Now It will not look unusual at work!
  7. I am sleeping on my right since my port is on the left, I have a pillow that I put over my left flank to protect my port. What I found helpful while I was sore was to build a ramp with the pillows, like for race cars when we were little , and the laying at the elevated angle keep my port from being irritated!! The other thing that may help is put a pillow under your knees if you are sleeping on your back to remove the pressure from the port. Wishing you Good Sleeping:notagree
  8. We have ALL done GREAT!! The communication helps and knowing what to expect. A good attitude about having it done and WANTING the band so bad comes in handy also. WOOOO HOOOOOO for all the Sept bandsters!!!!! Keep up the good work, we are only halfway thru!!
  9. Elaine53- GOOD LUCK! Post as soon as you are able. It is so exciting!! Remember: walk, walk, walk, walk! Keep on sippin!!
  10. YOU LOOK GREAT!!!! YEA!!!!! WOOOO HOOOO!!! Keep up the good work.
  11. I CAN relate- Took 4 days- I was ready for the milk of mag. I have walked until my feet hurt- FINALLY!! And Im with you suprised it didnt hurt!! LOL people probably think EEEEWWWWW- they'll see........
  12. Has anyone found toddler utensils that DONT have Dora, sponge bob, or other Toddler related fat stubby handles? I want a PLAIN stainless regular handle with just smaller spoon and fork. Apparently those are hard to find. Ive checked: Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, Walmart, Babies R Us, Grocery store, Dollar Tree, Big Lots Tomorrw Im going to Pier one and look for demitassi spoons, and Dept stores to see if they carry them.
  13. Hey Telly- Got in and out of the car FOUR times Walked around SuperTarget, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond and the mall!!:heh: :biggrin1: The soreness is going away!! EXCEPT around the port!
  14. No its not upsetting just your surgeon has different rules from most of the others. Its just impossible on a wide scale to make certainties for all. All the surgeons have such different protocols- thus far yours seems to be the tuffest to adhere to!! Good Luck!! Post banding has been harder than I thought. No head hunger but my stomach is pissed off at me for having it folded, sutured, and banded. Its is growling and hungry, and if that doesnt work it teams up with the hiccup team!! Im just thankful that My surgeon allows more- You will possibly have it harder- Im telling you the sugar( from juice) and some fat has SAVED me!!
  15. I did not get those instructions- Bettina that must be your surgeon. Apple juice is specifically ON my list of allowed as well as ANY unsweetened fruit juice. Bettina your instructions on most everything have been VERY different from the majority of the others. Just your surgeons perferences Im sure. A M E N !!! DITTO from my team!! Heal first weight loss later!!
  16. I was banded 3 days ago- while in pre-op area 30 min prior, I was thinking why am I here, what am I doing, Did I really do everything I could? It didnt help that since I started 90# over and by surgery time I was only 70 over- the nursing staff raised an eyebrow- I then decided- SCREW them . I have worked hard and I want this to stay off!! I even discussed it with my dr. He agreed that I needed to do something before it was a bigger more serious problem. Both parents have had cardiac complic and diabetes- I DO WANT THAT!! IM GLAD I DID IT!!!
  17. wow! thats a great price!! Im sure the stopping smoking hasnt helped the anxiety!! You're doing great!
  18. OHHHH how i remember- Thanks for the reminder!!
  19. At $1000 per month you wouldnt need much of a loan- It would be totally paid for in 14-15mos. As for the anxiety, mine went away when I knew this was the best decision for me & i had the date scheduled! Once you get scheduled or the loan in hand you will ge giddy!! AS for them coaching you- ask them to stop since it is only adding to the anxiety. Speaking of- interview the surgeon and start getting all of that out of the way. Go to free seminar, see if you have to do counseling, pre-op testing and get those things rolling. Good Luck and try to relax, anything you have such determination for will happen. Your parents may not realize you have been considering it for 1.5 yrs Print the thread why did you decide on the band- it has some great info on why people got it. Any other positives- print off for them. Hide the address so they dont sabotage on you!!
  20. Its normal. My mother was TOTALLY unsupportive! To the point of I did not tell her I was having it done. That right was forfeited by being unsupportive. I was frantic, desperate, and consumed with finding a way to get a band!! My every waking hour was pining for the band- so I understand COMPLTELEY!! Is it an exclusion on your insurance? The process is complex and not quick so, as hard as it is try to take a deep breath and hang in there!! If you have to cash pay- cosider it like a car payment. Hopefully they wont use control to prevent you from attaining health. I would present it that way- calmly. You may not support my decision, but this is a necessary step to attain long term health
  21. Once Im back on solids, Im going back just for the structure and healthy habits. I agree with susan no "dieting" but for me this will have to be a new way of eating from now on. Its a relearning of how to eat. The occassional splurge is ok if it is planned then the regular routine is resumed. Its worth the $12 to me for the accountability. There is a GREAT page for those who dont want to go to the meetings Its DWLZ.com She has done all the work and posted it on the web!!
  22. ME TOO!!!!!! I wonder if it was removed with the upgrade? If so IM LOST!! Alex or Mods- please email me my journal so I can keep going!!
  23. TELLY!! crunches makes my belly hurt just thinking about it!! Maybe in 6-7 weeks!! Take it easy skinny girl what will be left to conquer if you can do all that now?! You GO GIRL I'll let you workout for me for a week or two!!
  24. WALK WALK WALK- I had mine 9/14, 9/15 I drve to the store to walk around, felt less sore, less bloated today. Today went to bath and body for $6 wallflowers, bed bath and beyond for pressure cooker, and got more jello. Jello with 1-2tbsp plain yougurt and 1 scoop of any whey- just like unjury is WONDERFUL!!! Very filling and satisfying!! Then a special treat DH and I went and had manicure & pedicures- it was the cure for post-op soreness!! Good luck to you and get out and it gets better quicker!!
