  1. Are you drinking plenty of Water? It is necessary to filter the waste from your body. Eating an excess amount of sodium can make your body retain fluids. Have you been keeping sodium levels below 5,000 mg a day? Are you sure you are entering everything you eat in the right amount? Everyone underestimates. Check out the documentation on the bodybugg site: bodybugg
  2. Or you can just go to this page and enter a couple of numbers: Basal Metabolic Rate : Calculators : Discovery Health Then do the stuff below. Or you can invest in a Bodybugg or Go Fit Wear and it will do all of this for you giving you more time to exercise. No matter how you get your final number. Here is how to use it: A pound of fat takes 3,500 calories to burn. So, every time you burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you lose a pound. That's 1 pound a week if you burn 500 cal a day more than you eat. Unfortunately, the opposite is true as well. You gain a pound every time you consume 3,500 calories that aren't burned.

I started where you did Jack and by the time I get banded I will be where doubleg started.

  5. I should have added, that if you weren't able to tell her immediately that she was wrong; then you need to keep doing research. Get the ball rolling and do as much research as you possibly can during your waiting period. It's not too late turn back or change your mind until the piece of plastic is inside of you.
  6. About the only thing she got right is that you lose weight quicker. * Ask her about the 2% chance of fatality. * Ask her about the Vitamin supplements she will be taking for the rest of her life. * Ask her about dumping. * Ask her about the foods she can never eat again. * Ask her about the pain and the recovery time from surgery. * Ask her about the birth defects her children will have if she gets knocked up due to lack of nutrients. * Tell her that the fatality rate from lapband is less than .5%. * Tell her that lapband surgery can be undone if need be. * Tell her there is no need for supplements if you eat right. * Tell her you can get prego and have healthy babies. * Tell her over time that you will most likely maintain your weight loss. * Tell her to do some research before spouting off crap like this.
  7. My paperwork was supposed to be submitted to Aetna on January 6th but my cardiologist did not indicate that I could stop taking my blood thinners for a couple of weeks prior to surgery. My surgeon's office said they would call him the next day; get the ok and submit the paperwork. I called Aetna on the 13th to see how things were progressing and they said that they haven't seen the request. I figured, "oh well, maybe they couldn't reach my cardiologist." I called Aetna again on the 20th and they still haven't seen the request. So, I call my surgeon's office and explain my concern. The receptionist tells me that the insurance specialist is out of the office "today" and that she was transferring me to her voice mail. Well, I left a message on Wednesday and it is Friday night. I still haven't heard from them. I was in no hurry to get banded because I have been doing great on my own. However, my roommate just told me that he is moving back to nasty, disgusting, frigid, tax-you-to-death Boston in February and he is my ride to and from surgery. I need to get this over with before he leaves. I am self sufficient to a fault and it kills me to have to ask anybody else for a favor. Apparently it doesn't hurt me to whine though.

  9. The instructions for creating and posting a ticker are here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/
  10. This is a quote from the official Lap-Band site: Lapband.com - LAP-BAND® System Risk and Complications Information
  11. Welcome, I am hoping to have surgery around the same time but still haven't heard from insurance company. Here is a ticker tutorial: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/
  12. They had immunity last week. So, right before the weigh-in she sucked down a gallon of Water to make her weigh a lot more. This week she was immune again so she pulled the same crap. All of the excess weight is water. That means all she has to do is pee to make her look like she lost 5+ pounds next week.
  13. It's not really the fact that she did it but she lied about it. Michael is disappointing. He is kind of a clown and he has a shot of losing more than any other contestant ever has.
  14. I record it and won't start watching until it is at least half through. That way I can skip the commercials and the stupid personal crap.
  15. What kind of Nazi does anything gently?
  16. Missing apostrophe; go to your room!
  17. I find it even crazier that you took the time to reply to somebody here about some word you spell some way. Don't take it personally. I'm sure you are not the only person that spells that word that way. If so, it wouldn't have been interesting enough for its own thread.
  18. HB, You left out the nipple piercing. CLJ, PB stands for "productive burp". Basically belching up undigested food. I can't wait to get banded so I can do it and talk it about it in detail.
  19. I did google and I guess I picked the wrong one to try. It is where I got the water from.
  20. Thanks!! I will try and find it. I am not the type to follow recipes to the T but it will get me off to a better start than today. If I don't add water will everything still cook evenly?
  21. I got a crock pot for xmas and decided to give it a try today. I turned it on low 8 hours ago and threw the following into it 1 large onion sliced 1 large bell pepper sliced 2 stalks celery sliced 4 cloves of garlic crushed 2 quarts of whole button mushrooms 3 pounds cubed pork shoulder 2 sprigs of rosemary minced 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/2 white wine vinegar 1 cup water 2 teaspoons black pepper 1 table spoon no-salt (potassium) Sounds good even as I type this but it isn't. It is totally tasteless. The meat is as tender as can be but it tastes like I boiled it. What am I doing wrong? Should I not put water in there? With all of those aromatics, the flavor should be there. All is not lost because I can dump a bunch of cumin and hot sauce in to give it flavor but I shouldn't have to.
  22. My surgeon is David Kim. He airs local TV commercials. I was shopping around and he was the first I went with. I love the staff in his office. They are knowledgeable and have been nothing but helpful. I was supposed to have a date on January 6th but my cardiologist didn't not cross all of his Ts and dot his Is. Hopefully I will hear sometime this week. I am planning on surgery being early February. I'm dropping weight in preparation as well. I want the lapband to be my safety net. So, I don't put it back on...again
  23. And a talented writer. It takes a lot to put your thoughts into words that everyone will understand.
  24. I am in Keller, between downtown Fort Worth and the Texas Motor Speedway. I am also waiting on insurance. It looks like you've already dropped more than a hundred pounds in advance. Congrats!! I'll race you to 200. Good luck!
  25. I have not had surgery yet but have done plenty of research in advance. I answered your questions as well as I could. You will receive differing opinions and that will help you with weighing your options.
