  3. Ok that sounds good I am 25 yrs old. I live in havelock aslo I'm doing my preop now and he is the doctor that I have been seeing. I'm so excited.
  4. I took liquid tylenol with the pain meds. The day after I was thinking, "What have I gotten myself into???" Sitting on a couch is awful, because you have to use your stomach muscles to get up. A straight chair or flat in bed with some pillows behind you is much better. Make sure you drink your Water so you don't get dehydrated. I promise it will pass in a day or two - it takes a little patience. By Monday you'll be feeling at least 80% of your normal self
  5. It sounds to me like you are in starvation mode. I have been working with a personal trainer, and know that 1000 calories a day is nowhere near enough if you are working out that much. My workout schedule is very close to yours. I have been eating at least 1500 calories a day, and I'm losing 2-3 pounds a week. When your body goes into starvation, it holds onto every calorie and piece of fat it can, because it doesn't know when it will be getting more. Just make sure you are eating high quality proteins and veggies instead of getting those calories from cakes, desserts and sugary drinks. Try increasing your calories to at least 1200-1300 a day and try it for a week to 10 days, and see what happens.
  6. My 6 month bandiversary was yesterday. I am exactly 33% to my weight goal. What percentage is everyone else?
  7. I can't speak for anyone else, but I drink carbonated beverages almost every day. I try to stick with diet, but sneak in regular sodas to give me the sugar that I feel that I need. I figure that if I work my butt off in the gym to burn 700 calories, I deserve a regular soda Anyway, after the first 6 weeks after being banded, my doctor says soda is fine. I think you are to avoid it for a day or two after fills too, but I never have.
  8. I find myself snacking in early to late afternoon, when my band loosens up. I almost consider it an extension of the lunch I didn't get to finish because I was tight. I usually have a protein shake or oatmeal for breakfast around 8:00, a light lunch around 11:30 (restriction is still tight), then around 3:00 or 4:00 I get snackey. I'll grab whatever is around my desk - a pudding pack, some cheese, or sometimes a vending machine treat. I then have dinner between 6 and 8, and I'm good for the evening.
  9. I have been banded for 5 1/2 months. I saw my hairdresser today for a cut and highlights, and she told me that my hair is actually stronger and thicker now than before. I have used Nioxin about once a week, and that's it. And taking my Vitamins and eating Protein. She told me that she thinks the regular hair trims (every 4-6 weeks) and the color on my hair (highlights all over) is making it very strong. We use Paul Mitchell color with beeswax. I just wanted to give everyone that tip. Maybe you should try some color to help heal your hair. Nioxin works well too, but when I used it every day it dried my hair out. Now it's just once a week. If you have any questions, let me know.
  10. Yes, it's a thread on this site
  11. If this is the type of group to criticize and talk negatively about other members, I guess I am just in the wrong place. Best wishes everyone!
  12. Anyone is welcome to join - however, there are probably more people in the US than in Australia. Best wishes!
  13. I am going to be very vocal here and state that comments like this do not help me become committed to this group, or do not help me feel optimistic about my progress: "Cassandra I’m going to beat you with that racquetball racquet and burn 1000 calories if you don’t watch what you are eating. I’m sure that was not a typical day of eating. Keep up the great exercise." I joined this group for encouragement, not criticism. I lost 3 pounds last week, and 2.4 pounds this week. and YES, I did that drinking cherry coke, I ate some cake, I had steak and a baked potato, hot wings and even apple crisp! The key is that I worked my ass off at the gym! And if I want to spend several hours a week getting a good workout, sweating and burning calories, that is my decision. If I want to have a soda with all of the calories I want, that is also my decision. I am already losing more than we are supposed to with this band, which as we all know is 1.5 - 2 pounds per week. I think I am doing a fantastic job, but yes, I do need motivation from friends. What I don't need is for someone to bitch at me for every mistake I make. I need encouragement and friends, and for someone to look at the full picture (total weight lost) versus just what I'm eating. If I burn off a ton of calories, I can eat whatever the hell I want. So, let's make this a more positive team instead of just griping at everyone's mistakes. What do you say?
