Geez Some Ppl Are So Damn Rude!!!!
That kind of reply needs addressed RIGHT THEN!! Do not allow her to overlook your accomplishments. Call her on her attitude/statement!! You pay her salary she is your employee. Until you and other patients stop allowing her abuse you she will continue. Your other choice is to pick another GP. She is a person and not one of a higher status. You are paying for her medical knowledge. My reply would have been yes it is 34 but 10 months ago is was in the 50's and while I acknowledge you would like it in the 20s it cannot happen overnight. Thats why I am here to get my referral for continued care from the surgeon who is assisting not judging me. Doctors are taught in medical school to distance themselves and seperate to a point of rude to the lay person. Sometimes it takes a patient to reground/ reteach the human-ness of medicine. You can also just very politely ask her- Tell me something, do you feel I have not done well? why are you so harsh with me? Sometimes just a patient taking time to ask her about the harshness helps soften. Chalk this one up to being caught off guard! I think you have done WONDERFUL!!! :clap2: :clap2: Next time go in armed and ready for her and make it a conversation two way dont allow her to do that to you!!

High Protein Drink Suggestion - Tastes Great!
I use it also. It is actually my favorite. I put into jello, pudding, soups, anything I want. IF you use if for hot you have to mix it cold first (with water etc) then stir it as a liquid into hot. IF you try to sprinkle it as a dry powder in something already hot it clumps. IT IS TASTELESS!! I will not buy anything else in the future. Im sold on it!!

Hyopthyroidism....LapBand questions....
I have Hashimotos (hypothyroidism). I did gain weight, however Ive yet to find an endocrinologist who sees a correlation. They do not buy into hypothyroid= fatness. I did not/will not tell mine I was getting banded. I will be excited to see her reaction to my weight loss. I dont know where I stand on the hypothyroid and weight since Ive met far more thin hypos than overweight hypos. So I think the band is a personal decision. It still comes down to calories in vs calories out. For me the band is/has been the correct decision.. I WAS eating too much. I lost weight on my endocrinologists 1200 calorie plan just didnt keep it off because I wasnt able to stick to it. Low carb is great if you can stick to it. The band will make me stick to it because bread is a no no! Good Luck on whatever you decide.

What are you guys eating for protein?
That depends where on this journey you are. If you are recently post op you cannot have solid Proteins so there is a huge dependence on Protein supplements. Volume and amount of protein are the biggest consideration. If you are further out then you eat protein first then veggies. Protein being chicken, fish, beef, pork, eggs, tofu, whatever your choice is. For me it has been and will be in my future easier for me with my morning time constraints to drink protein on my way out the door.

Isopure
Try bariatriceating.com they sell samples. nectar- fuzzy navel is good, they have several brands. You will find people either LOVE or LOATHE their supplements. Personally I do not like isopure. There are several on the market I do like but it is one of those things you have to do a trial on. My suggestion to you is not to buy too much of any one product. post op your mind and stomach do not agree. What tasted good to me pre-op doesnt sound or taste too good now that Im post op. One of the most important things post op is to NOT VOMIT. That takes some work if your trying to force yourself to drink protein that is yucky. Get some samples for post op if you can tolerate them you can always get more.

post diet
Depends on the surgeon!!! I was allowed 3 days clear only then thin liquids first week, thicker liquids the second week, including applesauce, yogurt, cottage cheese then I get to add mushies for the weeks 3-5. Tonight I stopped and got chicken and dumplings and put them in the food processor with chicken stock to make the consistency of applesauce. I have been ready for savory non sweet Protein sources. Ive had brocolli cheese, tomatoe basil, and potatoe with roast all blended to consistency of applesauce. sounds like a lot of high fat high carb but when you only get 3-4oz or so it doesnt add up that quick. The post op time is for healing. I will worry about weight loss later- however Ive not done bad their either. Thats why Im not stressing over the calories in such small portions. So.... I hope you have a surgeon similar to mine!! Good Luck

as long as you add the powder to cold things works well- mix in small amount of cold water then pour into hot has worked!! The puree is not that bad- or I really got hungry!!! Im not hungry enough for puree tuna yet so Ill wait a week or so for mushies.

It is a thin radiopaque liquid to verify there were no accidental holes or leaks in any of the surgeons handy work. Done via fluro, they watched the liquid go down and empty from upper to lower prior to letting me go home. You could see the band under the fluro- kinda cool. Tastes like liquid styrofoam with skunk essence!! NASTY, VIAL, Gag you Horrid stuff. :) Took rinsing my mouth in radiology 6-8 times and brushing my teeth 2 times to get rid of the taste!!

Since it was consistency of soupy applesauce, it went down easily. I had 3-4 ounces so between 1/4-1/2 cup. I can feel it go thru. I have not had anything thick enough to stay in the pouch. I guess that will be next week when I get to start mushies. It was so cool that I had confirmation with the gastrogaffin swallow study of what it felt like for the upper pouch to empty into the lower stomach. The rad tech was amazed I could feel when it was going thru the band and could tell when it emptied. I eat EVERYTHING with toddler silverware so it slows me down . Speed is going to be a huge problem for me. I TRY to put the utensil down between drinks. It works best if I take a bite, go get laundry, take another bite and load the washer, take another bite and load the dishwasher, take another bite etc...... Although that will make meal time hectic appearing to others. BJean- blend up the chicken with chicken stock- For my list anything that goes thru a straw is ok. For me, Its not the content its the consistency so my pouch doesnt hold anything right now- my lower stomach is doing all of the NON-work since its liquid. Im ready for mushies!! 7 more days..

Laser hair removel. Has anyone had it???
I did my underarms. It HURT!! Not unbearable- Felt like a rubberband being popped on your skin. It took 8-9 treatments .Luckily my package was 5 and free retreats for 2 yrs. IF they offer the numbing cream use it. The areas on my face I had done - did not hurt as bad- go figure. Most of my hair is too light for the laser to "see" it does not work well on lighter hair especially blonde.

I am so much better today with hunger. I was hungry for savory non sweet protein sources. I stopped on the way home and got two servings of ( one for me and one for DH) pot roast with carrots and potatoes- put it in the blender and thinned it with beef stock!! That hit the spot!! Plus I have 4 more servings of it!! All the sugar free popscicles, pudding, applesauce, soft allowable foods are sweet!! I was sooooo ready for salty with more than thin consistency!! There is hope for making another week , then mushies!!
