    Not to Tell?

NJ.... you will not regret telling him. He will try and be the supportive... "i love you no matter what you look like" husband. But, after the surgery... watch out... I can't keep my husband off me now...lol. I too was a size "0" when i met my husband.... so he has seen me at my best and worst.... now i'm in the middle somewhere.. but i like a size 8.... would love a size 4 My husband said.... really you don't need that, you are beautiful as you are..... but i do own a mirror and i know he was just being a thoughtful husband and trying not to hurt my feelings. I mean.. do we really want to hear from our husband... Yea you really could use all the help you can get... no we don't. But, i'm glad i told him and my family. And you will too, i'm sure of it. Good luck with your appts. and i will be praying for you.... By the way..... i so wish i was a jersey girl.... i love the housewives and jerseylious .. oh.. the big hair and the clothes and tans... i love it... My husband has a uncle that lives in Jersey. He had LB and so did one of his daughters.
  2. This is were i started: 5' 2" , Weight 223, Bra size 44G....... Now a little over 16 months after LB... Weight 152, Bra size 38H.... I lost 6" around.... and gained a cup size. I lost hardly any of my breast mass. If you look at some of my Dr. Appt. pic you can see how LARGE the girls are. Even in the Dec. 2010 Christmas pic you can still see the size. Most people would tell me.... if you would just get a breast reduction you would look as big.....NOT...then i would just be FAT. I didn't want to "just lose boobs" i wanted to be at a healthy weight and be proportioned right for my height. So i started the journey of looking in to WLS and a breast reduction. In my head i thought.... two birds one stone... Well i got the one bird, my LB surgery was approved.... but not the reduction. Was told I would have to get to my goal weight before they would do it. So i'm still stuck with the most miserable back pain you could imagine. I would have to pay out of pocket for the breast reduction now because i lost my job the day i went back from having LB surgery. So I figured if i'm going to go under... do the tummy tuck too....

Exercising...how do I talk myself into be complaint

I had all that crap at my house too... never used them. Do you have a friend you can walk with? I can not get up and exercise in the morning.... i like to sleep till the last min... My weight didn't show until i started exercising... My husband was my motivator and support system. Now I go to the Y right after work. I also have a dog that I walk 3-4 times a day. I live 10 min. from work so I go home at lunch and walk her. I do zumba, body combat ans spin class as a group and i walk the treadmill and do the DEVIL (elliptical). When i first started i could only do like 5 min on both... now i'm up to 45. You can do it..... We 40+ girls have to stick together.....
  4. hey chris... just reading your blog... good luck with your surgery.

    Not to Tell?

When i first started looking into the LB i of course did it in private. The first person i talked to was my friend Paula... she had had the surgery a year before and was doing great. She was very open to everyone with it. So I went to her in confidence and said I was thinking of having the surgery. She kept my secret, and i so respect her for that. Turns out her life mate and i had our LB surgery on the same day with the same dr. The next person was my husband. He at first was not so sure, but after I went to him with all my research and with my mind made up that i was doing this for my self, he was right on board. He and i discussed it and i decided to not tell any one, he honored my wishes and kept my secrete. I did tell my Sons and my daughter in law. They were all on board. I didn't even tell my mom or my family at first. About six months after the surgery i told the rest of my family. My mom kept asking if i was ok because i kept losing weight and she didn't know why..... thought I was sick... so I told them. I started to get comfortable with telling people at about six months. People would ask and i would tell them, i had LB surgery........... THEN...... i started getting "the look". All us WLS people..... know "the look"........... it right after they ask you, How are you doing it... and you say I had LB surgery. It's the YOU TO THE EASY WAY OUT LOOK. I would get so mad because...... WLS was defiantly not the EASY WAY OUT............ it's hard as hell. Just because you had the surgery does not mean you are will lose weight. My sister in law had it done and weighs more... but she refuses to follow the rules and exercise. I would so love a big fat cheese burger with fries..... and a dr. pepper at the same time.... So now, when some one that has not seen me in a while comes up to me and ask.............how I did it........... i say I watch what i eat and i exercise...... Now, i have lost 71lbs, i could not be happier. My husband, who never complained about my weight, loves the NEW ME..... He love that fact that i have more confidence and in turn feel better about being more intimate. I truly believe it not only saved my life, but marriage (of 20year) is way better. His favorite thing..... i was able to get rid of all my "granny panties".......... and went bought some cute ones at VS.... So, NJ girl.......... sit down with your research and tell your husband... he will be glad you did, and so will you.....

I cried for the first time...

Lets face it..... I know i've heard for many year... you have such a pretty face...... well most of us "fat girls" do. But we also had wonderful up-beat attitudes, great personalities, and a loving caring giving soul..... When we lose the weight we still have all this and now we are healthier and we look HOT.. They just have skinny.......

I cried for the first time...

Congratulation to all of you for making the decision to change your lives.... I got baned in nov. of 09'. I still don't tell everyone about my surgery. At first I did, but after you get "the look", you stop. A lot of my close friends and family know, but i don't lead with.... Hi, my name is Christina and i had Lap band surg. After a few time you get "the look" you start to wonder if you are the lazy fat person they talk about. It's the "you too the easy way out look"..... EASY... by no means is this EASY.... I work every day watching what I eat, and exercising to lose what i have. What i would give for a BIG JUICY cheese BURGER AND FRENCH FRIES..... OR A SLICE OF pizza.... So now, when people who have not seen me in a while say..... WOW you look great, how did you do it..... I say ..... I watch what i eat and i exercise 4-5 times a week and i walk 3-4 times for 20-30 min everyday. it's not a lie.... i just don't tell them i had WLS. The sad thing is..... i want to shout it from every roof top...... Lap band surg... saved my life and my marriage..... and i would do it again tomorrow if i had too. But i can't because of the narrow minded people in the world. Love you all and keep up the great work
  8. Me.... too..... I agree with Want2beme my coach told me some thing one day.... If you want to feel pretty, hang around people who are ugly. So I guess someone told your friend..... If you want to feel skinny and have more self confidence hang around people fatter than you... with no self confidence. I think this is her issue.... I would not take her back as a friend. Your better off with out her "drama" Congrats on your success, keep up the great work.

Band vs. Sleeve? Why did you pick band?

I guess like everything else in life... there are pros and cons. For me, I know about the sleeve, by friend had it done. She has had great success with it. This is what i can say about the band (for me). I love the fact that my stomach is still in one piece and having time to adjust with my band as for as eating habits (as i got fills). But on the other hand, it is a pain in the butt to have to go back and forth to get filled and then unfilled (never got unfilled) till you get the "sweet spot". All in all i don't see how you could go wrong with either. You have taken the first step to a new heather you and you should be proud. Life will never be the same. Banded 11-10-09: Beginning weight 223, now 152 as of this morning. 71lbs gone FOREVER.... Good luck
  10. Let's get up dated shall we.... Started the process in early 2009 with just research. Went to the seminar in July 09'. First meeting with Dr. Perez Aug. 09'. Went thru the pre-op appts. (cardio, dietitian, psychologist , etc). My Dr. submitted all my results together in one packet to the insurance (united health care), along with a surgery date. Got approved on the first try. White, Female, 5' 2" starting weight 223. Starting pant size 16-18, shirt 2XL, bra 44G. Ba...

  11. i am in Aww of you.... nothing more needs to be said. you give me hope. use to be 18 (us size)... now 8-10. Have 33 more to go to be at 120

Bummed i have only lost 25 pounds in 3 yrs

Banded 11/10/09. Lost 70lbs total. So same weight for the past 4 months.... would love to go get fill, but i now would have to pay $235. Plus year blood work. I feel like i can eat more and have found myself grazing more.... I still have about 33 more to lose to be at my personal goal of 120. I know i need to up my intensity at the gym... I try and go at least 3-4 times a week. I walk my dog 3-4 times a day. Before I leave for work, come home at lunch, at 4 when i get off and again at 9. Fat and Happy.... my friend did the same thing and it was because her band slipped. She went to my dr and he was able to fix it. Now she is doing great.

    ~ I have a DATE Tomorrow...... WHAAAAHOOOOOO

Welcome to the club....Tomorrow is the start of the New You..... i wish you all the luck in the world. A good support system is very very important. My husband and family are wonderful also. Be prepared for some people to not be as supportive as others. Especially your "other fat friends". Your true friends will stick by your side and encourage you all the way. Wear comfortable clothes. I wore my pj's and a sports bra. socks... don't for get socks. Personal items... And don't forget to bring your positive attitude....

    Sports Bra

OMG.... finally someone on here that has the problem i have ..... i wear a 38H... currently i wear my reg. bra, a sports bra and the "liner" bra that is built into the workout tank (all at the same time).... it is so uncomfortable. I would love to start running, but my breast hurt so bad the next day. I feel like i got punched on each side... I'm going to look up the web site you recommended. Did you buy your size or did you go down a size? Thanks

    Woooo hoooo Zumba!!

I'm a member at the YMCA, Started Zumba all most a year ago.... I LOVE IT!!!! Trouble now is so does everyone else. The class has gotten so big. It really is for everyone... fat, skinny, old and young..... Our Y offers a "learning" class on Thursday. they do the same dance two or three time so you can get the hang of it. But, for first timers.... I concur with the others, go to the front so you can see (off to the side). Concentrate on the feet first, then include the hand/arm movements. Don't worry about doing it right... the whole object is to just move. Let the instructor know you are new and they will watch out for you. We have one lady that knows none of the moves (she started before me), but she goes to the back of the class and does her own thing... i think that's great. My problem now is, I have lost 70lbs and i want MORE. I have about 20lbs or so left ... I need to start some hard core training and don't have the motivation.

    Really Discouraged =/

My dr. allowed us to have Soup. Could not eat the chunky stuff in side the soup (potatoes, carrots... etc). My saving grace was the Broccoli soup at Apple Bee's. Vanilla boost, very cold and drink it fast. But i'm not going to lie and say i didn't cheat, because i did. I didn't go out and eat a steak, but I did eat a few bites of chicken. I was on vacation on my "two week" diet. So all week at every restaurant it was "i think i'll have the SOUP".......But on a positive note i did lose 8lbs. If you have to eat, find some thing low in sugar. The reason for the diet is to make the liver softer so it can be moved out of the way with minimal effort for the dr. I know people who had not diet before at all.... Stay strong.... you can do it, don't give up. This is so worth it. Two weeks of starving to lose 70lbs in a year was worth it all....... Banded 11/10/09
  21. looks like we are on the same road. i was banded in Nov. 2009. I've lost 70lb and want to lose another 20 or so. I've been at a stand-still for the last couple months, so decided to start intense workout plan. Hope you the best and keep in touch

    anyone out there from 2009

Hey Leslie, Banded Nov. 10, 2009. Best decisions of my life.... Starting weight 223, now 153. Paints size 18, now 8-10. Started exercising about 4 months after i go my band and the weight started to come off faster. Fixing to start a very intense work out plan hoping to lose the last 20 and tone up the mid-section.... But if i never lose another pound, i am so happy.
  23. Since the weight-loss my husband and i do go "out" more and I do drink. I stay away from the drinks with soda in them. I use to drink Crown and 7, but now.... heck.... i just drink it on the rocks. Be careful with how much you drink, I do feel it faster than before. I use to drink 3-4 crowns and a couple shots, then i would feel it, now 2 drinks and i feel it. Went out for Mardi Gras and drank way too much, but had no stomach problems at all.... Good luck
