Conservative VS Liberal
BUZZZ!! Technical foul! You can't bring up something that happened almost 40 years ago. Some people in this debate weren't even reborn yet.

Why did i do it????
Get in contact with your surgeon immediately; get a fill and get some sort of therapy or counseling for your love of over eating. And forget about self-pity or self-loathing. It will only make matters worse. You made a small error is judgment. Try hypnotism or acupuncture if you aren't in the mood to sit with a therapist. The numbers are out there: 97% of people that lose 100 pounds or more, gain at least half of it back. I'm hoping the lapband can break the vicious cycle.

Biggest Loser 2010
I think Rudy and Danny both losing over 200 pounds each saved it. That would be lots of fun! The men would do fine but the women would be clawing at each other every chance they got. The majority of the viewers are women and they think that y'all want to see sensitive men.

Worried about weightloss
In my reading over the past year I've come to realize that failure to lose weight with the lapband falls in the following categories: - Physical issues - Proven broken lapband - Medical mistakes whilst installing of filling lapband - Patient's ignorance/insufficient research - Patient's laziness/stubbornness/lack of will power The vast majority fall into the latter two categories. A ton of people, cliche intended, failed to do sufficient if any research. They were looking for an easy way out and thought that all they had to do is have this magical ring placed inside them and the would wake up svelte in less than a year. They do not or cannot grasp the concept that losing weight has to do with burning more calories than you consume and has little to do with how many cc's of fairy dust are inserted into their magic ring. These people are not hopeless, they just need a lot of research and a little education on how to use the tool that they now possess. The lazy / stubborn / will powerless crowd refuse to believe that the lapband is only a tool and that they actually have to work at losing the weight or they know what needs to be done and don't have the will power to do it. These people are also not without hope but the resolution to their problems can most likely only be achieved by therapy or maturity. Both require a bunch of support. The stubborn can get frustrating but they either come around or go away sooner or later.

Help!!!!
It's not enough to "watch" what you eat. Log everything you eat either online or on paper and you my be surprised to see that you are eating more than you thought. Make sure that you are drinking at least 64 ounces of clear Water a day.

Plateau - trying not to get discouraged
You lose weight by burning more calories than you are taking in. There are equations and devices to figure out how many calories you are burning but if you keep caloric intake below 1,500 a day, you should lose weight. If you aren't already doing so, log everything you eat either on paper or online. You may be surprised to see that you are eating more than you thought. Also, drink plenty of Water. This is needed to flushes the waste from your system. If you slow down on the water your body will start holding onto fluids. If you're doing all of this and still stuck in the mud, you may need to shock you system as mentioned earlier.

Please help me...I'm at the end of my rope here
Great!!! Good luck and don't be a stranger!

Are you a man, a woman or something else?
Nobody is surprised that there are a bunch of women here. What is surprising is how many men. I live in Texas where half of the Americans here appear to be from and during my group meetings it was usually 4 women to ever one man. About the same as the results here.

102 pounds GONE!!!!!
Congrats!! You look great and I wouldn't worry about the plateau unless you start gaining weight.

Being converted to gastric bypass......
I'd give my left nut to weigh 195! Hell, I'd give the set to be 23 or twenty anything again. Does your surgeon have his eye on a new yacht or something? I could only imagine a Hollywood surgeon even considering bypass surgery on somebody your age and weight. DON'T do it!! And whomever mentioned "no more pregnancies." It's true, there is a huge chance of birth defects do to nutrient deficiency.

Lap-band bloggers?
There are plenty of blogs on this site. Click BLOGS up top or just follow this link: LAP-BAND

Are you a man, a woman or something else?
Wow! Almost 20% men. Is anybody else surprised by this? I was expecting 10% or so.

Sucking at success.....
You shouldn't be ashamed. There isn't a person on this site that has not cheated on a diet at least a hundred times. The band isn't going to give you will power. That comes from your head. You need to get at the core of what is making you cheat. Do you know what it is that triggers you to eat garbage? Is it boredom; stress; the smell or sight of food? Have you considered anything like therapy, hypnosis or acupuncture?

"Small" bites?!!!

Please help me...I'm at the end of my rope here
Get over it already and get on with your life!! I won't say not to be disappointed because I would be with myself. I would also try hard to start over and forget about the past. You probably haven't done any permanent harm or it would be painful. Start calling surgeons on Monday morning but don't wait until Monday to get back in the game. Start by documenting everything you eat. You can do this on paper or online here: Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate Only eat when you are hungry and stop when you are no longer hungry. Limit the amount of snack foods you eat. If you must snack, try to keep them to around 100 calories. Drink at least 64 ounces of clear Water a day. Exercise a few times a week.

Pre Op Questions
I hope somebody posts with "how the Gas-X is helping" because it makes absolutely no sense to me. But it's cheap and if it works, I will do it.

Please help me...I'm at the end of my rope here
You are very young and have your whole life ahead of you. Today is just the first day. You can find the surgeons in your area by clicking here: LapBandTalk.com - LapBand Surgeon Search Call a few and ask if they handle aftercare for already banded patients. Keep us up to date on your progress. Also, stick around and let other young people know that the weight doesn't magically disappear after the piece of plastic is inserted. There are quite a few here that are in their teens and think this is the answer to all of their problems.

Pre Op Questions
This is a stupid question but what in the world could Gas-x do for gasses that are in the abdomen? Sure, it relieves gas in the stomach and intestines but from everything I have read, the gas causing the pain after surgery is in neither.

Now I am really scared!!!!!!
That sounds a little far-fetched to me. Even if it were possible, there is probably more of a chance of an aircraft crashing into your car. Are you afraid to get in your car? It is normal to be anxious or scared but don't let it get out of control.

cardiac evaluation
Oops!! You are right!! It had an E and a C in it I've had lots of heart stuff done recently and none of it has been painful yet.
-
cardiac evaluation
I had an electrocardiogram, a.k.a. ultrasound done.

Calculating your daily caloric needs
Liz, You've lost quite a bit of weight. Did you do it sticking to the same old routine and diet? If so, your body probably optimized itself around that routine. You have to change things up and shock it a little. Exercise more; eat more or both.

So Frustrated
One non-scientific way to tell if you are getting enough Water is that by afternoon your urine is clear and not yellow. Stay positive, your weight may all fall off at once. I don't know if I can add anything else. It sounds like you are doing everything right. I burn an average of 1,500 calories more than I consume which averages to about 3 pounds a week. Some weeks I only lose 2 pounds and other weeks I drop 6 or 7 without doing anything different.
