  1. I'm feeling like a hypocrite after my last reply. You can probably find a dozen posts by me on this site that say there is no such thing as a bad food when eaten in moderation. Not to mention I had an ice cream sandwich an hour ago. I apologize but I think what got me was that there were no nutritious foods mentioned. Perhaps a favorite fruit or nut?
  2. I don't want to be an ass but everything on this list with the exception of vinegar and perhaps Diet Coke is GARBAGE! Let's say that none of these pose a problem. Is this what you plan to continue eating?
  3. It is IMPOSSIBLE to gain weight on less than 800 calories a day!! You need to talk to your surgeon.
  4. bird .................
  5. It's great that you are realizing that the band is a tool and not a magic wand. I noticed much the same. I think you may be focusing too much on the negatives. For every failure, there is a success. Having the stories of the failures as well as the successes all in one place is great. You can list out the things the failures have done and you should not do; the things that the successes have done and you should do; Then look at your list and decide whether you can do this and if the band is right for you. I am yet to be banded and this is the process I have been going through for more than a year in making my decision.
  6. Thanks. May give it another shot tomorrow. It didn't turn out as bad as I thought last time. I was eating it while it was cooking and searing my taste buds. I guess. I rescued it with a bunch of rice to soak up the water and some bacon salt. I am going to cook half of a pork shoulder. Is there any need to even thaw it? And why do so many people suggest browning the meat first?
  7. Hangover * The rules explicitly state ONE word. Now, stop that!
  8. Congrats and good luck!! I'm in Fort Worth and was hoping to have mine by the end of today. Oh well. There's always next week.
  9. There are way too many variables to be considered for anybody to give you a straight answer. From the time your paperwork is submitted to insurance to getting a reply is usually less than 2 weeks. A lot of insurance companies have mandatory waiting periods or supervised diets for 3 - 6 months. Others don't. You should check with your insurance company to find out their requirements.
  10. If you are that active, you are probably burning at least 2,500 calories a day. You should be consuming at least 1,200 calories to give you body the fuel it needs. If you don't, your body goes into starvation mode and stops burning calories unless you are exerting yourself. The weird answer is: yes, you have to eat more in order to lose weight. Have a 100 calorie shake between each meal. That will ad a couple hundred calories to your diet. Congrats on the weight you have already dropped!!
  11. batty I was wondering how Puff got in there. I did not recall the cats name but I do regret missing the easy pitch.
  12. nuts Who didn't see that one coming?
  13. I think you are looking too far ahead. You have to take it one day at a time or you will overwhelm yourself with anxiety. If you get banded and if you follow the rules and if you lose 100+ pounds, it is not going to happen overnight. You'll have plenty of time to get accustomed to whatever changes take place.
  14. You've been around for over 700 months. What's another six? I am almost at the end of my wait and haven't regretted the wait at all. It gave me plenty of time to soul search and continue my research.
