Unfill for surgery?
I'm having surgery on Friday and no one's said anything about an unfil! I know I'll throw up though, I always do after anesthesia but usually only once.

24 hours or 48 hours or 2 weeks?
I'm getting a re-fill tomorrow and I'm getting mixed opinions on how long after a fill until you can eat again. My surgeon says 24 hours of liquids then on to real food... my last fill Dr. (the one that accidentally did a full unfil) said 48 hours of full liquids then gradually add more until 2 weeks later you are on real food. So just curious.. what have you heard and what do you follow?

any one in utah want to talk
I live in Roy and the Doctor I use is actually at the NowCare up here but my Orthopaedic Surgeon is also thrilled to death with my weight loss and didn't seem to care that I'd had surgery in Mexico, as long as the weight was dropping. I think the thing with the marble floors was that it wasn't some run-down hospital with rusty tools and cots. It was the nicest hospital I've ever seen!

Lap-band misconceptions
The one that gets me the most is "How do you handle feeling that thing around your stomache all day". I keep having to explain that I can't exactly feel it.

psoriasis and lap band
I do, haven't really noticed any changes though.

any one in utah want to talk
I haven't used the guy in Payson, Dr. Green, because I can't afford him. Right now he is $520 for fill/fluoro and rumor has it he's going up to $700 after the first of the year. I use FillCenters USA but the guy in Salt Lake is brand new, I have my first appointment with him on Tuesday for a fill/fluoro for $240 total ($300 for first fill... $155 for fills after that and $85 fluoro). My Primary Care Physician "discontinued" my service after getting a lapband in Mexico. I found a new Doctor though that is so thrilled with my weight loss and very curious bout the Mexico hospital. He was astounded to hear about the polished marble floors and the beautiful rooms, not to mention the private nurse and how my Physician was training 3 Doctors from California while I was there.

any one in utah want to talk
Hello! I had mine done in Mexico and had a wondeful experience. I've been using FillCenters USA for my fills and the owner of the company started it because his daughter was banded in Mexico and couldn't get a fill in the US so they don't descriminate against Mexico patients at all. Now if you call around SLC and ask some of the bariatric surgeons if they'll fill Mexico patients THEN you will see some rudeness, least I did.

Hungry in the middle of the night
I've found that the new Dannon Crave Control yogurts before bed tend to alleviate those. It's just regular yogurt with added protein and fiber so it sticks around longer.

I loved the Unjury's Orange Sorbet Protein drink! I bought one of those hurricane mixers because the chunks in Protein drinks make ma gag. It's a clear liquid that is kind of sweet and I think quite yummy. You can order samples on their website I think. Oh... Hi from up in Ogden!

Fill doctors in UT?
The only doctors in Utah that will do fills for Mexico patients are Dr. Green in Payson and a new doctor in Salt Lake that works for FillCentersUSA.

Will they operate
Was it the liver shrinking diet? If it is then I can tell you I gained weight the first week of it and then in 2 days dropped almost 10lbs, it took my body a while to click in on the protein only thing. I'd say though, the best bet is to call your Dr. and tell her you are sticking to it but have only lost 3 lbs and make sure the surgery is still a "go".

surgery after being banded
I have arm surgery on the 15th and the only thing I was advised to tell the anesthesiologist is that I'm banded. They didn't say anything about an unfil, in fact I'm going to get a re-fill 2 days before that.

Taking Prescription Medicine with the Band
Just a quick comment, I've found that working with my Dr. on meds she can usually find a liquid or a chewable form of the meds. For instance, right now I'm on antibiotics and histamine (sp?) for a sinus infection. After searching through meds my Doctor found a liquid ZPack and a disolve under the tongue histamine.

Ready to have this thing out...
Thanks for all of the encouragement, I have taken stock on what's going on with my band over the last few days and have come to realize that I have no restriction at all! I even tested it with a bite of bread and that sucker went down without a pause at the stoma. Now I need to find out if my small unfill went bad (ie, when she took out all the Fluid she didn't get it back in) or if I have a hole. Sorry about the LSD comment, I was flustered and wasn't thinking how that sounded.. that stood for Liver Shrinking Diet. I had to go on it before surgery and lost 15lbs so I figured I'd try again to see if I could break the plateau.. which I did then promptly gained back.

Ready to have this thing out...
I haven't posted in forever, been too down on the band but at this point I'm looking for any suggestion. I know you all have heard this before but I need to vent!! I was on a 10 week plateau and for some reason the day after Thanksgiving when I all out ATE I lost 6 lbs (over 4 days)... then over the last 4 days I've put it all back on. I may be healthier physically, although still very obese, but wow, my mental self is struggeling. Is anyone else a bandster basketcase?? I went back on the LSD for a week because before surgery I lost 15lbs with that. I thought it would help me get over this ugly plateau but it didn't work. So for 10 weeks I've followed the rules... Water... walking... Protein first... no sweets... still not losing. I had a bad fill the first of October, I waited a month for the restriction to go down (my other fill was "too tight" for about 3 weeks then loosened) and it didn't so I had .2 removed and was much more comfortable but still not losing, that last .2cc was removed on October 30th. I wonder if they'd remove a lapband and do GBP at the same time :think

Introduction
Hello all! So happy I found you. I was banded on 6/1/06 in Mexico and so far, things are more frustrating than anything. I've been searching for a good support group where we can share funny public PB stories (ok, kidding about that). Anyway, I'm 34, married with 2 kids and work as a computer tech. Been overweight since 10, tried all the diets (I once went a month with only drinking vinegar/grapefruit juice drinks) and it all worked great! Then I had to get off of it and gained the weight back +10. 307 lbs was my top out and I'm at 273... been at 273, then 235, then 238, then 234, then... for 6 weeks!! I'm so stuck! I just got my first fill on 8/11/06 and I lost 5 lbs in 2 days then nada, nothing since then. I do yoga with my daughter for exercise. I'm never ever hungry, I have to force myself to eat dinner but that's all I eat.. a small dinner (ie fish and broccoli). WHY am I not losing?? URGH:mad:
