughter-in-law, she has gotten fat at size 6. Anyway, she wasn't using it, and my daughter wanted to go out. So, the lady there measured me, and I was a 38DD. I started at 44 d. And, I was able to get a pair of free panties, too!!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

:thumbup:Yeah for you! I was, also, thinking that the 1st time you have to get a new bra size is nice too. I went to Victoria Secret for myself last week. I had to drop 4 band sizes and 1 cup! :w00t:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

:biggrin:Yeah! Shopping! Can't wait for the need again. I've had to once this spring/summer, and have to soon as I have very few good dresses for church anymore. It's great when you hvae to get rid of some fat clothes.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Good for you. Yeah! It's pretty good when you can take clothes off without unbuttoning and unzipping. I did that several times yesterday, too.

    Banded Oct 30

Hi, My name is Karen. I was banded on Oct 30. I started my 2nd week of liquids, yesterday. No longer have to be clear. Amazing difference. I enjoy the "Campbells" soup in the box. It is very tasting and most are pureed just right. Also, I found a couple othr things that take the edge off. I am allowed hard candies. I have been using "dumdum" suckers at night. I had BMI of 43 in April. I was one of the 6 month dieters before I could be approved by my insurance. I am down to 202 this morning and a BMI of 35.3. I hope to meet others who had there surgery recently and we can keep each other on track.. Oh, by the way, have others had trouble sleeping? I seem to wake up real early, and can't always go back to sleep. Thanks, Karen

Thanks for responding. I think right now, my intake of calories is so low, that the amount I get from the suckers is okay. I will watch though when I am on real food. Thanks...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I have a support group with my Drs. ofc. I haven't been yet, as I am just in my 1st week. If you read my post, I also, went through the 6th month dieting. It was kind of tough, but knowing that I had to weigh in, and wanted this in the long run made it easier. I think, at least. My doctor helped me with a 1/2 diet pill a day, Phentermine. Also, going to a nutritionist who gave me guidelines and a diet to follow, helped at lot. Good luck, Karen

Hi Deb, Sounds like you are doing great. I am still on the clear liquids diet. I will be real happy at the end of the week, when I can start regular liquids, too. Good luck, and keep the faith!
