I was banded in St Petersburg, Florida. They had me pay up front in 3 checks. One for the Doctor, one for the hospital and the last for the assisting Doctor. $17,500 total and I did a second on our home. But I will say this.. it was the smartest thing I have ever done in my 50 years of life. Like you hear everyone say "I only wish I had done it earlier" Banded Oct. 3, 2006 Dr. Reinke 338/269/185

Thank god I have only PB'd once at Thanksgiving. I knew I had gone to far with eating and took that last bite anyway. I barely made it to the front door and BINGO. I had my band put in by Dr. Reinke and Dr. Grossbard (he has the band so I trusted him!). Not sure about how they work the payments as I was a self pay and luckly I was able to secure the money. It has been the best move for me. My knees dont hurt and my back is better every day! I wish you the best!!!

My Dr. told me protien also. I just made my mind up though that I was not going to give in. I went though a anniversary and my sons birthday and didnt eat. Actually the Dr. said that if I ate the pain during recovery would be worse. Did I mentio I hate pain???? LOL.. Stay strong and give it your best shot!!!!

I am from Charleston and was banded in Florida in October. I am trying tofind a doctor here for fills to save the 7 hour trip once a month..

I was banded on October 3rd of this year. I am scheduled for my first fill next Monday. Thats when I will begin to post and ask questions. So far things have been fairly simple and straight forward.. no eating just sipping. This is my first week of actual food and I am so scared to eat I just do the comfort zone thing and have cream of wheat, soup and drink a ton of water. Stand by next week though I will be asking for help and ideas on food to eat!!! YOU WERE WARNED.... LOL Neal

It took me about 4 months from the initial meeting. Depends on your insurance ( I paid cash for mine). Mostly depends on how quick you can make your appointments for all the pre-op tests that have to be done. I was banded on Oct 3rd and am loving life right now. I am already down over 30lbs!! I was a self pay in St Petersburg Florida ant it was 17,000. Actually took a loan against the house because like you my health is wirth more. I am being banded on October 3, 2006. They are making me bring cashier checks for the hospital, doctor, and 3 others. Amazing !!!! Best of luck in getting banded!!!!

someone please tell me that the post diet is better than this 2 week opifast program. I was told that I would not be hungery after getting banded on Oct 3rd. Maybe my nerves are getting to me about the date getting closer....

Hello - I am scheduled to be banded on Oct 3 2006 in St Petersburg, Florida. Have to admit I am a little nervous and that may be this liquid diet I am on for the next 2 week not sure yet. I will be posting regular looking for tricks and ideas on making this a positive venture for me. I am currently at 334lb and want to get to fighting weight of 185lb.
